Tastes like salad dressing 12/28/2006 at 09:33pm User: Janet from Beckley, WV User Rating: I made this for a party over the holidays along with several other Barefoot Contessa platters. People swarmed everything EXCEPT for this recipe. It wasn't awful, it just tastes like Russian salad dressing, just like she says in her cookbook. It sat there all evening. If you're a big fan of Russian dressing, go for it. MAYBE I DID SOMETHING WRONG. 12/21/2005 at 09:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I USUALLY LOVE INA'S DISHES AND WATCH OR RECORD HER LITERALLY EVERYTIME SHE IS ON. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED HERE BUT THIS JUST DID NOT HIT THE SPOT WITH ME. I LOVE SUN-DRIED TOMATOES TOO - IT SEEMED A LITTLE TOO SWEET. I ALWAYS USE HELLMANS MAYO BUT THIS TIME I ONLY HAD DUKES ON HAND - MAYBE THAT MADE IT TOO SWEET. ALTHOUGH I AM A TRUE SOUTHERN GIRL, I WILL RE-TRY WITH HELLMANS (HONESTLY THE BEST MAYO). Just not good 12/20/2006 at 01:54pm User: MARY from Boston, MA User Rating: I did use lowfat items but even if I used full fat, I still don't think I would have cared for it. It was nothing special, I guess that's what I'm saying. Sorry Ina - alot of your recipes are wonderful. Hey, they can't all be 5 stars, right? AMAZING 12/18/2005 at 08:00pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I LOVE this dip. I tried it on a lark to serve with veggies instead of ranch dressing. It is sooo good and I don't even like sun dried tomatoes. You don't really taste them that much, they just add to the overall flavor. It's also incredibly easy to make. Keep this one on your short list. This is a good one! 12/01/2006 at 11:27am User: SYLVIA from Chattanooga, TN User Rating: My sister has a similar recipe, but Ina's is better, except I made some changes -- a third less the mayo, another onion, and 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans. I serve it with blanched white asparagus, and it is always a hit. NO GO 11/21/2007 at 09:46pm User: amy from oregon city, OR User Rating: Ina is the best and I can always depend on her for a great recipe but this one was a flop. Very bland. Like one of reviewers ...I think that I won't be taking this to the thankgiving dinner and making something else. something different 11/10/2004 at 04:03pm User: JOANNE from Shirley, NY User Rating: This gives just the right 'hint' of the sundried tomato flavor...not too overpowering as I was afraid of. Simple to make, appealing color and taste. Amazing Dip!! 11/04/2004 at 06:51pm User: JENNIFER from Nashville, TN User Rating: My husband ate an entire dip bowl full by himself it was that good! I didn't have the hot pepper oil in the house, so I just used pepper flakes instead (barely gave it a nice bite) and didn't use the onions...still GREAT! A must for your next party for your vegetable tray dip! The Best 10/02/2006 at 09:57am User: Lori from Loudonville, NY User Rating: there was nothing left by the end of the party Fabulous 08/28/2007 at 04:30pm User: Dionna from Bloomington, IL User Rating: Not only was this dip easy to make, it tasted wonderful. I served it with a variety of cubed breads. I have also found another great use for it. It is a fabulous sandwich spread, especially if you're grilling your sandwich. YUMMY!!! Real Winner 08/23/2005 at 01:37pm User: PATRICIA from Richmond, MI User Rating: I made this for a family birthday party. It was a BIG HIT with adults and kids. fantastic 08/16/2005 at 04:00pm User: SUE from york, PA User Rating: this is wonderful!!!! Great! 08/10/2007 at 08:24pm User: Amanda from Chino Hills, CA User Rating: I made this for Father's Day and everyone loved it!!! It's super easy and tastes great. Make sure to let the cream cheese soften at room temp, to make it easier to blend in the blender. Excellent!!!! 08/07/2005 at 08:09pm User: nancy from Dinuba, CA User Rating: The first time i made this i used sundried tomatoes which were cured in a salt/oil combination and the added salt made it too salty. After that i've omitted the salt and it has been a hit ever since!! So good with crackers or veggies. A Party Favorite 07/31/2006 at 11:48am User: Anonymous User Rating: This dip was easy to prepare. Everyone loved it! I opted to use fat free for the sour cream and cream cheese. I also used reduced fat Helman's mayo. It tasted great and you couldn't even tell! I had 5 people ask for the recipe. You can also spread it on bagels or serve with pita chips! Not too impressed 07/21/2006 at 07:12pm User: SHARON from Chandler, AZ User Rating: I too usually love the Barefoot Contessa recipes! I was a little disappointed with this dip. I made it today - a test run for bunco - didn't care for it too much. I think I will stick with the hummus I usually make. It tasted a little too mayonnaisey to my husband and I. I also had cut the salt back to 1/2 tsp and was glad - it was plenty salty for us. Sorry to say I would not make this again. excellent dip 07/13/2007 at 03:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I first had this at my niece's baby shower. Wow.... I was impressed...the consistancy and taste are terrific. Great and easy 07/05/2007 at 02:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made this for a small get together and there was hardly a tablespoon left. Everyone loved it. It's quick and easy to make and went well with both vegetables and breadsticks and pita chips. I will definitely make this again. A huge hit 06/28/2007 at 11:59am User: Alisia from Topeka, KS User Rating: Within the first week of having this recipe I made it four times. And every time I made it, my family and friends just devoured it. This has to be one of the best dips I have ever tasted. And may I add, it is splendid with Club crackers. Tasty and so easy 06/09/2007 at 12:32pm User: Karen from NY, NY User Rating: Made this with reduced fat sour cream and reduced fat cream cheese, and it tatsed absolutely fantastic. So easy to make too. Expat in the Netherlands 06/07/2008 at 08:17am User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a lovely dip, that I served with crackers. It was my contribution to a dinner at my in-laws. Itt was well received by all. I did make a couple changes to the recipe based on other comments by the cooks in the reviews. First, I did lessen the mayo to only 1/4 cup. I also uppped the amount of sundried tomatoes to 1/2 cup for a bit of a stronger taste, which my family prefers. All in all this was easy to make and yummy. I definitely will make this again sometime. Thank you Ms. Contessa for a fabulous recipe. great 06/01/2007 at 06:42pm User: Patricia from Sun Prairie, WI User Rating: this wa good I was out of sour cream so I used a little balsamic viniger to give some sourness used as spread on salmon burgers thanx Sun Dried Tomato Dip 05/29/2007 at 11:32am User: Jeanne from Columbus, OH User Rating: great flavor, easy to prepare, and a recipe by Ina, how could it miss? Greatest sun-dried tomato dip 05/28/2007 at 12:29pm User: FAY from LOVELAND, OH User Rating: I took the dip to a friend's house and when the party was over , everyone was still trying to eat it as I walked out the door. There was none left and everybody wanted the receipe. Only thing I did different was I cut the sun-dried tomatoes into strips and did add a few more, probably twelve. It is great! FABULOUS! 05/15/2007 at 01:25pm User: Jessica from Augusta, GA User Rating: I was on vacation and a friend whipped this up in no time and I have since made it and it gets better each time!! This is so easy and it is a great, cool dip for the summer! Delicious 05/02/2008 at 08:21pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Everyone raved about this dip at my last party. It's really easy to pull together. yummy 02/12/2007 at 07:02pm User: Lora from Missouri City, TX User Rating: Yummy and easy to make. Tastes great with veggies... I'll definitely make it again This was ok 01/12/2007 at 06:31pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I love Ina and her recipes but this one didn't go at the party I took it to. Tasty spread 01/03/2006 at 11:10am User: Anonymous User Rating: Delicious. I adjusted the amount of hot sauce to acommodate the guests with a non-spicy preference. GREAT COLD 01/01/2008 at 02:02pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was so easy and quick to make. However, after making it I decided to add a little lemon juice because it was a little too salty. Took it to a party last night and after being refrigerated for awhile the taste had really improved. Had it with vegetables and was a big hit. |
