The instructions for salting the salmon are excellent. Instead of dicing the salmon, I pull it away from the skin and shred it with my fingers.

I agree with Not Traditional. I learned this dish from friend who used a family recipe (delicious by the way). When I saw pineapple I was like what?? Now That's great for an interesting twist but call it something else. How about Tylers Pineapple Lomi? It's a shame because this came up #1 in a google search. People who are searching for a true Lomi Lomi salmon recipe online are not going to get the real thing with this.

The recipe is wonderful and works perfectly if followed as Tyler has laid out. Do allow enough time for the salt to do its work.

If everyone made the same dish the same way what's the point. Any reasonably intelligent person knows how to find traditional recipes on the net. Food Network has to be entertaining and original every day. Tyler's great.

it is very interesting to see COOKS out there today adding a new twist to traditional dishes... but, it is very sad that there trying to say in there show or replicate to otheres that the name of the dish is exactly how the recipe goes. NOT TRUE... like this dish called LOMILOMI SALMON. really to make this dish it really has only 4-5 ingredients.... so PLEASE call your own inventions another name.... THIS IS VERY INSULTING TO MY OWN HISTORY....
