Not what I was hoping for

This isn't much like restaurant lo mein. Very saucy (watery) and the flavor is just okay. My boys LOVE chinese food and they didn't go for this too much. I'm afraid we won't make this again.

very good!

I thought this was very good. I didn't use mushrooms because my husband doesn't like them, next time I will use them though. I used london broil and cut it into thin strips. The meat turned out very tender and juicy. When I watched the episode where he made this dish, the noodles that he used looked like ramen noodles so I used 3 squares of ramen noodles and just discarded the seasoning packs. The noodles were perfect for this dish and just the right amount. I will definetly make this dish again.

MAKE IT SIMPLE, VERY GOOD

I made this last night with Chicken and Shrimp, it was very good, I did have to spice it up a bit for extra flavor. I made it simple by adding fresh cut sliced portabella baby mushrooms and i bought the pre-packaged stir fry mix from the produce with fresh veggies. I added about 2 tbsp of Hoisin Sauce, garlic & onion powder. I couldnt find the Chinese noodles and used fettucine instead and it was fine. Would definitely make it again.

the marriage of flavors, simple as they may seem, provide a complex collage for the pallate that gives a rainbow of olfatory delight worth experiencing!

Simply Delicious

I had to alter a few ingredients because I couldn't find them at the store, I didn't use bok choy, I used green bell pepper and I couldn't find the oyster sauce. I also couldn't find these noodles so I used pad thai noodles. When I served this I thought my husband was going to explode. He said it tasted like Chinese from the restaurant. I LOVED it. It most definitely made it in the recipe box. And besides the great authentic flavor it was super easy to make. It was ready in around 30 min. or so.

Used cilantro on show

I just watched the show as I looked over recipe. I noticed he added cilantro with the bok choy. I did not hear how much but would start with 2 Tablespoons then if needed might go up to 4 Tablespoons. I have not tried it yet but just wanted to let others know about the cilantro.

Good stuff

Tastes just like takeout, but more rewarding! The only bad thing is that it calls for too many noodles. I'm going to cut the noodles usage in half next time.

So easy and delicious!

I've made this tasty lo mein twice. I followed the recipe exactly the first time which was very good, and the second time I added shrimp and used napa cabbage instead of bok choy. It was just as good. A hit with my family, and cheaper than take out!

Excellent

Great Lo Mein!

I have no idea what some of the other reviewers are talking about with a "lack of flavor". Maybe they were trying to use light soy sauce and skimped on the seasame oil or something, but when I made this recipe, it was absolutely delicious and had a LOT of flavor. The second time I made this recipe, I did modify it slightly by using beef stock instead of chicken and that did make it even better, but it was definitely great to start with.

Slightly Disappointed

I saw Emril making this on his show, and I had to try it. It looked easy and sounded delicious. It was quite easy to make, but I was disappointed with the flavor (or lack there of). There were some great ingredients, but when put all together, this dish had little flavor.

A new favorite here!

Thanks Emeril. An easy, very good lo mein recipe. I've made it several times. I added a little tiny bit of hoisin sauce, it's just fabulous.

Super Easy

this dish was so easy to make. do your chopping before you fire up the stove, and don't cook the noodles until your meat and veges are finished, otherwise your noodles will be mush. Enjoy!!

We made this for a Asian inspired dinner club at my home this weekend. YUM! I made the recipe using shrimp rather than beef and it was scrumptious!!

Good

This recipe was good but I found it needed something else for my taste. I added about half a cup of smooth creamy peanut butter and it gave it an amazing flavor. I also think it would be better with chicken tenderloins than with beef.

Waste of Time and Money

I followed this recipe exactly and it is lacking in flavor. I expected more out of Emeril. This is a total disappointment. It is easy, the meat was tender but it needs to be kicked up about 3 notches. Don't try this recipe as printed. You will be disappointed.

I marinated the beef strips ahead of time and added ginger, garlic, tiger sauce and orange juice to the oyster sauce. It was delicious with plenty of flavor. I will be making that dish again!

Bland taste overall and chewy meat!

I wouldn't recommend this recipe to ANYONE. I've tried other Emeril Lagasse recipes and have, on the whole, enjoyed the tastes he provides. This one, however, is a complete disaster and almost entirely inedible. There is no flavor, no taste, no nothing except chewy meat. Talk about GROSS!

EXCELLENT!!!

I love oriental food, and this recipe is absolutly wonderful. it is easy to make, and the dish is very satisfying and makes a complete meal, it has it all, the vegetables, the meat, the noodles...it is even more fun to eat if you have the chop sticks..just to complete an absolute oriental experience!!!
