The dip came out bland and watery. It might have been better with cream cheese instead of milk.

Awesome Party Dip

This dip is easily made low fat by using fat free milk and fat free Feta cheese. There is little difference in taste. So delicious! Awesome with Wheat Thins or other crackers as well as the flat bread.

Delicious but unhealthy

Absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, it's also pretty unhealthy with all that cheese. I'll make this on occasion, but can't justify eating it all the time.

Good, with a little adjustment.

This recipe was very good, but after preparing it as the recipe states, I didn't care much for it. I decided to add some of the roasted garlic into the mixture and that really improved it. I did get a little carried away with the garlic though - luckily all of my guests were garlic lovers... if nothing else we kept the vampires away! I recommend making it a bit in advance because the flavors develop with time, so that should help you not to go overboard on the garlic. Will definitely make again, but with a bit more caution!

Awesome

i make this everytime i have guests, especially for holidays and it's fabulous! best to have a food processor because it doesn't mix as well in a blender, but the flavors are perfect.

good pizza topping

This was pretty good but a bit thick and dry for me. I ended up spreading it thinly on pizza and topping with thin pear slices which was excellent!

Awesome!

I took someone else's suggestion and used two cloves of garlic instead or roasting a whole head of garlic. I don't recommend doing that if you're planning on taking to a party, like I am, because boy, is it garlic-ey! I plan to double the recipe and leave out the garlic on the second batch, and then mix the two batches together. I also used toasted pecans instead of walnuts. Even with the extra garlic, this stuff is great! I garnished with sun-dried tomatoes and chopped pecans, and that really toned down the garlic and made it even tastier.

Grainy texture

User: Susan from Skillman, NJ    User Rating:
I love Rachel and looked forward to making this dip for a Christmas Open House since I like everything that goes into it. But, wow, it didn't work at all. The texture was very grainy -- unpleasant -- and there wasn't much flavor. Maybe if I had made it the day before the flavors would have developed, but it was blah when served the same day. The only comment by a guest was "Interesting."

must love feta!

User: Joanna from Solon, OH    User Rating:
I made this recipe for a party, but sadly, it was not well received. Despite what other reviews have said, I think you really have to love feta to enjoy this recipe. Fortunately for me, I am a big fan of feta cheese, so I liked this dip a lot. But I would think twice before serving to a big crowd.

I brought this dip to a potluck and there was food all around the table. Nobody knew that I was the one to bring the dip. People kept trying it, saying, "oh, wow. What's in that?" and "oh my gosh, this is good!" After 5 compliments, I decided to rate this dip a 5 star.

Longer it sits better it gets

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
This is a great dip to make for an event because it just gets better the longer it sits. Obviously you don't want the dip to sit out too long because of the milk, but it keeps just fine for a party. I like to add a bit more garlic and parmesan cheese to mine.

I made this Saturday for a little party and my friends loved it. The only adjustment I made is that I used half walnuts and half pecans instead of all walnuts. Great consistency, great combo of flavors and took about 5 minutes to prepare. (I chilled it for about 2 hours).

I didn't watch this episode, and the recipe leaves you hanging - what on earth do you do with the roasted garlic? Put it in the dip? Spread it on the flat bread separately?

This dip was just delicious. I can't get over how many layers of flavour there are. The nuttiness of the walnuts, the spicyness of the pepper flakes, the saltiness of the rich rich feta , and especially the earthy woody tones of the oregano complement each other perfectly in this magical delicacy.

This is a wonderful, flavorful dip. It's been a while since I saw the episode, but to answer another reviewer's question, I think the roasted garlic was served as another topping for the flatbread, and was not incorporated into the dip. I made the dip without the roasted garlic, using the one reserved clove the recipe mentions. It provided just the right garlic kick for my taste.

Delicious Dip!
08/13/2004 at 09:32am
User: TARA from commack, NY    User Rating:
I really wanted to give this recipe 5 stars, but there were definitely points that could use improvement. For starters, it is not clear from the actual recipe whether or not the garlic, once roasted, is meant to be incorporated into the dip or just served on the side. Even the pic is unclear on this. I added the roasted garlic in, and 25 minutes is simply not enough time to roast the garlic if you are going to use a whole head. It was way too garlicky. I would suggest roasting the garlic much longer, or using less of it. Prior to adding the garlic, this dip was delicious and I will definitely make it again, with the above modifications.

I tried this first on New Years where my daughters (10 and12) have a special celebration as Daddy is always at work on New Years (owns restaurants), It is soooooooo easy and absolutely delicious. For a daughter who hates cheese she wolfs this down. And for a f-i-l with very gourmet taste, he loved it on Fathers Day. A real winner of a recipe and so easy to make! I don't use pita but instead use a Chicago Flats cracker and like the crunch much better!
