Fudgy and moist

Super fudgy and moist!! Added about 1/4 of peanut butter to it, but that only gave a hint of peanut butter taste, so next time I may try more.

Not as good as other reviews

This was rated 5 stars, so I may have done something wrong. After 40 minutes of baking, the inside was still too soggy and outside was way too crunchy...

I expected better....

I thought a brownie recipe from Gale Gand should be a safe bet, but these were disappointing. They were flat (thin) and very grainy (too much sugar?). My kids ate them, but I didn't.

hmm..

The brownies were ok. I suggest either using a smaller pan, or double the recipe. They were really thin. Also, shorten the cooking time to about 20-30 minutes. Mine were sort of chewy, but all in all, were still pretty good.

Very Yummy

Just what I expected. I actually layered home made caramel in between the brownies before baking and had very good turtle brownies. I agree witht he 25 minutes, it took about 30-35 with the caramel in it.

I LOVE THEM!!!!

Delicious and Easy!

I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9"x13" pan for a party. Mine was done after about 30 minutes as well so it must be a typo as others have mentioned. It was chewy and chocolately. Everyone liked it. I drizzled some vanilla icing on top only because my daughter wanted it but it really does not need it. I have another brownie recipe from a well-known, trusted cookbook but when I was done, I couldn't tell that it was homemade. It actually tasted a lot like a box brownie mix. Why go through the trouble if it doesn't taste homemade, right? With this recipe, you can definitely tell that it was homemade. I will be using this recipe again and again.

good!!

The brownies were great! but I think they could have been baked for less time.We cooked them for 21 minets. so for next time try to cook it that long. But the the brownies were ok. But the brownies were very skinny. so we did it a second time and they were much better. So next time dubble it. But the best part was that they tast so much better if you dubble it and cooked it for less time.So remember to dubble and cook it for less time. Even a nine year old said it dident tast so well. If you do that I promise you they will come out perfect. And when we tried the second batch they tast so much better. See ya and thanks for the recipe!

These are the best brownies I have ever made!! They are super fudgy and very addictive!!! I too lessened my cooking time to 20min at 350 and they came out perfect!! I will be using this recipe from now on.

World's Most Dangerous Brownies!
09/28/2007 at 11:24pm
User: null from null, null    User Rating:
Be warned: these are extremely addictive brownies. They are incredibly easy to make. This is the first recipe I ever made so often I memorized the recipe. I've made it 3 or 4 times a week for the last month. I've tried several different brands of baking chocolate, unsweetened and semi sweet. I even made it with cocoa powder and shortening. Each batch, though distinctly different, was delicious. The most important thing to know about the recipe, noted in many other reviews, is that the given baking time is wrong. Thank you Gale Gand! Dark Chocolate

User: HOLLIE from Wernersville, PA    User Rating:
These are by far the fudgiest and most delicious brownies I have EVER had. I have just one suggestion for all of those fellow chocoholics out there. Use dark chocolate cocoa powder or bakers chocolate instead of milk chocolate. It make them even more sinful!!

Yum!!

I made these brownies and they were DELICIOUS. They were SO easy to make, I don't know why I ever bought boxed brownie mix! They were moist and fudgy and all around delicious. I like my brownies really dense and chocolaty, and this recipe definitely delivers. I added about 1/4 cup chocolate chips and-- to add on even more calories, haha-- drizzled caramel sauce on top. Yum!

I thought they were good, though nothing special, but my mom (who doesn't like brownies or chocolate cake) and my friends who are picky really loved this recipe! They weren't really fudgey, but I only had self-rising flour, so that might be why.

easy & delicious

I was looking for a brownie that wasn't too sweet, with a rich chocolate taste. This was it. The best part is that it is such an easy recipe. I did cook the brownies for less time - around 25 minutes. These tasted fantastic with heavy whipped cream and strawberries!

is this caramel???
01/27/2007 at 10:02pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
It didn't seem like there was enough chocolate in the recipe. My husband tried them and thought that they were caramel because they were sweet but no chocolately. I was so disappointed. A total waste of time. I actually ended up throwing them in the trash.

Easy and wonderful

The brownies are fudgy as promised. The sweet and chocolate flavors are just right, unlike most oversweetened brownie box mixes.

Mm...best of both worlds..

User: Akino from Woodside, NY    User Rating:
I think this is a very good recipe. I dont like my brownies too sweet and I was a lil low on sugar anyway so I only used 3/4c and I also noticed that the cooking time is indeed far off. I had them in for 25 as some recommended but I think even 20 mins would suffice. So as I made them I think they came out as a nice balance of cakey and fudgey.. which is a good balance. Itd probably be a bit more fudgy with less cooking time. I think the amt of flour is fine.. or else it would get too cakey which I dont like personally. But very easy and quick.

fudgy

I usually make Ina Garten's "outrageous Brownies", but didnt feel like making so many. I tried these and they are sooo good! They are not as cloyingly sweet as Ina's and have a great crackle on the top. I like that it makes a small amount..perfect for whipping up a craving for the famiy. I cooked for 30 minutes and that was plenty for perfect fudgey brownies! Please bring Gale back for shows! Love her!

This recipe was so easy and the brownies were wonderful! I received loads of compliments! So far I have tried one other brownie recipe before this one, but those brownies paled in comparison. I did mix in some chocolate chips just before pouring the batter and they turned out to be a great addition. My only warning is not to go by the 40 minute baking time -- mine were done in about 25 minutes!

I don't get all the hype. These brownies were good, but not all that distinguishable. They tasted like the packaged kind from the store. I like something with a little more pizazz.

I've made these brownies at least once a month for the past year. They are SO easy and I am now the designated "brownie maker" in the family. I always double the recipe and cook in a 9x13 pan. Never had them turn out bad. They always have an almost crunchy crust on top that is fabulous. Great with a cream cheese mixture dropped on top too (cream cheese and sugar or cream cheese mixed with cream cheese frosting both work great).

Yummy!

I made this and although it was slightly overcooked (my Mom's oven's fault, not the recipe), it was very yummy. My Mom, Dad and adult siblings all thought it was great! This is a keeper.

Very yummy, simple, and easy. Not as fudgy as I hoped, and I had to add nearly an extra cup of sugar to get it to the flavor I liked. But still, this is the best brownie recipe I've found.

I've made brownies from scratch a number of times, but this is far and away the best recipe I've ever used. These brownies are absolutely delicious and sinfully rich. I doubled the recipe and added a bit more flour to get the batter to a consistency I liked, but overall, it's a fantastic recipe and so easy to follow. If you're looking for a simple recipe that will yield delicious results, look no furthur.

This is the first time that I've made brownies from scratch and from now on I will never buy a prepared brownie mix. These were so easy and tasted better than the mix. They were fudgy and gooey. This is also the first brownie that I didn't need to frost because they are perfect as is!!!
