Alton Brown's Restaurant Recommendations
Get the inside scoop on Atlanta's food scene from native Alton Brown.

Krispy Kreme on Ponce:
295 Ponce De Leon Ave, NE
Atlanta, GA 30308

This is a very old store cranking out the most famous dounuts in the world. You can go at 3 in the morning and watch donuts being made. Very surreal, especially if your sugar-buzzed from half a dozen hot, fresh glazed.
Burrito Art
1451 oxford Rd NE
Atlanta, GA 30307
404-377-7786

Great tex-mex food at ridiculously low prices. Local art that you can buy right off the walls. Beer. Heck, what else do you want.

Canoe
4199 Paces Ferry Road, NW
Atlanta GA 30339

As far as I'm concerned this upscale yet casual eatery on the edge of the Chatahoochee river is the best restaurant in Atlanta.

Cook's Warehouse:
549-1 Amsterdam Ave. NE
Atlanta, GA 30306, US
404-815-4993

There are two branches of this fine cookware emporium in Atlanta. Great stuff, great classes, great people.

Brewsters Ice Cream
Several locations

An old fashioned, walk-up-to-the-window ice cream stand. You can keep your sorbet and your fancy gelato, come Saturday afternoon, I'm going for a double chocolate chunk in a fresh waffle cone at Brewsters.

Swallow In the Hollow
Roswell GA

Barbecue, cold beer in buckets and darned good live music almost every night. Slaw's good too. And I love the sound of tires turning on the gravel lot and the smell of the smoke on a summer's night.

Harry's Farmers Market
Several locations around Atlanta

The high Mecca of food in Atlanta. From meat to produce to baked goods, this is the place to shop in town. The Dekalb Farmers market may be more exotic, but Harry's, which is run by Whole Foods is the best show in town.
Carvers Grocery
1118 W Marietta St NW
404-794-4410

From the outside it looks like a bombed out corner grocery in West Atlanta. On the inside it looks like?well a very groovy bombed out corner grocery. Luckily Mr. and Mrs. Carver use it to dispense heapin’ helpin’s of meat-n-3 hospitality. Don’t miss the broccoli/rice casserole or the disgustingly good cheesy cornbread. And don’t worry about beverages, there’s enough sweet tea to float an ark.
