Wonderful 06/14/2008 at 11:45am User: Kelly from Friendswood, TX User Rating: I loved this recipe. I bake a lot of cobblers and this one was nice and rich, loved it. Family ate it up too! Rustic Blackberry Cobbler 11/20/2007 at 09:38pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have made this cobbler twice, and it a great recipe. Liquor make it tasty! Amazing. 09/26/2007 at 11:42am User: Elizabeth from Lynnwood, WA User Rating: There were no fresh blackberries available at a fair price in my area, so I actually just bought a bag of frozen, let them thaw, and drained them as thoroughly as possible. I also forgot to drop the little pieces of butter into the mixture before putting the top crust on, but I did brush the top with butter. Because my berries were really cold, it took a little more than twice as long to cook. I went to serve it 2 1/2 hours after taking it out of the oven, and it was still steaming hot when we cut into it. Everyone was gushing over how good it was. They said it was by far the best dessert they've had in a really really long time. I was completely stunned how good it was, I was certain the frozen berries were going to ruin it. It's more like a pie than a cobbler, but it was so good I plan to make it again and again, every chance I get. work but worth it 08/19/2007 at 07:48pm User: maria from modesto, CA User Rating: this is to die for!! it is a bit more work that the standard cobbler, but the results are worth it!! the gran mariner makes it soo rich and tasty, I like it much better than lemon juice or zest!! Of course the vanilla bean ice cream is delicious with it!! Perfect dessert Skip this one. 08/15/2007 at 05:56pm User: Kim from Crestline, CA User Rating: The dough was very difficult to work with. I'm not even sure it was correct and I followed it exactly. The filling was good, but too much sugar. Love this recipe 08/04/2007 at 01:46am User: Mary Ann from Modesto, CA User Rating: The Grand Marnier adds such a great touch to the blackberries. My mother was eating the blackberry sauce right out of the mixing bowl! very surprised at results 07/28/2007 at 04:00pm User: carol from albuquerque`, NM User Rating: I tried the blackberry cobbler and was very disappointed. The dough recipe apparently isn't correct because when I made it it was so short that it would not harden or brown in the oven. I cooked it for 45 minutes and when I touched the dough on top it stuck to my finger. The recipe called for 2 cups of flour and 1 cup shortening, this has to be wrong. tasty filling otherwise disaster 07/05/2007 at 09:31pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Crust: Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews until after I mixed it up. Not good. Wouldn't roll out, etc. Threw it away and made a regular crust from a Gale Gand recipe. Filling: After reading the reviews I tripled the amount of flour added to the sugar and it was total liquid when we cut into it. Positive note: it tasted great. Overall, I would use the Grand Marinier for the flavor but use a different recipe entirely for thickening and crust purposes. pie 06/18/2007 at 09:10am User: Anonymous User Rating: good I see about the crust, but the filling was great. 01/22/2007 at 08:04am User: Holly from Louisville, KY User Rating: Based on the reviews, I didn't even bother with the crust. Instead I just used a Pillsbury roll out crust which I have used successfully for pies for years. Guess what? It didn't brown up, either. So it's not about how the crust is made. It has to be about the juiciness of the filling, or perhaps too low of a cooking temperature. But speaking of the filling, it was fantastic. I didn't have any Grand Marnier so used B&B instead. Wonderful. excellent cobbler!! 11/24/2006 at 08:55pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I used a mixed bag of frozen berries and it was great! ruined a good batch of blackberries 08/28/2006 at 11:01am User: JENNIFER from deal island, MD User Rating: I usually check the reviews before I get a recipe but for some obscure reason I did not this time. As I was making the dish, I was really concerned at the amount of sugar and butter versus the amount of flour, thinking there may be a misprint in the recipe. But, I trusted it and went ahead anyway. Totally ruined a beautiful batch of blackberries from the local farmer's market. Runny and gritty was what I got. Blackberries are too expensive to waste this way so, I highly recommend finding another recipe with accurate ingredient list. Something missing? 08/15/2006 at 11:30am User: Laurie from Salkum, WA User Rating: I have made this recipe four times now. The first two times I made it strictly according to the recipe. The third time, I added three tablespoons more flour and the fourth time I used 7 tablespoons of corn starch to try to get it to thicken. WOW... you'd think it would thicken at least once, but it never did... I loved the flavor, and the crust is wonderful... but why would it not thicken? I used a new box of corn starch on the fourth batch, but that did not even work. When I use three tablespoons for a deep-dish pie, why would the same berries not thicken like plaster? I am stumped.... Must Read 05/21/2006 at 09:41pm User: PAIGE from fredericksburg, TX User Rating: My husband had just purchase $25 dollars worth of fabulous blackberries and I decided to make this recipe for us and 2 more for friends. As I was mixing the crust, I was concerned that the amount of shortening way too much. I forged ahead anyway. Needless to say, all three cobblers were a flop. The crust simply would not brown even after 50 plus minutes in my convection oven. Once I gave up on that and took them out, I noticed the crust was just goo. I am so confused on how others could rave about this recipe. The filling is good, but either try another crust or add the shortening little by little until you get the cornmeal texture. Emeril bombed... 01/17/2006 at 12:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made the cobbler recipe to the letter and found the crust to be terrible. I was shocked because I've never gotten a poor recipe off this site. I'm not a skilled baker but I think the shortening amount was incorrect and should perhaps have been 1/8 cup or something.... The filling was good! review for blackberry cobbler 09/07/2005 at 02:26pm User: Lauren from Seattle, WA User Rating: I was quite disappointed with this recipe. There was WAY too much sugar. I even put less than the 2 cups and it was still much too sweet for my liking. It was also very runny and the crust never browned, not even slightly, even after baking it longer than the recipe called for. Cobbler, Yes! Crust, ^$*&@)(*$&!!! 08/25/2005 at 03:07am User: Anonymous User Rating: I love blackberry cobbler and have tried many different recipes. This one has promise...its real cobbler with fruit between two crusts, unlike other recipes that are one big mixture. However, after the fifth time in six months of trying this recipe, I give up. I cannot get the crust come out right based on the instructions from this recipe. After 5 consecutive failures I'll keep another recipe handy. Oh My Gosh!!!! 08/16/2005 at 01:58am User: Jodi from vancouver, WA User Rating: Best cobbler ever. I added four extra tablespoons of flour to avoid it being runny. It was thick, sweet and a big hit at my house!!!!! Emeril's Rustic Blackberry Cobbler 06/08/2005 at 08:28pm User: Sue from Weatherford, TX User Rating: Crust is tender and berry filling is excellent. Very easy. Magnificent 12/02/2004 at 03:23pm User: JOSEPH from Oklahoma City, OK User Rating: This is one of the best tasting Blackberry Cobblers that I have ever eaten. I fixed this for a catered dinner party and had seconds requested from the guests. Thank you Dee-Licious! 11/04/2004 at 10:32pm User: MICHELLE from Tacoma, WA User Rating: I picked fresh blackberries for this and went straight home to make it. It was awesome! Best served warm with vanilla ice cream. Scrumptious 10/24/2004 at 10:42am User: Anonymous User Rating: I love the recipe. I do have some people allergic to alcohol. I would be interested in what flavoring to use instead of the liquor. LOVE THIS COBBLER!!!! 07/21/2004 at 04:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My boyfriend picked fresh blackberries from our farm for this recipe and I made the cobbler. It is SOOOOO GOOD!
