Wash Leafy Greens
To wash leafy greens, first fill a large bowl with water. Then separate the plant's leaves and drop them in.
Swish the leaves around to release any dirt, then leave them alone to let the dirt and grit settle to the bottom of the bowl. Curly leaves fresh from the garden are often gritty and may need two or three washings. If you still see traces of dirt in the bowl, repeat the procedure until the water is clear.
Lift the washed greens out of the water and either place them on a clean, dry towel and pat them dry or put them into a salad spinner. To avoid bruising the greens, don't overload the spinner. Instructor: Katherine Alford
