Loved it!

I loved the flavor the marinade gave the fish. My 4 yr old ate it up. Instead of juice from the orange I used OJ with mango juice and let it hang out for a little over an hour and then baked it. Don't be scared of the hot sauce, it wasn't hot at all. Definitely going to use this marinade again. As for the rice...not so much.

Very Good Combo

My family all enjoyed this dish. The fish was very tasty and perfectly seasoned, although I admit I didn't use as much hot sauce as indicated as we are not really big on spicy. The rice was also good and the mango and coconut gave it a fresh taste.

Bland Tilapia

The tilapia was very bland and had no taste. I couldn't taste the orange or ginger at all. It tasted just like a plain piece of tilapia.

family didn't like this. I thought it was ok but it could use a stronger flavor.

This receipe was easy to follow and did'nt take long to cook. I did not have the grill ready so I cooked it in a hot fry pan and it was wonderful. Tilapia is a very good, mild fish.

i absolutely loved this rice dish. the coconut gave it a really silky texture and just enough coconut flavor to make it sweet but not too sweet. the fish was a little bland for me. it needed some more bite.

Tasty

It was very tasty, but it didn't make me or my family jump in our seats. It's a good recipe to make if you like a light dinner. I didn't make the coconut rice, but I did make it with brown jasmine rice. It was a perfect companion to the fish.

A real wiiner!

YUMMY! This will absolutely be one of our favorite meals. I cannot tell you just how good it is, and easy too. I did not get to make the rice found out I was out. OH well I just pulled out some whole wheat pasta, made up a garlic and basil infused olive oil to pour over it and that was great too. You will be happy you did when you try it.

A fish recipe for people who don't really like fish much!

What a hit this fish was at our house. My neice made it after watching it on the show and she really doesn't care for fish much but had to try it anyway. She loved it. We all loved it even the people who really are not fish lovers. The marinade gave the fish a light and delicate flavor that was just delicious. We all agreed to keep the recipe to have again and again. The rice had more mixed reviews, but basically good. It needed a little more salt and I might cook it longer and add some almonds next time. I loved the texture that that coconut milk gave it.

Fantastic Taste !!!

I tried this recipe on an evening dinner for my husband and the taste on the tilapia was a soft orange taste, the the white rice with mango was great. I saw the other reviews on the rice, what I did was not lower the heat, and cooked it for about 10 more min., until there was no more liquid showing in the sauce pan. I used Jasmin rice and added about 1 teaspoon sugar and unsweetened coconut flakes to it. It does not come out mushy if you let the liquid dry out before turning it off to rest. Fantastic recipe "Ya All".

Just Okay

It was okay, but I found myself wishing that more of the flavor had soaked into the fish. Maybe it needs to marinate a little longer??

If you don't like fish-you'll like this fish!

This is the best fish I have ever had. I saw this recipe on Paula Dean in the afternoon and immediately went to the grocery store picked up Tilapia and a few items. Followed the simple directions and WOW! I cooked it on my indoor grill. What fantastic flavor and not an overly fishy taste. My 15 yr old will not eat fish-one bite of this and she is sold! Would make it again and again. Gotta try it-you'll love it!

Wonderful!!!

By far, this is the best fish recipe I have ever tried. I have had trouble in the past cooking fish but this turned out perfect. The orange and ginger marinade was wonderful, and the rice was beyond excellent and paired with the fish beautifully. This is a keeper!

So Easy and Delicious

I made the Tilapia and rice dish the other night for friends. It was so easy and quick. I marinated the fish for about 4 hours and it really absorbed the flavors. I didn't grill, instead just fried in the pan. The only change I made after reading the reviews was to add red pepper flakes to each fish just before cooking. My friends took home the recipe. The rice was a bit disappointing. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I did like the mangos. The only change I made to the rice was to add cilantro to give it some color. The rice was good but I thought it would have more flavor!!

Very disappointing

The way that Paula was going on and on about the fish on her show with her son.. I had to go out immediatly and try this recipe, my first with Paula. How disappointing!! Absolutely no flavor to the fish and the rice is just gross!

Excellent Marinade- Rice a little bland

After making this recipe I found the rice the be a little bland, especially when paired with the zesty tilapia. The second time I made it I double the amount of hot sauce and orange juice (as mentioned before, the hot sauce only provides flavor and doesn't not make the fish too spicey), and reduced the amount of oil. I let the fish marinade 2 hours instead of 30-60 mintues. I pan fried the fish (no grill available) and it turned out amazing! I topped the fish with a sour cream & wasabi dip (1/2 sour cream to 1 tsp wasabi paste- found in Asian food isle). I opted to exchange the mango coconut rice for a lime & cilantro rice cook in water and lime juice instead of milk. It gave it a little bit more bite and the citrus in the rice comlimented the orange and ginger of the fish quite nicely.

disappointing

Mine did not turn out well at all. My family generally loves tilapia and I had really high hopes for this but mine was not zesty nor tasty. Sorry.

Wow! Here was a recipe without "2 sticks of butter" or sourcream...and" ya know what?" it was perfect! Lite and delicious, and I loved the rice with it. The next time I make it though, I will "SPICE IT UP!" a little more ex: Ginger....Oh n of course, I used much much less oil.

This dish is very easy to make. It wasn't terribly zesty, but I eyeballed the hot sauce. It was very light and delicious. I paired it with rice pilaf and green beans.

Very flavorful

This is a very flavorful way to prepare tilapia. I halfed the salt in the recipe and was pleased with the results. Will make this again. Didn't like the rice as much, though the mango was really good. I think the coconut milk may bit over the top. But don't be shy about using lots of mango as it's quite tasty in the rice. I used frozen mango (thawed it first).

Foolproof and delicious!

I'd been banned from preparing fish ever again because of my many disasters in the seafood arena. I gave it one more shot because this one looked so good. It was better than good and so easy that even I couldn't destroy it! Very moist and flavorful. I marinated for 45 mins and used a non-stick indoor grill pan. I used jasmine rice for the Mango Coconut Rice recipe.

And the kids loved it too!

I prepare the fish according the recipe and several wrinkled noses appeared. I did just use a frying apn, not having a grill. The 3 picky eaters loved it (7, 8 & 66 - all male)! Not so the Rice but who cares! the fish was a hit! Even with my husband...no garlic or basil or cilantro!

So flavorful

The fish really absorbed so much flavor from the marinade in the two hours I had it in the frig...the only change I made was cutting the salt amount in half...I have low tolerance for salt and this adjustment seemed perfect for the fish. I did not try the rice, no coconut milk in my pantry, however, it sounds the perfect accompaniment to the fish. By the way, the heat from the hot sauce in the marinade is not apparent at all if anyone has concerns it might be too spicy, it merely adds flavor.
