easy to follow recipe but not very good on taste. it had a very gritty feel to it and just didn't blend well together.

Let's finish the recipe...

This recipe is a good place to start. Here are my suggestions to make it sooooo much better...use red potatoes w/skin on. No need to bake a potato separately. Boil and cook the potatoes, onions and add 1 or 2 cloves of garlic and bouquet garni to the chicken broth. (You will need to up the amount of chicken broth.) After this is done cooking, mash potatoes (don't worry about getting all the lumps out). Add cream, sour cream, scallions (use all of the green onion) and bacon. Heat through. Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. Serve and sprinkle more bacon bits and shredded cheese on top. Enjoy!

Excellent recipe, super, super easy, I would just eliminate the salt and add later per personal taste. I added some grated chedder cheese and 1 tsp of flour. It was very good. Real crowd pleaser

I couldn't get the onions and potatoes to puree in the food processor so I cooked them in chunks for the 2 hours. Then I beat it all an eggbeater. It turned out very well.

I made this for my boyfriend with Alton Brown's Corn Bread Pudding. They worked well together and we both really enjoyed the meal. Be warned, the soup is pretty blah without the cheese.

This recipe makes a LOT of soup, but it is pretty delicious. I didn't put as many onions as the recipe called for but it was great. (The cheese can just as easily be melted in the microwave to save a little time.)

I thought this was the best potato soup I have ever had. I was expecting to have a long drawn out process when making potato soup having never made it before. Tis recipe is so easy and quick. I would reccomend this recipe to anyone. Excellent. If you want a hearty and filling creamy soup this is an excellent choice.

It's very good and easy (with revisions)

I just cut up all the raw potatos and threw them in a crock pot for a few hours with everything except the cheese and cream until the potatos were mushy. Then, I mashed them w/ a potato masher, added cheese and cream and was done. I've served it numerous times this way and everyone loved it.

Thank you for giving us this inexpensive, delicious soup recipe. It smelled kinda weird for about the first hour & half, then mellowed out by the 2hr mark, TASTES reallly goood. ( I had to increase my liquid,in the beginning, and I used more chix broth & I added double the tyme sprigs--then removed stems before serving) YUM, would make again!~!~!

I didn't really care for this recipe. It was too much work for so little flavor.
