I made this lasagne for a group and it was a big hit. I added a couple of extra garlic cloves, chopped fresh basil to the ricotta mixture, and a few dashes of red pepper flakes to the sauce to balance the sweet sausage flavor. Yummy!

Very Yummy

This was fairly easy to make and reheated nicely! I used all of the sauce expected ( it did not overwhelm the flavour of the sausage or peppers )and a lot more cheese and a little extra garlic. I think using hot Italian sausage versus sweet Italian sausage is the better choice due to the red bell pepper giving it a sweet crunch already.

Perfect savory lasagne!

Wonderful!!! This comes closest to the best lasagna I've had (in a restaurant in London,Carluccio's). I don't use the entire 28oz of tomato sauce, because I like the tomato to be in balance with the sausage and pepper flavor, instead of take over, as it does in most lasagnas. I used just enough sauce to barely cover the pasta. It is really a delicious! (You can also substitute fresh grated Pecorino for Parmesan if you like.)

I love this recipe -it's easy, it's delicious, and a sure winner every time. It's been so popular with my friends/dinner guests that it's even become their "lasagna of choice"! One suggestion I now use; I substitute pre-shredded mozzarella (skipping the shredding step) and have not noticed a subtantial difference in taste, but a BIG difference in prep time. I've also tried many different red wines, and each adds a subtle change in flavor to the lasagna, but all have been good.

not bad, but nothing special

Tons of flavor in this lasagne. I made a two sided lasagne - half with turkey sausage the other half with hot sausage. Both sides were quite tasty! I added more sauce at the end. Perfect ratio of sauce to meat to pasta.
