Horribly Disgusting 07/15/2008 at 03:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Are you kidding? Is this woman paid for this trailer trash garbage. What's next Spam on Krimpets, Come On. Only in America... 06/11/2008 at 03:05pm User: MICHELLE from Sacramento, CA User Rating: she's lost all credibility with me. And agree with the viewer who said: enough of Paula and Rachael already. The world has reached saturation point. 4-star burger without the doughnut 06/08/2008 at 07:59pm User: Anonymous User Rating: When I saw Paula Deen making this on her show, I thought "No way, she's not going to do that." But she did. When I mentioned it to my fiancee, he seemed to think it might not be too bad, so he said I should make it. And he told me "Don't deviate from the recipe, though." SO, I made the burger with the doughnut for the bun. Something is just weird about it. We couldn't figure out if we liked it or not. So we took off the doughnut and just ate the burger, and the burger was actually really good! It was the mixture of the sweet doughnut and the savory burger that was throwing us off. So, I give the burger 4-stars. But next time I'll skip the doughnut and try the English Muffin instead. Hmm 03/27/2008 at 09:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Lady's Brunch burger? Ha! This is actually a modified "Luther burger" and she didn't come up with the idea, so don't blame her. I first heard of it on The Boondocks, episode 10, season 1 and I didn't even think it was real. Anyway, a real Luther Burger is better, but it's even worse for you. Cut a Krispy Kreme donut in half then grill the inside of it and make the burger with the glazed side inwards. That way you don't mess up your fingers. Make the burger with a huge patty, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, and a massive amount of bacon. Do a google image search for Luther Burger to see what it looks like. LOVE IT 03/16/2008 at 08:54pm User: Diana from Clarksville, TN User Rating: LOVED IT, A KEEPER yuk 03/16/2008 at 04:40pm User: Anonymous User Rating: the doughnut is most unappealing a bagel would have been better Where are the reviews, not the bickering 03/16/2008 at 10:44am User: Michelle from fairview, NC User Rating: I would really like to see a real review. Thats why I looked at them to begin with. I dont care for eggs on my burger, just wanted to see if the burger patty part of the recipe & on an english muffiin was good or not. Obviously 99% of the reviews here are from people that didnt even try the recipe and have nothing better to do than complain about their life. Hilarity 03/14/2008 at 10:43pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have no problems with Paula Deen offering whatever recipes she chooses, and I think everyone should be responsible enough to decide what they want to eat. With that said this was absolutely horrific. Not a Discussion Forum 03/14/2008 at 02:41am User: C from North Hollywood, CA User Rating: I will rate and review this recipe after actually making it with the different options. I look forward to enjoying a unique recipe from an exceptional woman. A GREAT IDEA 03/13/2008 at 10:58pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is actually a really great idea but donut buns? Ew Its good, but dont use donuts!!! 03/13/2008 at 08:25pm User: null from null, null User Rating: I liked it as a morning burger. I used a poppy seed bagel, and I cut the amount of beef down a little, but it was still big so i spit it with my girlfriend. i don't recommend using donuts unless you want to have a heart attack. Yummy! 03/13/2008 at 04:15am User: Anonymous User Rating: What a novel idea! Leave it to Paula to come up with this one. The sausage is the best, and Paula is the best! To all you "health" nuts, all your efforts will be to no avail as you will all die young. In the meantime, you will not have enjoyed life. So, go back to gnawing on your carrot while you nag at your hungry family. Paula is number one because her recipes are tops! Quit cryin'. 03/12/2008 at 11:23pm User: Roger from San Diego, CA User Rating: Are you sure you are all adults in here? Give me a break, people. We're all capable of making our own decisions. No one is twisting your arm and forcing you to make this atrocious burger. Quit crying, you babies. But if you must...may I offer you my hanky? No I insist. You can even keep it for your future reviews. As for the caloric and fat content, oh big whoop. I am willing to wager that most of you guys eat as many calories in one single meal anyway. Get real. Plus if you lead an active lifestyle like I do, having a treat like this once in awhile won't hurt at all. By the way, I made this burger twice: one with hamburger and one with a sausage patty. Sausage wins hands down. I think I'll make a third this weekend. Laughter only one who had it right 03/12/2008 at 09:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I would never make this recipe because I want to live to see my grandchildren, but I loved the postings and have to say that laughter is the only one who got it. Rest of you - make a judgment and get a life! This is TV! Change the Burger 03/11/2008 at 03:52pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I think this would be really good if you made the "burger" out of Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage - I think a sweet donut with the savory sausage, egg and bacon would be delish! Absolutely Delicious! 03/11/2008 at 11:57am User: A from Bronx, NY User Rating: Can you people get a life and grow up??!! YOU are responsible for what you put in your body, no one has you on a high-chair force feeding this to you. If you think this recipe is too unhealthy, DON'T MAKE IT! That's your business! You have NO right to force your way of thinking onto others! I personally don't think there's anything wrong with indulging once in a while. And when I feel like indulging I would prefer to eat something that is worth the calories & fat...and this is defintely worth every bite! Sausage vs. Hamburger 03/10/2008 at 05:23pm User: null from null, null User Rating: If you are interested in using the doughnuts as a bun, I suggest that you try a sausage patty instead of the beef hamburger patty. I personally can't have a burger without ketchup, but there is no way I would eat ketchup with doughnuts (gross!)... so I tried a sausage patty instead and it's really good! I also put some maple syrup on it as well and that was really good! Totally bad for my heart, but it was a great meal! :) Please .... 03/07/2008 at 05:30pm User: Joanna from Sarasota, FL User Rating: For everyone who is griping about Paula's recipes and whether or not, this is a open forum or whatever. I suggest you read at the top of the page. RECIPE REVIEW. Give your review and then go.. For the people who say that FN is being irresponsible for letting Paula make this recipe, What are you people 4 years old? We are all GROWN PEOPLE who make our own choices. Its just like the people who sue Mcdonalds for making them fat. Get real. I made it for a treat for my Mom . She loved it. I certainly wouldnt make it an everyday thing. People need to start making their own decisons and then take the consquences instead of finding someone to blame . Freedom of Speech 03/07/2008 at 04:35pm User: John from Fond du Lac, WI User Rating: This is an open forum for reviews and opinions. However, comments especially rude ones made by those hiding behind"anonymous" should not even be considered. If someone wants to make and eat this disgusting thing, that's their choice. But hopefully, most of the food network fans have more common sense than that. Hilarious! 03/05/2008 at 11:19am User: Anonymous User Rating: Hats off to the evil genius that came up with this preposterously nauseating concoction. It is truly, breathtakingly repellent. I have one question though; why not go for broke and also deep fry the whole hideous mass. Just a thought. In any event, thanks again for the laugh. ughhhhhhh 03/05/2008 at 01:02am User: Anonymous User Rating: get this woman off the air. she's just as annoying as rachel ray now and her recipes arent even nearly as creative. Rate on how it tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!! 03/04/2008 at 02:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: To all of the people who think this is an open forum,or a place to leave cooments for the producers are STUPID! The only ones who read these are viewers deceiding on whether to make or not. if it was hard or not tasty. GET A LIFE! I tried it and thought it was delicous on the muffins. And i added cheese YUMMY. Great Birthday dinner... just what the doctor ordered 03/04/2008 at 10:18am User: Anonymous User Rating: A half pound burger, a fried egg, 2 strips of bacon, all sanwiched between 2 glazed donughts? Why not go all out and add a slice or two of cheese and use chocolate covered doughnuts? Obviously over the top in calories, but we don't love Paula for her low cal recipes! 03/03/2008 at 01:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Anyone who has watched Paula knows that she seldom makes anything low cal/nutritious. I don't think it's fair to knock her recipes for this reason alone. Of course you wouldn't want to eat like Paula cooks all the time, but once in a while won't hurt. Watch Ellie if you're looking for healthy. Disgusting! 03/03/2008 at 01:32pm User: kristi from dallas, TX User Rating: I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and I agree-"if you don't like it, don't make it". BUT, you have to draw the line when producers are allowing anything to be thrown together just to make a show. The other recipes were very basic so I guess we needed some sort of over endulgent POP. That said the only way paula and her producers are going to know how viewers feel is to leave your comments. Unfortunately many of the FN stars that have been on for many years are losing their edge and are having to resort to something! Remember this is Breakfast & Lunch 02/29/2008 at 02:00pm User: Barbara from Arlington, TX User Rating: Just my two cents worth, but is Brunch not a combination word made up of Breakfast and Lunch? The meal is a combination of both as well. I have seen this very combination of foods on a Brunch Buffet. Don't tell me that you have never on occasion had a couple of donuts for breakfast and then later in the day enjoyed burger for lunch? What's the difference in the Health Values? It's all ends up the same place. Don't criticize Paula for suggesting putting them together as one. not a hater 02/27/2008 at 03:46pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I was raised in the South and love Paula's enthusiasm and have tried many of her recipes. I also love a good splurge every once in a while but this recipe should be added to "Paula's Hall of Shame," along with Krispy Kreme bread pudding and deep fried mac and cheese. My calculations put this burger (using donuts for buns) at over 1200 calories and 100 (!) grams of fat. It's just food porn. She really needs some help from her writers when she goes off the deep end like this. I DON'T expect Paula's show to focus on healthy recipes - it wouldn't be Paula - but this is just gross. Southerner???? 02/27/2008 at 03:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Was the south expanded and I wasn't aware of it?? What's the difference between what Paula made to McDonalds mcgriddle sandwiches, they have basically the same things on them..I'd like to know when Ohio and New York became southern states??? From Kentucky a real southern state!!!!! Very Irresponsible from Food Network 02/26/2008 at 11:14pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I hope you know a good cardiologist, because you are going to need one if you eat this burger. I am usually amazed when I watch Paula's show. I just can't believe that someone actually cooks with all that butter, mayo, and sugar. I was horrified when I watched her making this burger. It made me sick in my stomach. I think Paula is a sweet and wonderful person, but her recipes need to be toned down. I don't understand how the Food Network allowed this disturbing episode to be aired. Many viewers look up to the Food Network to learn how to cook, so they should show some responsibility. Our nation has a very serious problem with obesity and related diseases. Please don't make it worse! We need more healthy food shows. Dem is Good Eats 02/26/2008 at 08:47pm User: Boede from Fond du Lac, WI User Rating: That's the best idea I have heard since I invented the hard boiled egg and peanut butter sandwich. I had 2 of these with a side order of a defibrillator. Looking forward to my next cholesterol and blood sugar check. I would have given this a five star if it was made with a cream filled long john instead of a glazer. You rule Paula! Viewer for life! On regular hamburger buns this is great!! 02/26/2008 at 09:10am User: Kim from Lexington, KY User Rating: I have seen a burger with a fried egg on top before and have tried this, while pregnant, and loved it. I would probably not use a donut as a bun, but it was just an option. I have to admit that the past year or so I have not enjoyed the Paula Deen show as much as in the beginning and I agree that it is over the top lately. Having said that, I simply record the show and if it interests me I watch it and if it doesn't then I delete it. I would not watch it and then complain about it. I'm on your side, Paula!! burger buns 02/25/2008 at 06:44pm User: jill from redwood city, CA User Rating: I must tell you, I've been making this for my husband ON HAMBURGER BUNS for 2 decades. He used to get it at Fatburger in Los Angeles. It's his favorite meal of all time, but he only has it once a year. Read the recipe, the donuts are only a option, not a command. so yummy 02/25/2008 at 06:02pm User: stephanie from daleville, IN User Rating: my husband thought i was crazy when i told him about this sandwich, i just made some and he ate 2 they are wonderful thank you paula for this fabulous sandwich So delicious and over the top! 02/25/2008 at 04:30pm User: Carita from Los Angeles, CA User Rating: Wow, there are certainly some haters out there. Paula can make whatever she wants, it's her show. Some people need to seriously lighten up. There's nothing wrong with enjoying something terribly fattening once in a while and the lady's brunch burger was indeed sinful. The food network has a variety of shows that liken to individual tastes. This platform is for rating the recipe, not bashing the host for what recipes she decides to share with her audience. I liked the combination of sweet and savory, thank you Paula I love your show and will always be a devoted fan. Nobody will actually try this recipe, but.... 02/25/2008 at 02:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: OK since nobody else has actually tried this to review it, let me just say to the person who calculated the calories & came up with 800-something: If you look at the calorie & fat content of most entrees served at most chain restaurants, they are comparable to this (example: Chili's), including the salads. Having said that, I think Paula goes WAY over the top anymore. I used to like her, but like Rachael Ray, they have taken a few endearing qualities & gone too far with them so as to make her extremely annoying much of the time (Paula's Party is the worst, with the cackling and the "ya'lls".) Missing Burger Ingredient - LAUGHTER 02/24/2008 at 01:50pm User: Carol from Mukwonago, WI User Rating: First off I have to say that Paula has a lot of great recipes. I give this a rating of 3 stars for entertainment value. I have to say you rock Paula for making something so innocent and yet a disgusting combination of flavors into a weekend of laughter after watching the show and reading these reviews. It has been hilarious. Granted most people won't make a burger between 2 donuts but if that's how Paula likes her burgers - o well. Who knows, maybe she will feature sour cream and melted butter over ice cream on her next episode. That's her choice. All I can say is I have never laughed so hard. What happened? 02/24/2008 at 11:54am User: Anonymous User Rating: Having never left a review before, I have to ask, "What happened here?" I thought this was for reviewing recipes after trying them. Life is so short and it's so sad to see that people are actually spending time in front of the television, watching something that they obviously hate, and then taking the time to write a nasty review about it. Might I suggest that those of you who are so angry here, turn off the TV and do something with your life, what little precious time we have here, and find something to do that makes you happy. ALL Opinions Should be Welcomed 02/24/2008 at 10:58am User: Melina from Amsterdam, NY User Rating: To those of you who are comfortable eating a huge, massive burger with a fried egg and bacon on top of a glazed donut "bun" and are more concerned with its flavor than its nutritional value, you're entitled to that opinion. However, since this is an open forum REVIEW board, those of us who think that eating such a vulgar, revolting display of saturated fat, obesity-forming, heart-disease-inviting, vile concoction should be allowed equal say. We are Food Network viewers, too. We are invited to share our opinions, too. Don't forget that. I watch Paula Deen out of horrid fascination - I mean, some of the things this woman comes up with...I wouldn't eat her food if I were on the verge of death. THAT IS MY OPINION. (And I agree with the poster who wrote that this woman has become a caricature of herself.) Honestly people of America: think of it --- a hamburger on a glazed donut. Need I say more?? Make it with sausage instead 02/23/2008 at 11:30pm User: Cluelessinthekitchen from Beverly Hills, CA User Rating: Bob Evans or Jimmy Dean sausage patties would be WAY better to use instead of hamburger. Put some BBQ sauce on the sausage then samich them goodies between those Crispy Creams for some sweet, spicy, and savory. Yee haw! REVIEW THE RECIPES! 02/23/2008 at 07:53pm User: LeeAnn from El Cajon, CA User Rating: Did any of you actually try the recipe? This is a recipe review area, not a place to make sarcastic remarks. If you can't review the recipe, take your comments somewhere else, or just don't make them. Although the doughnuts were a little over the top, the burger, egg and bacon were excellent; especially on a toasted muffin or bagel. Thank you, Paula, for ALL of your recipes. You're a pleasure to watch. Calm Down 02/23/2008 at 06:00pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Although this is probably something most people won't try.....COMMON PEOPLE....lighten up....it's just a recipe.......I still like Paula....if you don't like the way it looks, DON'T MAKE IT. new lows 02/23/2008 at 04:25pm User: Kitty from columbus, OH User Rating: Paula Deen and FN should be ashamed. You both have sunk to new lows. As a born Southerner, no one I know has ever made or eaten anything like this. I am disgusted beyond belief with this woman who has become and over-the-top caricature of herself. She needs to go away -- aren't her 15 minutes up yet? Heart Attack on a Plate 02/23/2008 at 03:44pm User: Mary from Fond du Lac, WI User Rating: Are you kidding me? I couldn't believe i was hearing or seeing right. The only thing this recipe is good for is a good laugh. Paula must have been in the sun too long. We all make our own choices in what we eat, so she can come up with any weird combination she likes. I wouldn't waste my time on this foolishness. Bring back the good old recipes that show real southern cooking like she did when she first began on food network. Please don't rate it if you haven't made it! 02/23/2008 at 01:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have one question for the first reviewer of this recipe, as well as one point to make. My question: Why in the world are you even watching Paula Deen's show if you are concerned about healthy cooking? She makes no secret of the fact that she cares more about taste than healthiness of foods. As her aprons say, "I'm your cook, not your doctor!" My point: The Food Network does not claim to be a channel or website with only healthy foods. Thus, they have the perfect right to display recipes that may not be healthy, or that may even be downright unhealthy. The people who read the reviews of recipes are smart enough to realize that a burger surrounded by two doughnuts is not in any way healthy. What we want to know is: how does it taste? Reading your review wastes our time and misses the point of the review process. Unless you ate, please don't rate! SHAME ON YOU, FOOD NETWORK!!! 02/23/2008 at 11:08am User: laura from new York, NY User Rating: how can you possibly approve this recipe and allow it to be on your network?! While, at the same time, you are advertising Ellie Kruger's healthy living??? I added up the calories and fat grams for this burger and it equals to at least 850 calories, and 52 grams of fat!! Seriously??!! In a nation where obesity is a HUGE problem, how can you possibly be so irresponsible to allow this recipe to be on your network. Shame on you, food network. Be a little more responsible next time. And Paula - NO SELF RESPECTING SOUTHERNER EVER USES INSTANT GRITS!!!!!!! |
