This recipe comes out perfect every time from the first time I tried it. These are just like the molten chocolate cake desserts that you have at the high-end restaurants - but better!

If you love chocolate cake--this is a MUST

If you want to feel like a baking rock star, try out this recipe. It is quick and easy, and best of all--the cake is delicious. It tastes just as good, if not better, than the molten chocolate cakes that are served at restaurants. You will need to adjust baking times according to your oven and ramekin shape (like many people have mentioned. Enjoy!

This was such a special dessert, I can't believe I made it! I was so impressed that these cute little cakes actually came out of MY oven! I popped them in as I was tidying up after dinner and they were done in no time! i did actually cook them a minute or two longer as I thought they needed it. I also took anothers suggestion to cook one earlier in the day to make sure I knew how to do it properly. great advice, thank you!

These cakes reminded me of a dessert served on the Carnival cruise ship. My husband loved it on the thip and now he loves the home made ones. I also use muffin pans since that is all I have available, and they come out wonderful. The middle is nice and runny and goes very well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A circle of parchment paper in the bottom of the muffin cup helps. Thanks for a great recipe!

What can I say...this was a fantastic dessert! Not only was it easy to make, the result was phenomenal!!! Really, if my guests could have licked the plate, they would have. All chocolate lovers should try this. I served mine with berries and a scoop of homemade espresso ice cream (opted out of the Frangelico).

I have tried several times to make molten cakes, but the time and temperature have always been wrong, and I have never been able to turn them out. But using this recipe, I made 8 cakes (not six) and baked about 11 minutes in my oven. It was easy to see the edges looking cakey and just the center still looked wet. They flipped out easily, had runny centers and were just delicious. I think the slightly smaller size of the cakes helped them not to collapse, plus, they are so rich, it seemed the perfect amount. Thanks Giada!!

DELISH! add some vanilla ice cream for extra wow. don't bake a minute over 10, or you'll lose the flowing lava inside. if you don't have ramekins you can use a muffin pan just as easily.

This recipe was great. I can't wait to make it again. I didn't have the espresso powder, so I substituted cinnamon. Everyone loved it. I also had trouble getting the cakes out of the ramekins. I only tried once - the warm chocolate filling oozed onto the plate and then I got the cake part out with a spoon. I ate that one and served the rest in the ramekins. Didn't affect the taste at all.

ELEGANT (BUT ADJUST BAKING TIME)

User: ANGELENE from windber, PA    User Rating:
Made these last night and they were delicious but I also had to double the baking time ...and my oven is a new KitchenAid, not a tired old stove. Giada, I think you have to adjust the baking time on these. Makes an elegant presentation with raspberries and some whipped cream. Everyone loved them. I had to sacrifice two cakes before I got the timing right....don't try this on guests without experimenting first.

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I've made a version of these before and had a terrible time getting them out of the ramekins. So I used a teflon muffin pan instead. Buttered and floured them as suggested and also cut a circle of parchment paper to fit the bottom. They came out with no problem. It made 12 "smaller" cakes with some to spare. The were the perfect size since they are so rich. Cooked them about 8 minutes. Served with vanilla ice cream and a warm fruit compote.

Excellent recipe. baking may take more time than noted especially if ramekins are of a different shape/size. try a test case for your particular set up, but for us it worked to bake until they just turn dry and flat (not wet and shiny) on the entire top surface.

I made this for my family (all great cooks) and it was a huge hit! My grandmother, who generally doesn't eat much dessert ate the whole thing. My father said it was better than the desserts you find in a restaurant. I will definitely make this again! A few tips- if you are serving this for company do a trial run beforehand as cooking times do vary depending on your oven. I also dusted the ramekins with cocoa powder instead of flour and sifted powedered sugar on top before serving to enhance the presentation. It was perfect- thanks Giada!

User: laura from euless, TX    User Rating:
Thankfully my mom had some ramekins that I could use, and maybe it was the type of ramekins that I had, or maybe it was the oven time for the cake because the bottom got stuck to the ramekin. After 7 min it still needed more time, and I let it sit in there for another 3 minutes, and maybe if I would've let it sit for 2 minutes, then it would've came out just like Giada's..but nevertheless, they came out good, and it was my first time doing cake from scratch, and I was impressed. Good recipe!

this cake is really unbelievable. Sinful, chocolatey, gooey... the best I've ever had. Just for the ladies, though. Guys said it was too "chocolatey" for them. Also, make sure you use really non-stick ramekins, otherwise cake will just break when you invert it on the plate, and it's a shame if it does, since it looks and tastes so good. Thanks Giada!

I wanted to try this recipe for a few weeks but had to wait b/c I didnt have ramekins. I was only able to find 4 oz ramekins, so I used 8 of them. Let me tell you, this dessert was To-Die-For! I have wanted to make an individual molten chocolate cake for awhile, but hadn't found a recipe I wanted to try. I substituted splenda for the sugar and you never knew the difference. I made them in the afternoon and covered and put in the fridge until I cooked them 5 hours later. B/c they were cold, and b/c of the size difference of the ramekins, I cooked for 13 minutes. They came out of the cups with total ease and without any problem. I served them w/ berries and whipped creme and they were a huge hit. This without a doubt, is my new favorite dessert recipe to entertain with. I can't wait to make this again. Please run to the store to get the ingredients to try this killer dessert recipe!

I like this easy receipe. The ingredients are simple. I made them cup-cake sizes and I only baked them for 7 or so minutes. They turned out really well. I topped the cake with berries and some vanilla ice-cream. It was an instant hit. I think I will try to bake it for less time to get the center more gooey. PS: It's important to whip the eggs until it has a whipped cream consistency before slowing adding in the melted chocolate.

Pros; Easy to make and good for making ahead. Cons: Didn't find it as rich or as chocolate as I would have liked. Like a couple of other reviewers, baking time in the oven needs to be adjusted and after 2 tries still not sure if I got it right. Suggest that you leave it longer than 10 seconds on the plate before trying to get the cake to come out.

I made the recipe with some lower-carb substitutions: Splenda instead of sugar 3T total flour instead of 4t Added 3 more egg whites for volume Sugar-free bittersweet chocolate instead of regular chocolate The cakes came out FABULOUS! Rich chocolate cake with molten gooey centers, every guilt-free bite (~6g net carbs per cake, without the berries) was amazing! The only problem with the cake was that it was so rich, I couldn't finish a whole one. I'm going to make smaller cupcake-sized versions (~4g net carbs per cake) for my family this Christmas. Since I have two diabetics and several other low-carbers in the family, they'll go nuts over this cake with some low-carb homemade French vanilla ice cream.

After watching the Itialn beauty whip up this delight, I decided to try it myself. Although I didn't hear how long to bake it, just now found the recipe. It was fluffy and chocolety heavan. My family couldn't belive I made it, of course, I had to buy ramicans to make them in, so they thought I bought them pre-made. Ha! These are a great deset even with out the berries. I covered mine with a quick marainge made from the unused egg whites and some cream of tarter. waste not, the want not's. That what my mother always say's. Prepare for chocolet fix. This one is a winner.

Well, I actually managed to get the last 2 right in terms of timing, but my first 2 colapsed and gushed upon taking them out the ramekins. Not that it was bad, but in terms of presentation it didn't look so good. The cakes were delicious though and the last 2 that I made, I let sit for a few minutes which seemed to help them set. Definitely delicious, but like others mentioned, it is a good idea to adjust the time with trial and error for your oven.

Simple and delicious every time, but I always have to double the cooking time. Cakes are difficult to test without ruining, so you may have to sacrifice a few until you figure out the right amount of time for your particular oven and ramekins.
