GREAT! 07/17/2008 at 07:23pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I just made this for company and I have to keep reminding myself not to munch on it! I used dried apples instead of dried bananas- you could play with the fruit/nut combination. Thanks to the other reviewers who warned that 55-60 minutes is too long to cook. I checked mine at 40 minutes and it was a touch too brown. I'd start watching it closely after 30 minutes or so. Addictive! 05/15/2008 at 04:56pm User: Katie from Birmingham, AL User Rating: This trail mix is very addictive! It makes a large portion and will keep for several days. I liked all of the different ingrediants. I left out a couple of things (wheat germ, 2 of the dried fruits) and you are still left with a tasty mix. Tasty by itself or mixed with yogurt. A Keeper! Simply the best! 10/01/2007 at 09:49pm User: Carolyn from Falmouth, MA User Rating: Being rated 5 stars, i decided to try this recipe. I used parchment paper instead of foil and i had absolutely no problem of the mix sticking. i used the top rack of my oven and stirred every 10 minutes just to make sure it wouldn't burn. I also used only 3/4 can of the condensed milk because i didn't want it too sweet. It came out perfect. I couldn't stop eating it and my daughter's got tired of hearing me rave about how good my trail mix came out. Using this trail mix over plain yogurt or as a breakfast cereal would be great. Just to have in a ziploc bag when you're on the run is a good thing too. GREAT ! 06/25/2007 at 08:12pm User: SUSAN from Aberdeen, NC User Rating: This was easy to make and taste great. Way better than any premade trail mix. Yummmy! 06/24/2007 at 07:34pm User: Lynette from Nampa, ID User Rating: All I can say is yummmyyy! Fathers Day 06/23/2007 at 07:17pm User: MICHELLE from Barnegat, NJ User Rating: Made this for my father for Fathers Day to put in his gift basket. The best granola. Definately a keeper. Thanks Paula!!! and I don't really like trail mix... 06/07/2007 at 08:03pm User: Kathryn from pleasanton, CA User Rating: I made this for my husband and daughter but I ended up eating much of it. Even uncooked, it's delicious - ranks up there with cookie dough. I used Bear Naked granola and thought it was excellent! Addictive! 06/06/2007 at 12:40pm User: April from Hixson, TN User Rating: This is the best trail mix recipe! It is so easy and it stores really well. We even put it in a bowl and poured milk over it and ate it as cereal. Yummy! Great Trail Mix 06/05/2007 at 10:38am User: Beverly from Simi Valley, CA User Rating: Really good trail mix. Be sure to use non-stick foil and even spray that with Pam as its really sticky. Bake only 40 to 45 minutes even tho it seems soft. It will crisp as it cools. I added m&ms for a special treat. Yum! lipsmackintrailmix 05/31/2007 at 01:40am User: Patricia from katytexas, TX User Rating: VERY, VERY GOOD Very, very good 01/17/2007 at 09:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is an excellent recipe. We modified a bit, used 1/2 C. each of walnuts, pecans and sliced almonds. Great with yogurt! so good! 08/11/2006 at 02:32pm User: sarah from Muncie, IN User Rating: I took this trail mix camping with my family. Everyone loved it. I will definatly make this again! Very Good Recipe 06/20/2006 at 07:01pm User: Michele from Radcliff, KY User Rating: This is a very good recipe that you should try. It's a bit on the sweet side because of the condensed milk. I, too, used non-fat condensed milk and canola oil and the recipe came out fine. The non-stick tin foil is a must! Also, cook for 45 min. vs. the recommended 60 min. Wonderfully easy and delicious! 05/26/2006 at 03:24pm User: Lynda from Albuquerque, NM User Rating: So easy and delicious as trail mix, sundae topping or even breakfast cereal. Very flexible, add your favorite dried fruits and even chocolate chips. Keeps well (that is if it lasts the day.) Finger Lickin Good 05/25/2006 at 10:41am User: Shaunta from Atlanta, GA User Rating: Okay, I am completely addicted to this trial mix. My co-worker and I have adapted our versions and we make it every week. In order to have a healthier version of the trail mix,I use the fat-free condensed milk vs. regular sweetened condensed milk and canola oil vs. vegetable oil.. Also, I like to add sesame sticks, dried pineapple, and dried mango as I add the fruit in at the end of the process(for extra flavor and texture). This recipe is so easy and it is a hit. If you are contemplating whether or not to try this recipe... do yourself a favor and try it! You will absolutely love it. terrific snack 05/22/2006 at 07:40pm User: frances from odessa, TX User Rating: My kids and the rest of the family just love it. I always make 2 batches and it's alway's gone in about 3 day's. And before it is all gone they want to know when am i going to make some more. This rocks! 05/20/2006 at 05:06pm User: JOY from CLINTON, UT User Rating: I have made this many times now and my family, even the kids, LOVE it!!! It keeps well and is great for the family auction at the family reunion! Now what I expected 05/12/2006 at 04:19pm User: Tonya from Brandon, FL User Rating: I was disappointed with this recipe. I followed the directions, but it came out tasting over cooked. I felt like my teeth were going to break when I tried to eat it. I usually like Paula's recipes, but I don't think I'll give this one another try. Left my lips smackin... 04/24/2006 at 12:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe is amazing! I made the trail mix for a family reunion camping trip and it was gone within fifteen minutes! The kids preferred it over oreos and potato chips!!! Worth the Effort 04/17/2006 at 04:20pm User: MaryAnn from Dove Canyon, CA User Rating: Made this for the first time this weekend. Absolutely loved it - as did my husband and teenage son. Will be making all summer long for our camping and hiking excursions. Thank you Paula! Great Anytime 03/06/2006 at 11:07am User: Deni Lynn from Arcadia, CA User Rating: I used the vanilla granola you can buy at Trader Joes, and substitute my family's favorite dried fruit for the dried fruit list on the recipe, just as Paula suggests. We took it camping in Independence, CA and it was a hit. Of course, most of Paula's recipes are a success with most everyone I know! She's the BEST! very good 01/01/2006 at 05:09pm User: NILOFER from New York, NY User Rating: I baked it too long (55 min), it was TOO crunchy. Also, I love banana's, so thought banana chips would be perfect...but they didn't add anything, instead everyone just picked them out. So no banana chips next time, and less of a bake time to make bigger clusters. Great snack though!! number 1 type of trail mix 12/28/2005 at 08:08pm User: leigha from gainesville, GA User Rating: THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Great! 10/29/2005 at 05:28pm User: Kelly from Brandon, FL User Rating: This was easier than I expected. Tastes good! I might not cook it the entire 60 minutes as stated next time and I will also use the nonstick foil. I made this for Halloween treats for the people at work. excellent trail mix 10/26/2005 at 03:36pm User: Connie from Butler, KY User Rating: I made this trail mix and it was so easy and so good. It is Lip Smackin' Trail Mix 10/21/2005 at 02:55pm User: Stacie from Ocala, FL User Rating: This is a great "side" item. Everyone loves it 06/08/2005 at 01:11pm User: JUNE from Highland, CA User Rating: Everyone I have given the trail mix to wants the recipe. It's easy and GOOD. I used the non-stick foil and it was easier to stir the mix. Try it with almonds and macadamia nuts, yummm. kid lovin trail mix 05/23/2005 at 06:08pm User: Anonymous User Rating: i made this trail mix for a recent camping trip. my kids & husband could not get enough of it. the best thing about it is that it is healthy for them too. Good 05/13/2005 at 08:29pm User: DEBBIE from Avon, IL User Rating: The trail mix is great but I have trouble with the recipe. I set my ove for 300 degrees but my granola and other ingredients get to brown way before the cooking time is up. Best granola! 05/12/2005 at 02:39pm User: SHERI from Cincinnati, OH User Rating: My husband and I love this recipe. I did change a couple of things in order to make it a little healthier. I used low fat condensed milk, canola oil, and add a tbls milled flax seed. It was delicious. I have made it as recipe stated once and to be honest couldn't tell the dffference so now always make the lower fat version. I also add almonds. I usually make a big batch and put it in separate bowls so my husband and I can add whatever fruit, chocolate chips, etc the each of us wants. Should also not that I only cook for 45 minutes now. Thanks for another great recipe! Fabulous! 05/09/2005 at 05:43pm User: MARY from Opelika, AL User Rating: This was delicious! I used honey sesame stix and dried pineapple instead of the dried cherries and apricots. I also added extra pecans, and no walnuts. I love this trail mix. I ordered the granola from the hudson valley dessert company. Yummy, yummy! yummy! 05/02/2005 at 01:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My husband was very critical of me wanting to make granola. After he tried it though he kept going back for more! We couldn't believe how good it was! Yeah, Paula! It also lasted for forever. Fantabulous! 02/28/2005 at 03:59pm User: CASEY from Raleigh, NC User Rating: this was amazing..it made so much but I promise that it will be gone in no time! everyone loved it! TRAIL MIX THAT EVERYBODY LOVED 02/15/2005 at 03:16pm User: JUDY from Anaheim, CA User Rating: THIS WAS SIMPLY WONDERFUL...EASY TO MAKE AND VERY APPEALING TO EVERYBODY. Easy and Addictive! 01/25/2005 at 12:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We stored it in an airtight container and used it for weeks. It's great to travel with in the car and on camping trips. It's also a winning combo with yogurt. Awesome! 01/22/2005 at 04:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I eat this in the mornings with yogurt and it is a GREAT way to start any busy day. I will definitley be making this often and sharing it. This is Wonderful! 01/09/2005 at 07:15pm User: MARTI from Henderson, NV User Rating: We started hiking recently (for exercise) and love having trail mix for a snack. Made this one using Hadley's (from SO CA) granola and it is so great! Tastes soooo good! Only problem: we may have baked it too long, although we didn't exceed 55-60 min. Stored it in an air-tight canister and it's now kind of dry and crummy instead of moist and lumpy. Won't bake it quite so long or crumble it quite so small next time. Flavor hasn't been negatively affected, though. Delicious! Mouth watering good... 01/05/2005 at 03:18pm User: DARCIE from San Rafael, CA User Rating: This is so delicious I cannot tell you. I love to make it and eat it for breakfast with some vanilla yogurt. Super yummy! Try it, you also will make it again.....requests already for more... Everyone loves this trail mix. 11/30/2004 at 05:22pm User: A from Colfax, CA User Rating: This is a killer recipe. I bring it to all sorts of functions. The universal response is "You should sell this stuff!" Mix it up by varying the nuts (almonds are great) and the fruit (or omitting what you don't like). Make two batches. There won't be any left from your potluck. Perfect for the game or movie watching 11/06/2004 at 04:18pm User: JILL from Lexington, SC User Rating: This is so good!!! I recently made up a batch for watching the Saturday games, and it was consumed. Only problem, I was the one who did most of the consuming. The dried fruit combinations are endless. Good Fiber 07/03/2004 at 11:00pm User: BRENDA from Woodville, MA User Rating: I had to leave out the seeds and nuts so I put in more granola. I added an extra cup of Granola (I used Kellogg's)and substituted almonds for pecans. It has a wonderful crunch. We have added various ingredients from chocolate chips to dried pineapple. Very versatile recipe. It has everything you would desire, if not add it. versatile mix 05/20/2004 at 03:24pm User: CAROL from Brighton, MI User Rating: this is super. I had to substitute ingredients. Used flaxmeal instead of wheat germ and grapeseed oil instead of vegetable oil. Did not use coconut. Used a mixed variety of raisins and used dried cranberry, but did not use apricots, they are too overpowering unless real dry. Would use more nuts, walnuts and pecans were good. It sure is a keeper though.
