Good Cooking 12/21/2004 at 07:34pm User: LAUREN from Englewood, CO User Rating: Very quick and easy to prepare. Simplistic but full of flavor. This is a dish that I would definitely reccommend to beginner cooks. I use olive oil instead of chile oil to make it less spicy and it still turned out fabulous. Spicy Chicken with Peppers and Basil 12/14/2004 at 11:05am User: Anonymous User Rating: It's got a great combination of balance of Thai spices. My friends and family always ask me to make it. A Little Lacking 11/06/2005 at 03:06pm User: RENEE from Thiensville, WI User Rating: Nice, solid, recipe. The salad dressing was great, but the chicken lacked something . . . . Fantastic 10/21/2004 at 05:10pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was great. I personally would use a little more hot sauce and garlic and slightly less butter. I think it would be great served over angel hair pasta with a good garlic bread as a main course. This recipe is not identical to basil chicken on a thai menu, but it is similar and SO YUMMY and EASY. It has become an instant favorite recipe!! It is also easy to get creative with add ins too! just like takeout thai 09/13/2005 at 06:35pm User: JOANNE from Roswell, GA User Rating: tasted exactly like the thai dish i always order when dining out. great dish! needs something 09/11/2007 at 07:37am User: Jennifer from Nashua, NH User Rating: It was a good recipe but luckily I tasted it before taking it off the stove. it was missing a couple of things. Salt for one and some extra red pepper flakes, and then I added a few tablespoons of peanutbutter and everyone LOVED it. It turned it from "eh" to "wow" Good 09/06/2005 at 03:33pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very tasty. Not much sauce though. Easy Thai 09/02/2006 at 07:29pm User: jane from miami, FL User Rating: This is a wonderful, fresh and easy recipe to have on standby. The flavours are lovely and its v. easy to make. Easy and Excellent 08/23/2005 at 01:27pm User: JERRY from seaside, OR User Rating: This has become a family favorite. We also serve for it for guests because it is quick, easy and makes a really pretty plate. It has become a big hit and is a great way to use the basil that is growing in our garden. The salad is good too but I did have a problem with the dressing "breaking" so now I just use bottled peanut dressing. YUM YUM GOTTA TRY SOME! 08/22/2006 at 09:43pm User: Kristin from atlnta, GA User Rating: This meal was absolutely yummy! I ws nervous when preparing it because I wasn't sure about the fish sauce, but when I had my first bite I was really pleased. I made the meal for my sister and nephew and we added sweet and sour sauce but it didn't need it at all. WAY TOO HOT and SPICY!!! 08/19/2007 at 12:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It would be good if you skipped the spicy oil, but as is it was ridiculously hot and spicy, I threw it out. Fastest cooking, Most delicious 08/19/2005 at 03:57pm User: aeman from fremont, CA User Rating: This recipe took me 15 minutes to make and it tastes better than what you would get at a Thai restaurant. I love it! I could not find the fish sauce though, but even without it the chicken tasted heavenly. Love it! 08/18/2005 at 09:50pm User: STEPHANIE from Tucson, AZ User Rating: This dish is SO delicious - I make it a few times a month. I love to drizzle the peanut sauce over it. In another review, someone said that they'd use less butter, but there's no butter in this recipe!!!!! Delicious 08/10/2007 at 10:31am User: Heather from Columbia, SC User Rating: Great recipe! Although it does not allow for a lot of extra sauce to spoon over rice. That is the one thing that I would adjust. Fantastic meal! 07/18/2005 at 03:39pm User: Felicity from Creedmoor, NC User Rating: My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this recipe, it was quick and easy to make, the longest part was cooking the rice! I didn?t have any fish oil (couldn?t find it at the supermarket) so I didn?t use any, it still tasted wonderful. Add this one to your rotation 06/28/2006 at 11:04pm User: Lauren from west lafayette, IN User Rating: This is a favorite of mine. You can't go wrong with this one. It is a crowd pleaser. I made it for my very picky boyfriend, and he loves it. He even takes the left overs in his lunch the next day. I also made it for my sister when she was a house guest. She loved it too! Spicy Chicken with Peppers and Basil 06/21/2005 at 05:48pm User: Rachael from Tarrytown, NY User Rating: This was absolutely phenomenal. If you put some Jasmine Rice in a bowl and put the chicken and peppers on top of the rice, its really colorful and very delicous. not keen on this one 06/20/2005 at 03:48pm User: MARION from austin, TX User Rating: found this recipe a little bland . My boyfriend didn't like it at all SOOOO YUMMY! 06/17/2006 at 08:56pm User: Kim from Peru, IN User Rating: My husband loves this dish..I make it with either the chicken orthin sliced beef...both are awesome. very easy, very good 06/14/2007 at 03:19pm User: Susannah from Arlington, VA User Rating: Didn't change a thing and I loved it. Better than what you get in a resturant 06/13/2007 at 05:43pm User: Xiao Xian from Cincinnati, OH User Rating: I love thai food and this is very similar to what you get in a thai resturant, except even better. I usually like to marinate the chicken in a bit of soy sause before cooking. Tastes great! New Thai 06/12/2007 at 02:34pm User: Grace from Essex Junction, VT User Rating: Easy and delicious! I would recommend it to anyone. Very tasty w/Peanut Dressing on Chx & Peppers 06/11/2004 at 06:28pm User: THERESE from Coraopolis, PA User Rating: I used about 1/4 cup of dried basil and added a can of bean sprouts and a thinly sliced carrot (from the salad) to the stir fry. I served the stir fry over brown rice and drizzled it with the peanut dressing. I'm usually not a big fan of peanut dressing, but it definitely enhanced the flavors in the stir fry -- I thought this meal was absolutely delicious. I've made it several times and, now that I have basil growing in my garden, I'll be trying it with fresh ingredients. Yumm-o 06/03/2004 at 05:13pm User: STEPHANIE from Los Angeles, CA User Rating: I just made this last week and I must say... Rachael has done it again. I have yet to try one of her recipes and not have it become my "new" favorite. I am just starting to explore the kitchen and the entire cooking process, so RR's recipes are a great way for me to learn. This chicken dish is fantastic over a pile of rice! Spicy Chicken, also has salad with peanut dressing 05/26/2004 at 09:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not Rated see title so good 05/08/2008 at 01:43pm User: K from loveland, CO User Rating: just spicy enough, easy, and delicious. i saved money by making it myself Way better than take out! 05/06/2006 at 12:58pm User: JOHN from gainesville, FL User Rating: This is definitely on the list of recipes we'll be making again. So far, it's the best recipe of hers I've made. Excellent and Easy 05/04/2007 at 06:02pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have served this dish to many relatives, and everyone loves it. It is very easy to add or take out ingredients to customize for your own taste. This is a must try! 04/25/2008 at 08:00pm User: Amy from Justin, TX User Rating: This was delicious! Great alternative to plain old chicken & rice. If you are hesitant about the fish sauce like I was, try it anyways! It adds a nice mild flavor in the background. It was a little on the bland side, mine definately needed salt when I was eating. Also not spicy enough for me but I didn't want to overload my 3 year old. I ended up adding more chili oil to my bowl. I also finished with some sliced scallions. DELISH!! And this was probably one of the quickest dinners I've made!! Came together so quickly. Can't argue with the taste 04/25/2006 at 10:50pm User: Marc from valencia, CA User Rating: I'm a fairly seasoned chef, and to be honest I didn't expect much from this dish, especially since I'd just run out of fish sauce. And though it only took about 15 minutes to prepare, the taste was, in a word, delicious. Using fresh basil is key, and I'd suggest Thai basil if you want to keep the taste authentic. I'll definitely be making this the next time I need a quick dinner. I substituted soy sauce for fish sauce, which is fine in a pinch. I also added a little chicken stock to create more sauce. Great tasting dish! Spicy Chicken 03/14/2006 at 12:04pm User: Janine from Chino Hills, CA User Rating: Good recipe...the best part was the salad with the peanut dressing. Awesome! 03/04/2007 at 04:04pm User: Robert from charlotte, NC User Rating: I loved this recipe so much- I made it again 2 days later! (I used only chili oil, instead of the mix of oils) WOW! It was every bit as good as my favorite Thai restuarant!)Way to go Rachael! Good 03/03/2005 at 07:30pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is quick and easy!! And soo good!! Rachel is always a great helper for fast and very good food!! Thanks pretty good, but... 02/28/2007 at 01:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I absolutely loved the ease of this recipe and that it required very few ingredients. It smelled and looked sooo good, but unfortunately, I felt the taste was lacking something and I was disappointed that there really wasn't any sauce. So I researched the recipe online and decided that next time I will use peanut oil instead of chili oil, add a tbsp of brown sugar, 1-2 tbsp of water, and 1 tbsp of low sodium soy sauce. I might throw in a little ginger as well. I think that will help. I love spicy food but I don't think this dish has to be spicy to be good. Fantastic 02/23/2005 at 06:34pm User: JOEL from Londonderry, NH User Rating: From a typically unhealthy eater: awesome. Easy, quick and healthy. Will become a staple in our house. Better Than The Restaurant ! 02/19/2005 at 08:11am User: ADRIENNE from Wheaton, IL User Rating: The flavor combos are "right on" here. Incredible. With the jasmine rice and the fabulous Thai salad with the delicious peanut dressing......you'll make this often. Great for beginners, but I'll bet those seasoned cooks out there switch to this one "in less than 30 minutes"! chicken is king 02/18/2006 at 07:24pm User: Crystal from Salisbury, NC User Rating: this is the best chicken I have had in a long time. Thank you R R for inspiring me to cook again. Yummmmmm..... 01/27/2007 at 12:18pm User: A from Lincoln, NE User Rating: These recipe couldn't have been easier or faster. The flavor was delicious and as good as what I can get at my local Thai place. My German boyfriend wanted something different than rice so we served these over curry mashed potatoes and so it made an interested Asian-inspired comfort food. Delicious. |
