12 Days of Cookies: The Spiciest Gingerbread Cookies Ever


It’s that time again — Food Network’s annual virtual cookie swap is here! The stars of The Kitchen and the chefs in Food Network Kitchen (our bustling test kitchen) have some ideas that are bound to make it into your annual rotation. Stock up on flour and sugar — you’re gonna need ‘em.

Here’s proof that gingerbread can be comforting and surprising. Our new twist on the classic has everything you love in traditional gingerbread: molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg and (of course) ginger. But we’ve also added some cayenne and black pepper to give the cookie a little extra bite. The lingering heat is unexpected but pleasant — expect your platter to empty fast.
