Tastes like salad dressing

I made this for a party over the holidays along with several other Barefoot Contessa platters. People swarmed everything EXCEPT for this recipe. It wasn't awful, it just tastes like Russian salad dressing, just like she says in her cookbook. It sat there all evening. If you're a big fan of Russian dressing, go for it.

MAYBE I DID SOMETHING WRONG.

I USUALLY LOVE INA'S DISHES AND WATCH OR RECORD HER LITERALLY EVERYTIME SHE IS ON. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED HERE BUT THIS JUST DID NOT HIT THE SPOT WITH ME. I LOVE SUN-DRIED TOMATOES TOO - IT SEEMED A LITTLE TOO SWEET. I ALWAYS USE HELLMANS MAYO BUT THIS TIME I ONLY HAD DUKES ON HAND - MAYBE THAT MADE IT TOO SWEET. ALTHOUGH I AM A TRUE SOUTHERN GIRL, I WILL RE-TRY WITH HELLMANS (HONESTLY THE BEST MAYO).

Just not good

I did use lowfat items but even if I used full fat, I still don't think I would have cared for it. It was nothing special, I guess that's what I'm saying. Sorry Ina - alot of your recipes are wonderful. Hey, they can't all be 5 stars, right?

AMAZING

I LOVE this dip. I tried it on a lark to serve with veggies instead of ranch dressing. It is sooo good and I don't even like sun dried tomatoes. You don't really taste them that much, they just add to the overall flavor. It's also incredibly easy to make. Keep this one on your short list.

This is a good one!

My sister has a similar recipe, but Ina's is better, except I made some changes -- a third less the mayo, another onion, and 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans. I serve it with blanched white asparagus, and it is always a hit.

Ina is the best and I can always depend on her for a great recipe but this one was a flop. Very bland. Like one of reviewers ...I think that I won't be taking this to the thankgiving dinner and making something else.

something different

This gives just the right 'hint' of the sundried tomato flavor...not too overpowering as I was afraid of. Simple to make, appealing color and taste.

Amazing Dip!!

My husband ate an entire dip bowl full by himself it was that good! I didn't have the hot pepper oil in the house, so I just used pepper flakes instead (barely gave it a nice bite) and didn't use the onions...still GREAT! A must for your next party for your vegetable tray dip!

Not only was this dip easy to make, it tasted wonderful. I served it with a variety of cubed breads. I have also found another great use for it. It is a fabulous sandwich spread, especially if you're grilling your sandwich. YUMMY!!!

I made this for Father's Day and everyone loved it!!! It's super easy and tastes great. Make sure to let the cream cheese soften at room temp, to make it easier to blend in the blender.

Excellent!!!!

The first time i made this i used sundried tomatoes which were cured in a salt/oil combination and the added salt made it too salty. After that i've omitted the salt and it has been a hit ever since!! So good with crackers or veggies.

This dip was easy to prepare. Everyone loved it! I opted to use fat free for the sour cream and cream cheese. I also used reduced fat Helman's mayo. It tasted great and you couldn't even tell! I had 5 people ask for the recipe. You can also spread it on bagels or serve with pita chips!

Not too impressed

I too usually love the Barefoot Contessa recipes! I was a little disappointed with this dip. I made it today - a test run for bunco - didn't care for it too much. I think I will stick with the hummus I usually make. It tasted a little too mayonnaisey to my husband and I. I also had cut the salt back to 1/2 tsp and was glad - it was plenty salty for us. Sorry to say I would not make this again.

I made this for a small get together and there was hardly a tablespoon left. Everyone loved it. It's quick and easy to make and went well with both vegetables and breadsticks and pita chips. I will definitely make this again.

Within the first week of having this recipe I made it four times. And every time I made it, my family and friends just devoured it. This has to be one of the best dips I have ever tasted. And may I add, it is splendid with Club crackers.

This was a lovely dip, that I served with crackers. It was my contribution to a dinner at my in-laws. Itt was well received by all. I did make a couple changes to the recipe based on other comments by the cooks in the reviews. First, I did lessen the mayo to only 1/4 cup. I also uppped the amount of sundried tomatoes to 1/2 cup for a bit of a stronger taste, which my family prefers. All in all this was easy to make and yummy. I definitely will make this again sometime. Thank you Ms. Contessa for a fabulous recipe.

I took the dip to a friend's house and when the party was over , everyone was still trying to eat it as I walked out the door. There was none left and everybody wanted the receipe. Only thing I did different was I cut the sun-dried tomatoes into strips and did add a few more, probably twelve. It is great!

This was so easy and quick to make. However, after making it I decided to add a little lemon juice because it was a little too salty. Took it to a party last night and after being refrigerated for awhile the taste had really improved. Had it with vegetables and was a big hit.
