Excellent and then some 12/26/2004 at 12:01pm User: CHARLES from Emporium, PA User Rating: I made this for Christmas dinner with raves from everybody. We also had mashed sweet potatoes with roasted walnuts and brown sugar. I put a couple of dollops on the chesnut soup serving and the results were unbelievably delicious. Great Holiday Starter! 12/25/2005 at 08:52am User: Margot from Miami, FL User Rating: I made this with fresh chestnuts that I roasted the day before. Not worth all of the extra work, I definately will buy canned next time. Also made it with my leftover turkey stock from Thanskgiving. This is a rich and savory soup which can be served to the most discerning guest. Kudos Sara! Fantastic! 11/28/2006 at 09:53am User: Anonymous User Rating: This was great- I made it to use up leftover chestnuts from my Thanksgiving stuffing and it was just fantastic. So flavorful! wow 10/26/2007 at 04:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: made this for company and it was fabulous. the only downside - very expensive ingredients!! will def make again! A Great Soup! 03/24/2005 at 12:59pm User: Tony from Des Moines, WA User Rating: Made this soup as an appetizer for a prime rib dinner. What a wonderful starter! Our guests raved about it! To finish the dish, after portioning into individual bowls, I drizzled a bit more sherry on top of each. I topped the soup with a dollop of creme fraiche. Then, instead of the frizzled leek, I sprinkled a chopped roasted chestnut on the creme fraiche. Elegant! |
