I can't get enough of this breakfast treat. I prefer using a half pound of sausage instead of a full pound. Try this with chorizo!!

My husband loves bisquits and gravy. I have never tried to make the gravy. I thought it would be too difficult. When I saw Alton make it, I knew I could do it. Was my husband surprised to see his favorite breakfast Sunday morning. He wanted to know what the special occasion was. Thanks, Alton.

I am a truckdriver a huge SawMill Gravy and Biscuit Fan. I always get it when ever I stop at my favorite Truckstops. Now I make it when I'm home on my weekends. Alton has the best recipe I've found for it. Thanks Alton!

This recipe is text book sausage gravy. The only item that may need adjustment, depending on your taste, is the amount of sausage. It seemed to dominate the gravy a bit. This reduction would however compromise the amount of rendered grease you will have to make the roux for the gravy, but a little bit of butter offsets that.

this was great

easy to make and realy delicious. The sausage we used was very lean, so we added butter to the recipe to cook the flour. this worked out really well.

This gravy is so wonderful. I did add some butter to the mix because my sausage did not render much grease.

This is the same recipe my family uses for sausage gravy over biscuits. Great gravy over Mashed potatoes, over french fries, and Pork chops. Try it!

Apparently I have be making my gravy wrong for years. This is very good gravy even doubling and leaving out the sausage for of the kids it turned out great. I ended up leaving out some of the milk and it came out nice and thick and creamy. Excellent!!

Better then famous Bob restaurant

Forget restaurant breakfast sausage gravy, this has more flavor. You can adjust the consistency to your liking by adding or decreasing milk.

Awesome!

I love gravy, and Sawmill Gravy is one of the best, I tried this recipe and this was the first gravy that came out good. It was not lumpy, Easy to fix. Only bad thing is that I think it has a little to much sausage, next batch I will cut back a little. Thanks

I fooled my Dad - a die hard Biscuit and Gravy fan - only Hardees though. I used a peppery sausage - it was so delicious.... Enjoy.

My husband said these were the best biscuits and gravy he ever had, and it was my first time making biscuits and gravy ever, the only other ones he had was at restaurants. I, like other reviewers, didn't get 2 tablespoons of fat left over, so I just added canola oil. No lumps, good consistency, great taste.
