So easy and yet so tasty! Made it in no time. I did substitute cayenne pepper for the crushed red pepper. Used the liquid from the chickpeas so I didn't need that much EVOO. Will definately make again.

Fantastic. I make hummus a lot and this one was my favorite! You do need more a splash of oil, I use the liquid from the chickpeas.

My husband was not a Hummus fan until I made this. We tried store bought and several different recipes, but this one by far is the winner. It's a big hit at parties, but I agree, it needs more oilve oil.

Rachael, you're right on again. This is a traditional recipe and is easily adjusted for personal taste. More garlic, more heat, it's up to the individual. Your basic recipe is what most of my family has prepared for generations.

very tasty

I am not too fond of humus but I changed my mind when I made this. This is sooo much better than the store bought humus. I found it to be a bit on the dry side but I added some more lemon juice and water to it and came out great. Love it!

Love it!

I love this hummus recipe - very, very easy. I also agree that it takes just a tad more than a drizzle of oil to get the mixture to move around the processer. I have started to add fresh cilantro to mine. Fabulous!

Tried using blender. Pretty difficult without food processor. Double the batch because one won't be enough.

I added only about 1 tsp of olive oil and added ALOT of chicken broth instead of more olive oil. Still, this is very tasty and smooth!

But you definitely need to add more oil to make it work--I also added more tahini to mine. The result was quite yummy!

this is a good and easy recipe. I certainly will make it again. Instead of pepper flakes, I used ground cayene pepper. the next time I make it ,I will try diced onions. sounds good.

Great recipe... takes a little more than a drizzle of EVOO to get the right consistency.

It is easy!

Very easy to make, you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry. I have another recipe that does not call for Tahini and actually think it is better, but no doubt, this is very good.

Very few ingredients for a tasty spread (or dip). Great for entertaining or munching with veggies in front of the tube.

As a hummus fan I was excited to try to make my own. For some reason I could not get the consistency and flavors right with this recipe. It either tasted too strong of tahini, or was of an oily consistency, etc. I threw the whole batch out and will just buy it from now on. My first Rachael recipe disaster! :(

friends love it

Great things to do with chicpeas. Never had much call for them. Try a dab of chipolte for a mouth gripping eye watering adventure...

Very yummy. We used cayenne pepper rather than pepper flakes so that our 5 year old wouldn't see the evidence of pepper...also, we added sun dried tomatoes to the recipe...OH SO Good!!!

This was SCRUMPTIOUS! I had to add a little water to mine, as my blender seemed to need extra moisture, but when I was through, it was better than the store........and MUCH CHEEPER than what I have to pay for a small can in the supermarket.

I made this as an appetizer for a party, and it was a big hit. It definitely needs a few drizzles of EVOO. I used half of an extra large clove of garlic and served with garlic pita chips. This recipe is replacing my old hummus recipe.

It was super easy to make, but you do need to add much more than a "drizzle" of olive oil to get the hummus to the right consistancy.

The ingrediants may not normally be in your pantry, but this appetizer is a constant success. Slight spicy taste of the hummus with a warm, crispy pita... can't be beat!

User: Jen from West Lafayette, IN    User Rating:
This recipe is tasty, but if you follow it exactly you're going to have some really dry hummus. You need to save some of the water from the can of chickpeas or just add some extra.

So good!

I've never had good luck making hummus before trying this recipe. It is amazing. I added roasted red peppers.
