4 Ways with Radishes — Guy's Grocery Games
2013
We continue down redemption road on Guy's Grocery Games this week, as previous contestants get a chance to show off their culinary talents and impress the judges for a win.
In the first round, contestants were challenged to make a chicken dinner using radishes and tofu. And we loved that most of the contestants weren't scared off. In fact, one was excited to use radishes, because she thinks of them as the "underdog of vegetables." We couldn't agree more. And now that spring is upon us, we can’t wait to cook with and eat those crunchy and spicy little roots.
It’s best to store them in ice water in the fridge to keep them nice and crispy. You can enjoy them just like that, but here are a few other ways we like to prepare radishes.
Quick(est) Pickles: Thinly slice your radishes and sneak them into your regular pickle jar. You can start to snack on them in just a couple of hours.
Butter and Salt: Dip radishes (French Breakfast are traditional) into softened butter and then into sea salt. It's a simple and perfect way to enjoy them.
Glazed: Water, butter, sugar and salt are the only other ingredients you need to make this recipe.
Roasted: This recipe for roasted chicken and spring vegetables is the perfect way to win spring with radishes.
Tune in next Sunday at 8|7c to see who is redeemed.
