I LOVE pad thai and was so excited to find Sara's recipe online, because most of what she makes is great. Unfortunately, this was a dismal dish. Everything was prepared exactly as directed from the recipe, but it was totally lacking in flavor. I'll have to try a different one next time around....

Needs a few more layers of flavor

I first should say that I forgot the rice noodles and used angel hair pasta instead, which Ive done before and it came out well. I thought the recipe was pretty good, but I've had better. I didnt like the addition of ketchup and i think i would try using a little sesame or peanut oil and maybe some ginger for added flavor. Or just continue looking for a better recipe. I had lost my original recipe for Pad Thai, which was great. So i guess i'll keep searching.

A friend told me that some people put ketchup in Pad Thai, and I didn't believe it. I Googled, found this, and am utterly shocked. Traditional, PROPER Pad Thai is just as easy to make, doesn't require a trip to an ethnic market of any kind, and certainly doesn't call for ketchup which seems to be the replacement for mere teaspoon fulls of "Red Curry and Sugar". Do some research, and never make this recipe. It's a violation of phenomenal cuisine.

easy and delicious

I was supprized how well this came out, it was very easy to make. It has a little sour taste to it that I got rid of by adding more cayenne pepper (I added small bits at a time till it was gone) I also added ginger along with the garlic it came out very good.

Yummmmm

I actually liked this recipe a lot. It was relatively a dry noodle dish with subtle but good flavor. It was quick and easy too. I splashed on more fish sauce before eating (I love fish sauce) and it was even more tasty!

Very good recipe that is simple to make with everyday ingredients. I added some thai chilies and fresh ginger for added layers of flavor. As good as if not better than the more complicated recipes.

A winner from Sarah

I think she captured the essence of this most beloved Thai dish. Pad Thai can be tricky to make, so please make sure you have everything prepared when it's time to put it all together.

This recipe is very simple to make with ingredients accessible to anyone. The end result is just as good as the pad thai served at the restaurant, maybe better!
