I'll never peel another potato again...these were a hit at our Turkey Day table this year and so easy! Easy, smooth and no peeling required - love it! The parm and sour cream really add a nice change from the average Thanksgiving Day mashed taters. Thanks, Ina! ;-)

This turned out great, I did with a potato ricer instead of a blender gave it more texture, I also used fat free half and half, a little bit thinner than usual but still creamer just add it as you go or add more potatos. Overall very good

Nice Side Dish

This was great, but I'd cut the butter and half and half slightly to get the potatoes to the right consistancy.

These are some of the yummiest potatoes ever! I follow the recipe exactly but tend to add quite a bit more parmesan. I especially love the potatoes served with Giada's red wine sauce. The parmesan and red wine flavors mixed together to create a heavenly combination!

I LOVE these potatoes!

I make this dish often for dinner parties, mostly because I LOVE these potatoes myself! Of course, my guests enjoy them as well. Nothing like a good jolt of butter, cheese and sour cream to make a potato even better! Thank you, Ina!

These are by far the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten. I substituted 2% milk for the half and half, and fat free sour cream for the full fat sour cream with great results. They were still delicious and rich. I'm looking forward to making these at the next family gathering.

User: Sandra from Plymouth, CT    User Rating:
These potatoes were delicioius, but a bit too liquidy. If I used the entire 1 1/2 cups of half and half, I would have had soup. I used only half of the butter/cream mixture, and the texture was perfect, and the flavor was outstanding.

User: valerie from longwood, FL    User Rating:
I used fat free half and half for about 3/4 cup, and 1% milk for the rest. I Cut back 1/2 the butter and still had a lot left over. Like others have said, only add liquid a bit at a time. Big hit at the table. Nice change from regular mashed. So far, every recipe I have made(about 5) from Ina has turned out perfect.

These are super easy to make since you don't have to peel the potatoes. Like other reviewers, I would reduce the amount of liquid ingredients (half and half, sour cream) because as is the recipe is a tad liquidy.

A warning label should be required for this recipe
01/08/2007 at 02:42am
User: Mark from San Bruno, CA    User Rating:
I am sure that these are wonderful potatoes, but the nutritional content of this recipe is frightening. If you divide this into only 6 servings, one serving would have 494 calories, 28 grams of fat (44%) and 18 grams of saturated fat (88%). The numbers in parenthesis are the percentage of daily value. Compare these potatoes to a Big Mac (we all know how bad those are for you) with 560 calories, 30 grams of fat and 10 grams of saturated fat. I have never seen a more decedent mashed potato recipe. These may be fine for a (very) special event, but you better not have these potatoes regularly.
