Not the best, but not bad

Not as tough as I expected from a batter whisked smooth, but not light and fluffy, either. The flavor was very mild, the ground pecans gave the whole batter a slightly nutty flavor. I added only two eggs, per other comments, and there was not a strong egg taste in doing so. Expect bananas to be mushy...that's just what happens when they are cooked that way.

Yummy!

I make these all the time. Try mashing 1 large or 2 small bananas into the mix. It's quicker, gives more flavor and does not leave banana stuck on the griddle.

I made these for breakfast this morning and they were good. The only problem was that they had an egg taste to them. The texture was great and they looked wonderful. I just don't like eggs very much. I will definately make them again. The next time I make them I will only use two eggs.

This is hands down the best pancake recipe I have ever tried. Everyone loves it. I sometimes just mash two bananas into the batter when I'm too lazy to cut them. The plain batter is good as well without the bananas and pecans. I have also used the batter for Apple Walnut Pancakes and Blueberry. A hit every time, but by far the banana are the best.

So Light & Tasty !!

User: Mary from Irvine, CA    User Rating:
I chose to not make the butter b/c of other reviewers comments & just used syrup on the top b/c I don't like things too sweet. I also used 1/2 whole wheat flour & 1/2 white flour which gave it a heartier flavor & texture (plus more fiber). I chose to use only 2 bananas b/c I didnt want the batter to make a "mushy" pancake. I sprinkled toasted slivered almonds since that's what I had on hand. For those who only have baking soda & no power... I used about 2- 2 1/2 tsp of soda & they were still light and fluffy. My Fiancee & I call this "Monkey's Favorite Breakfast!!" & give it 5 Stars.

Forever using this recipe!

I looooved this recipe. What's more, my little four year old loved it the most... and he's a harsh judge when it come to his favorite breakfast meal, pancakes! The only thing I changed was to lessen the amount of sugar (I used 2 teaspoons). I made two batches, with and without pecans, and they were delicious! Moist, fluffy, flavorful...perfect!

These pancakes were the best pancakes that I have ever had. I made some with the banana and some without. I will no longer buy boxed pancake mixes. The maple butter made too much, but it is great on toasted english muffins through the week.

I made them because 'Banana Pancakes' by Jack Johnson is one of my favorite songs (and because I love pancakes!). They turned out spectacular and I ended up making many more for Mother's day with my little sisters.

Tyler is awesome. I love his show, everything he makes looks amazing and I have made some of his recipes before. But I didn't care for this one. I love pancakes. I make them all the time and I am always trying new recipes, and these just didn't do it for me. I thought the pancakes had an overpowering egg flavor, like an omelet almost. I cooked them perfectly, they looked beautifully golden brown when I plated them, but I was very disappointed in the flavor. All I tasted was egg (I have never came across this problem before). I thought about substituting an egg or two with applesauce, but I usually don't make substitutions the first time I try a recipe. I wish I would have now, very disappointing. Sorry Tyler, but I still love you!

Wow is that sooooo good. We had these beauties for our Easter Morning breakfast and it didn't disappoint. I did make the maple butter, but it was oozey - even made the day before. Next time I think I'll just do the butter pat and a little syrup over top. The pulverized pecans I think really put it over the top - OUTSTANDING TYLER - it really is the ultimate!

Tastes good but dense
01/22/2006 at 01:51pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
The recipe was easy to prepare but the ratio of wet to dry ingredients is off and especially the extra fat in the three eggs is too much and makes for heavy dense pancakes. Taste is excellent maybe decrease eggs and add buttermilk. Maple butter doesn't add much since you can put butter an maple syrup on them anyway. Yes Tyler is very cute but I'm only rating the recipe.

I LOVE these pancakes! I've tried a lot of good pancake recipes, but I must admit, these truly are the best. Everyone I've fed them to raves about them. I've tried different fruit variation. Banana, fresh blueberries, and ground pecans is my favorite. Even my husband, who doesn't like bananas, thought these were outstanding. This is a must try recipe...you won't regret it.

I love pancakes but I really don't know how to cook them well after I made the batter. I tried making the batter which was very easy to make. Although my results in cooking the pancakes is so so due to my burning the pancakes partially....the taste of the cooked batter was wonderful. I will definitely make this again, I just need to perfect my pancakes flipping and cooking skills. This batter is a keeper!

NO MORE BOXED PANCAKES

Since I've tried this base recipe thats sooo easy to do and tastes fantastic, I've shunned boxed pancakes from my grocery cart. It's melt-in-your-mouth kind that's low on saturated oil or butter is wonderful for my kids. I usually add fresh ripe mangoes, choco chips, mashed ripe bananas or corn kernels to Tyler's wonderful pancake base. You can dust it with cocoa powder, sugar or just butter and syrup. Thanks Tyler for this treasure find.

This is the best pancake recipe I have tried and trust me I have tried ALOT!! They are moist, light, fluffy and full of flavor. I have used the recipe in other ways also. My family likes all different pancakes, so I make the base and then add the add-ins depending on what my family wants. Just banana, banana toasted pecan, pecans, blueberry, peach , strawberry...you name it. Thanks Tyler, great pancakes. Sincerely, Toni In Ohio
