7 No-Bake Sweet Treats That Are Truly No Sweat
The AC is cranked up, shorts are on and whatever you’re drinking is filled to the brim with ice cubes. And you know what’s not happening this far into July? The oven — and it’s staying off all summer long. Keep your kitchen cool with these sweet treats that don’t require the oven, which are all about bringing on sweetness, not sweat.
When a hankering for Key lime pie strikes, you don’t have to go big. Simply layer individual portions of all the elements — buttery graham cracker crumbs, rich and creamy lime curd and a dollop of homemade whipped cream — for Individual Key Lime Pies (pictured above) and you’ll have a pie-ish treat you can eat up with a spoon.
Round out a summer cookout with Tyler Florence’s Banana Cream Pudding, spiked with vanilla, bourbon and creme de banane. Topping the decadent treat with a crown of fluffy whipped cream makes for a striking dessert centerpiece.
A slice of Sandra Lee’s no-bake, ice-cold Peanut Butter Pie has it all: a graham cracker crust, a creamy peanut butter filling, a chocolate topping and a sprinkle of crunchy peanuts.
Before the mere mention of cake has you preheating the oven, back away from that dial. Ina Garten’s towering, caffeine-spiked Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake cake never sees the inside of an oven. With a little beauty sleep overnight, the layers of mocha whipped cream and chocolate cookies get a chance to merge and soften together.

This striking, layered Angel Food Cake and Berry Trifle cuts a corner, all in the name of leaving your oven in the off position. It calls for store-bought angel food cake (which, though baked, wasn’t baked by you) to add a plush layer in between levels of tangy yogurt and juicy blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.
