The Ultimate Banana Pudding Recipe! Even those who were not necessarily fond of banana pudding loved it! But it is sooo decadent. It certainly isn't the Jello Pudding recipe we all grew up with.

"Blow Them Out of the Water" Dessert!

User: Phyllis from Ojai, CA    User Rating:
When I made Paula's banana dessert for Christmas dinner, I had no idea it would be so delicious. My son and husband ate half of the 9x-13 dish all by themselves! It is even better the next day after the cookies have softened! "The Chessman cookies make this dessert, " said my husband. "Don't use those vanilla wafers again!" I thought it was going to be super rich when I tasted the filling, but after sitting in the refrigerator, it was light and not too sweet. I sprinkled some freshly grated nutmeg over the top and it really added something special.

My husband loves no-bake banana pudding. He loved this recipe (I hate bananas). I made it for Chismanzaa and it was a HIT. He recommended that I make it the day of so the bananas would be fresher. I would suggest one more bag of cookies so that every inch is covered. Thanx Paula!

This is a real crowd pleaser. It is fantastic in the summer - cool and refreshing. You can reduce the cost somewhat by substituting Nilla Wafers for the chessmen cookies. Great recipe and so easy too!

User: JOHN from Charlotte, NC    User Rating:
I tried this pudding for Christmas and it was excellent. I had to make 2 batches, so I made a slight modification. I used the least expensive Shortbread cookies I could find instead of the Cheesmen due to the cost (about $7.00 a batch). It still turned out great and numerous people wanted the recipe. I am somewhat of a food snob and didn't know about the instant pudding and Cool Whip, but you couldn't tell it. Excellent pudding.

This is simply the best banana pudding recipe I have come across. My husband who is not a big sweets eater flipped over this recipe. I've made it 3X in the last 2 weeks need I say more. Creamy, rich and just terrific. The last time I made it I swapped banana cream pudding for the french vanilla, and it was over the top with banana flavor- I will use the banana cream pudding from now on.

The dessert was absolutely delightful! It was rich, creamy, and sweet (maybe a little too sweet if you can't handle it). Also, if you're a banana lover, be sure to add in more bananas. I put in 6 bananas, and after it was refrigerated and stored with all cream pudding, it tasted different and much better. I put in some more bananas after I was done making it, but it wasn't as good as the bananas originally put in.

First, let me say that I don't even like pudding. My father makes a legendary banana pudding that the family enjoys. His is made with vanilla wafers and a merangue topping. This banana pudding is as good (or better!). My husband begs me to make it again and the only reason I won't is because I don't think we need the fat and calories, but this is quite an impressive recipe for a special occasion. I'm a food snob and I don't normally like convenience foods, but this recipe works well. The only thing I noticed is that the recipe makes a bit too much of the "pudding" and I didn't use it all in my dish, but it tastes so good, you can eat it alone! Be sure to serve this banana pudding the same day you make it, because the cookies do get soggy after a while.

I have made this many times, with different variations and it's always a hit. For Paula's recipe, I use vanilla wafers instead of the Chessman cookies. I also turn this recipe into wonderful parfaits. Instead of the bananas and cookies, try Oreos, or strawberries. No matter the combination, the result is always the same - YUMMY!

I made this recipie a few times before I rechecked my ingredients. I had been using an 8 oz. coolwhip, so I tried with the recomended 12 oz. BIG mistake. The 8 oz. Is all you need, it is not overly sweet that way.

I made this for my husband's family for Thanksgiving... we couldn't stay for the meal, but apparently it was very well received! I've made it many times, always to rave reviews. It definitely is better after refrigeration for a day (or overnight) to let the cookies soften. Crunchy cookies kind of take away from the soft, homey quality of the dessert. Thanks, Paula, for a new family favorite!

This was good and I was really anxious to try this one. I think the cookies did not soften up enough for me before the bananas turned dark. Really the longer it sat in the refrigerator, the better it got, but the presentation was bad because of the bananas turning dark.

I had the pudding, etc. - only thing I didn't have was the cookies so I used a graham cracker crumb crust and basically made up this recipe. It was SO good and I didn't write down what I put in there. Would ya believe the very next day Paula was there with this recipe!?! I've printed it out and I'm gonna make it (her way this time). Can't wait - neither can hubby! I already know it's gonna be delicious!!!

This is my favorite version of banana puddin'. It's not as dense as most banana puddings, but it's nice and rich thanks to the cream cheese and whipped topping. I'm never able to find the 5-oz box of *instant* french vanilla pudding locally, so I get two of the smaller boxes and use all of one box and about 2/3 of the other box. Works great.

This was really yummy, but a very heavy, rich pudding... I like mine with a lighter texture, but the taste is wonderful. It makes a LOT... I doubt my hubby and I will be able to finish it before the bananas start to turn brown, so next time I'll cut this recipe in half, unless it's for a crowd. I liked the Chessman cookies with this. I'm not a big Nilla wafer fan, so this was a really nice change from the everyday banana pudding. The Chessman cookies make it taste like pie crust. I'll probably not use the sweetened condensed milk next time to make the texture lighter and fluffier. In the end, it's a really good dessert and you should try it!
