I had two friends to diner and did 2 chickens, fryers not roasters. We dined like royalty on the most succulent chicken you can imagine. This was beyond easy, I added about a half tbls of minced garlic to the can of beer before I stuffed it with rosemary. I also made a rub of kosher salt, tarragon and poultry seasoning. This recipe is wonderful.

Mmmmm...

My husband wanted to try your chicken recipe, but with a small difference. He put it in the smoker. However, he couldn't get a beer can inside our chicken, so he put the beer in the water bowl along with the rosemary. It was delicious. Guess we need to get a chicken with a bigger opening next time.

Too easy to taste this good

Chicken self-basted in booze rules! I've altered this recipe a bit, using 1/4 can of chicken broth and filling the rest of the can with Marsala wine (remove paper from can first- sounds like a no brainer, but I possessed no brain one day and forgot!)for a richer flavor (beer makes it very yeasty). The hardest part is defrosting the chicken, honestly.

VERY GOOD. A LITTLE TOO SALTY, WOULD NOT PUT TOO MUCH SALT NEXT TIME. A LITTLE HARD TO REMOVE THE BEER CAN. THE CHICKEN WAS VERY MOIST.

User: JOSEPH from Fort Lauderdale, FL    User Rating:
The most difficult part of this meal is trying to balance the chicken on the grill! =) (Hint: don't drink too much of the beer BEFORE attempting this balancing act!) It's a winner in our family. Super moist white meat, fabulous flavors throughout the whole chicken. Top all that with the ease of preparation and we've got a weekend favorite, rain or shine!

We didn't really enjoy this too much. It was easy enough but the rub was a little too salty. It wasn't that much better than a rotisserie chicken you'd get at the grocery store.

Fabulous!

This was the tastiest chicken I've ever made. The meat was cooked perfectly, even the thighs and legs. Be careful with the salt mixture or it could be too salty; but what flavor!

User: CINDY from Amherst, NH    User Rating:
Easy to prepare and so moist, you can't help but love this recipe. I would suggest a light beer however. We tried a dark, heavy one once and the results were disappointing. The heavy beer overpowered the delicate chicken flavor. Other than that, this was just amazing. Who comes up with this stuff?

They don't get any easier than this. The chicken is absolutely wonderful. It's a great way to use up some of that rosemary ! I use a gas grill, indirect heat. It works fine. Also have used the oven. No problem. You can make it even easier with the racks they sell at Bed Bath and Beyond that hold the beer can. Nice ! I make two at a time. One for tonight and one for tomorrow.

This is a direct hit with chicken. I have made this many times and have also used minced garlic with the rosemarie inside the beer. Target sells an upright chicken holder gadget to use instead of the beer can. It still holds the important beer and is easier to clean than burnt chicken juices in your bar bq. It is located in the outdoor section of Target and might be a consideration.

This is a fun, super easy recipe that worked flawlessly. It turned out looking as golden delicious as shown in the photo. I didn't have a charcoal grill large enough and didn't want to do it with propane so chose to cook in the oven. I began at 375, then 325 and finished at 300 for a total time of 75 minutes (2 birds at 3.5 lbs each). This was another winner! Thanks Paula.

This is the most delicious chicken I've ever eaten! It's so easy, too, and while it's cooking (I did mine in the oven on 400 degrees) your mouth will water from the aroma it gives off! I have told everyone I know to try this and they all rave about it. Paula, you rock!

Amazing!!!!

User: Simonetta from Greenlawn, NY    User Rating:
Always looking for a quick, easy and DELICIOUS roasted chicken recipe, and I have found it!! The beer keeps the chicken moist and tender. Cooked the chicken in oven at 400 degrees for over an hour. Only problem I had was the chicken toppled over once most of the beer evaporated out of the can. Try to prop up the chicken first with skewers or something before cooking, so this doesn't happen to you! A definite repeat in my house!!!
