This Fourth of July, whether you're hosting a holiday cookout or will be a guest at a backyard bash, Food Network has recipes for simple, patriotic party desserts to celebrate this all-American holiday. These fruit-filled, flag-inspired treats can be easily packed for spill-free and frosting smudge-proof car rides, and will be enough to feed a whole crowd of firework-happy friends.

Food Network Magazine’s Fruit-Tart Flag (pictured above) is the ultimate star-spangled sweet. Store-bought mini tarts are filled with sweetened mascarpone cheese and topped with colorful fresh berries. Best of all, these two-bite stripes and stars are easily transported in shoe boxes and can be assembled at the party.

Few desserts are more American than apple pie and Food 2’s recipe for Apple Pie Bars boasts the sweet, buttery flavor of traditional pies, but lacks the stress of making, filling and covering them. Quickly cut into durable wedges or squares, this is one apple pie that guests can cleanly eat with their hands.

Food.com’s recipe for light-as-air Red Velvet Whoopie Pies are appropriately striped and can be easily passed at a party for simple snacking and stress-free serving. To add “stars” to your whoopie pies, dip their exposed rims of cream filling in blue sanding sugar.

Looking for an equally festive, but healthier dessert to make? Try Ingrid Hoffman’s Berry Mint Salad from Cooking Channel, which is made with bananas, fresh blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Tossed with fresh mint leaves and orange juice, this easy summer salad can feed a large party without breaking the bank.
