Sexy Filets with shrooms...

I made this for my baby, who is not even a red meat fan. It is simple yet impressive, she could not keep her hands off me during dinner.

Didn't work out

Perhaps I purchased the wrong kind of demi-glace or the wrong wine - but this recipe just didn't work out for me :(

AWESOME

I made this for my hubby's birthday and it was AWESOME. My husband LOVED it. He felt very special. This was a 5 star restaurant meal at a fraction of the price. I even brought out the fine China to make it special for him. Very easy, fast and it looked and tasted as if you spent hours in the kitchen.

Sauce was too thin

User: joann from tampa, FL    User Rating:
I bought a high quality demi glaze and even cut the wine to only a cup and a half and it still turned out too thin. Adding butter didn't help either. I would suggest not cooking with rosemary after roasting it in the oven as it overpowers a lot of the flavors needed in the glaze. Maybe if I reduced the wine a while longer it would have thickened and been a fantastic meal. I will definately try it again with my own tweaks and changes.

What a treat

This recipe is awesome! I have made it twice and both times it has been fabulous. The recipe doesn't take much time and is easy to follow and make. The only problem I had was finding demi glace.

A great hit!

A Weekly Favorite!

I recently made this recipe, (omitting the mushrooms for my husband), and it was even better than expected! My husband said it's the best steak we've ever had at home. It's definitely better than spending the $24 or so on a filet at a restaurant! I now make this for dinner once a week, and it seems to get better every time. Thank you!

Small effort... Big results....

What a success... Very easy to cook, very simple ingredients with huge flavor and great presentation (I stacked the mushrooms as high as I could on top of steaks...)

The best!

This is such a fabulous main course. I had no idea I could make a steak dinner like this at home! It was better than any I've had at steakhouses, and cost half the price!

Tyler has this nailed! The filet was PERFECT! Medium Rare throughout. The bacon wrap kept every morsel of the filet a perfect bite. Following his recipe helped me not "overthink", it took all the guesswork out of it. I had an extraordinary meal ready in 30 minutes. I loved the sauce - earthy and elegant. I am no longer afraid to buy better cuts of beef. Thank you Tyler!

Wow - This is good

This was soooooo elegant, that I felt like I should be serving the president instead of my hubby and kids. I made it a second time for my parents and they were blown away. A little tip: For the beef Demi Glace, Sonoma-Williams has some great stuff. And while you're at it, try their apple smoked bacon to wrap the filet's with. YUM!!!

Yum!

I grilled the filets outdoors on the grill and made the mushrooms and sauce on the stovetop. Wrked really well.

Super tasty, but..

Loved the earthy flavor the mushrooms brought to the dish, and the wine reduced to just the perfect taste. But, I felt the sauce could have been a little thicker - as it was it was running all over the plate. Perhaps a little rue next time would solve this. Also felt (and this is after following the instructions to the T) the meat was a bit overcooked (mine came out almost well done), so I plan to reduce both the searing and oven times next time to achieve that elusive medium-rare! Overall, a very rich and tasty dish, one I will definitely make again.

Great Flavor!

This was a great dish. I couldn't find any demi-glace so I had to make a slurry to thicken the sauce. It was still very good though.

Had to make this without the demi-glace since I couldn't find it, but it was really good anyway. The meat almost melted in my mouth.

User: daisy from las vegas, NV    User Rating:
First of all I am a trained chef and there is something wrong with this recipe. THe sauce tasted like wine and salt. It was way too runny to even coat the steaks. And the meat looked like it had been poached in wine. What a dissapointment and waste of good steak.

Good for a Special Father's Day treat.

This recipe was easy and delicious! I made this for our Christmas meal and everyone raved about it. I put the pinot noir sauce on the side for those who did not like wine. It was just as good without it. I will definitely make this again and will share the recipe with others! Awesome!

The best!

This recipe is so easy and fool proof. It is the only way I make steak now. Also I add asparagus and roast those too. Sometimes I have demi glace sometimes I don't! I just made it last night with frest morel mushrooms. Sometimes I use Pinot sometimes Cab. Use what ever you are serving for wine. My husband says that no restaurant in town makes better steak! :)

I just made this recipe and wonder where I went wrong. The steaks were delicious but the sauce tasted like pure wine. I followed the recipe to the letter and think maybe half the wine would be suffice...

I tried this recipe and it was great. I made a few alterations - used rib eye instead of filet and left the bacon off. The mushrooms were very flavorful from being cooked in the steak juice. The rosemary was the perfect flavor for it all. We loved it.

I love this recipe. I've made this several times and it comes out nicely every time. I make a Tuna steak as well and use the left over pan flavors to sear it. Make sure you use the bacon-wrapping suggested in this recipe - the dish has added crunch and taste that puts into a five-star category using the bacon. Hope you enjoy it!

almost perfect

This was good but I definately don't ever reccommend pan frying. This recipe would be top notch if the steak is grilled first.Really good flavor.

This was fairly easy to make, and the results were outstanding. My husband, who is not a big steak fan, really liked it. My only problem with the recipe was finding demi-glace. I went to every type of supermarket in a 15 mile radius and I could not find the demi glace. I ended up going to William Sonoma and spent a small fortune for it.

Very good, not great

I used 1/2 cup of wine, given some of the comments, and spent about ten minutes reducing the sauce. Can't imagine two cups and no reduction time. Best Food network filet recipe so far, but I'll probably keep looking. Far superior to Ina's Filet Au Poivre.

I made this for my husband on our anniversary. He loved it! Because we're on a budget, I opted to go without the demiglace to cut down on the price, and the recipe still tasted wonderful. Omaha is known for its steak houses, but why go out when I can make this at home?

New Year's Eve Knockout

The other reviews led me to make a few adjustments and the filets turned out great. Added only enough wine to give the sauce a little flavor; less than a quarter cup. Couldn't find demi-glace at the local Safeway, so I used an equal amount of a product called "Better than Bullion." My wife loved it. Docked a star because of the adjustments.
