Marc Silverstein

"Fresh," "lively" and "ornery," Marc Silverstein joined Food Network after a stint as a freelance reporter covering Washington, D.C., for a local NBC station. Prior to his work at the NBC affiliate, Marc spent nearly a decade as a dedicated consumer/investigative reporter, first at WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and then at WMAR-TV in Baltimore, Md.

As a consumer advocate in Baltimore, Marc received several Emmy nominations and won an Emmy for specialty reporting. His vigorous investigations exposed scams, cut red tape and put more than a few politicians in the hot seat. Marc's continuing series of reports on problems with child safety seats earned him the Public Service Award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Marc's dynamic personality often attracts as much attention as his aggressive journalism. The Columbus Dispatch newspaper called his style "the freshest and liveliest on any local newscast...a dazzling display of chutzpah and helpfulness." The Other Paper, a local Ohio weekly, described him as one of the "cool cats (who) make Columbus better" and went on to label him "local TV's last ornery man."

Marc has a B.A. in broadcast journalism from The American University in Washington, D.C. He lives with his wife, Kathy, in Maryland.
