This was excellent. Fortunately I read the other review after I made the recipe! I used apple cider vinegar so maybe that made a difference. Far from being inedible my friends and I are thrilled to have a delish new recipe to use fresh figs when we can't eat another one. I like all kinds of chutney and this is a very good one.

Although I simmered the sauce until it was reduced by 2/3, the finished chutney had a very sharp vinegar taste. It is nearly inedible.
