Simple and Delicious!

User: Becky from South Bend, IN    User Rating:
This recipe was fast and easy - and made plenty for leftovers! Plus, the recipe is easy to mix up - I sub ground turkey breast for part of the sausage, sometimes asparagus instead of peas, etc. My toddler especially loves this dish!!

This one is a keeper!

User: Wailong from Alexandria, VA    User Rating:
It is very easy to make and very tasty. I have made it a few times already and my boyfriend loves it! The first time I made it I did not have crushed tomatoes, so I used diced tomatoes instead. It turned out great and I actually like it better than using the crushed tomatoes because the sauce is lighter and you get the little bits of tomatoes!

Delicious-a do over

User: Tracey from West Trenton, NJ    User Rating:
This pasta was delicious. I will definitely make it again. I recommend making it, letting it cool, then reheating it. The flavors blend perfectly that way. It has just the right amount of kick using the hot sausage with the sweet.

A Fine Recipe!

This was a wonderful dish! I had no trouble with grease, possibly because I preheated the pan before adding the EVOO, as Rachel suggested - there was NO grease. It was quick and easy. As I don't use salt, it is my habit to add about 2 tablespoons of butter to the pasta immediately after it is drained, and then I add Mrs. Dash. This gave the pasta a wonderful taste and was a nice addition to the dish. This will definitely show up on my table again! Thank You, Rachel!

I make this dish several times a month and consider it my signature dish when I cook for my wife. It's very very easy to make and it tastes great. There is no need for seasoning since the sausages take care of that. I have yet to find another dish that is this easy and this tasty at the same time.

USE KIELBASA!!
01/20/2008 at 10:19pm
User: A from Townville, CA    User Rating:
For all of you who may not like the grease from regular sausage, I just use a pound of polish kielbasa (I prefer this type of sausage anyway) and cut it up for this recipe. Also, this last time making it I had to adjust the sauce ingredients--it still tasted awesome. I used a 15 oz can of fire roasted tomatoes and most of a 10 oz can of tomato sauce. I think I might make it this way from now on actually. I soooooo recommend this!!!

User: Kathryn from Goshen, NY    User Rating:
This pasta has made it into my monthly meal plan. My whole family loves this pasta and it is so easy to make my husband even makes it from time to time. My only problem is that the bulk sausage does not crumble easily so we have just been cutting up whole sausages - it keeps the flavor but makes it much easier to prepare

Nothing Peasant About It!

User: Christina from Los Altos, CA    User Rating:
This pasta is actually... to die for! The only reason why I made it was because I had all of the stuff to make it at home already.. so in all honesty, I wasn't expecting much. I absolutely LOVED it! I added a little bit more (maybe even doubled) the cream because who doesn't like cream?! I only made it for 2 of us, so there were plenty of leftovers to enjoy!

Just ok
09/27/2007 at 08:46pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
This is just ok. I've made it twice and it was better the second time because I doctored it up a bit. I added some tomato sauce and tomato paste to give it a little more depth and added some red pepper flakes to give it some kick. I also added some grated parm cheese to thicken the sauce.

Awesome!
09/26/2007 at 05:27pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I loved this dish!! I made some adjustments also: I don?t like peas, so I used mushrooms instead. I added one white onion (I sauteed them before I added the garlic). I used fat free half and half instead of heavy whipping cream. I used high fiber pasta (same calories as wheat pasta) I only used one pound of meat (owens italian sausage) bc I didn?t want it to be too meaty. And of course, more garlic and crushed red peppers.

Very Good!

I tried this recipe the other night and it was great! So yummy, and you can't forget to add the peas, I was kinda hesitant about them but I'm glad I added them, they just give that extra something that makes the meal even better! And my husband who isn't a big tomato person loved it to!

User: billie from brewster, OH    User Rating:
My family really loved this pasta. It was so easy to make, and didn't take long at all. I really think this pasta tasted so much better than most pasta dishes I've ate at restaurants. I didn't use the fresh basil though because I couldn't find any at the store. So, I used dried basil. I loved the sauce so much that I think next time I will get some garlic bread sticks to clean the bowl out. Great!!

A terrific dish to make for a large group, it is hearty and the sauce is delicious and complex. In my family, peas aren't very popular, so I swapped out the peas and added a green pepper and a sweet onion, both finely chopped. Still tastes great! A big plus is that for so little work, it makes a lot. So save room in the fridge for leftovers!

I've made this 5 times in two weeks because of popular demand from the rest of my family! It's a great dish for beginners because the cooking is easy, but the results are rich and impressive. By the way--if you inadvertently pick up crushed tomatoes that are 'flavored,' I've found that some parmesean-romano cheese mixed in balances it out a good deal.

To those reviewers who thought the sausage was too greasy... DRAIN IT after you brown the meat. Don't give the recipe a one-star because you didn't use common sense.

So much flavor for such a little time. I added some onions just before the garlic. The ratio of hot to mild sausage is perfect. Keep up the good work Rachael!

The only thing I did differently was that I drained the grease from the pan before I deglazed it. This was a major hit! It made A LOT of food!

Served this to a crowd and it was a HUGE hit. So good and so simple. I omitted the hot italian sausage and also made a small batch without any sausage for the family vegetarians and it was still fabulous!

Good basic recipe, but GREASY!

I didn't see this episode and would be curious to watch it. Like others have noted, this quantity of sausage produces a LOT of grease....I poured some off, but left some since the recipe referred to deglazing the fat in the pan. Mine still turned out very greasy. My husband, who loves pasta and sausage, didn't enjoy this as much as some other recipes I've made. The basic flavors here are good, but I'm going to play with this a bit more if I ever try it again.

I thought this would be too heavy a sauce but it is VERY delish! The only thing I changed, because I like hot and spicy, is I put equal parts of hot and sweet sausage. It was great. I sent some to a family member who loved the sauce so much that ate the sauce without the pasta. Its quick, easy and great. Make enough for a second meal, you wont be sorry

The whole family loved this super easy recipe, and I have some picky eaters. It is similar to a recipe I have made before but w/o the sausage and my husband said the sausage makes it one of his favorites. ALL the kids LOVED it too (Ages 2,4,7) and that doesn't happen too often.

This is so fast, easy and delicious. My oldest daughter (the one willing to try more than chicken nuggets) loved it. There was more sauce then I expected but that made for yummy lunches. I must also say that the hot sausages were just the right amount of spice do not change this mix.

Great recipe, my husband also liked it! The sausage produced a lot of oil. I would reduce the amount of EVOO used in the beginning if you can't find turkey sausage. This recipe will be going in the regular rotation!

This recipe is terrific, it actually took UNDER 30 minutes to make, and it comes out tasting like an entree in an Italian restaurant. The second time I made it I doubled the heavy cream, used a little bit more garlic, and added about 1/4 cup sweet vermouth with the chicken broth to give it an extra kick.

This was really a fanastic recipe. I used 1.25lb sweet turkey sausage in place of the pork sausage - it was much less greasy this way. Since I couldn't find hot turkey sausage, I just used a little crushed red pepper to spice it up. This was perfect for my husband and I -- and the leftovers are even better.

I'll definitely make this again. The sausage yielded a lot of grease that I needed to drain after browning and made "deglazing" kind of fruitless, but it was darn good. Thanks to the reviewer who suggested halving the recipe for a small family.

I decided to try this recipe as I was strapped for time, there are a lot of recipes here that include certain things that may make cooking the meal a bit longer than 30 minutes. This truley was just a thirty minute meal and was pretty tasty. My 18 month old son cleaned his plate! May want to take it easy on the salt though, there's plenty of that in the sausage. I wouldn't change anything in the recipe, I would definately make this again.

My husband is always skeptical when I try a new dish - he likes the tried and true. This is now his favorite dish, and he requests it often. Had our inlaws to dinner one night, both commented that you couldn't find a better meal in an Italian restaurant and requested the recipe. Super easy and quick - great for a weeknight meal or to impress guests. By the way, my husband is never skeptical anymore when I try one of Rachel's recipes!!!
