I never had a written family recipe for my German Mennonite Brethren grandmother's peppernuts (pfeffernussen). These are great, and not that time-consuming.

I haven't had these cookies since high school when we hosted a Danish exchange student! I'm thrilled to find this recipe, they were always a treat when her mother would send her a care package! A little time consuming, but well worth the effort!
