I tried these recently and I will never again buy supermarket rolls for dinners! The best part is that they are so easy to make.

This reminds me of the southern yeast biscuits of 20 years ago, without the work. Fantastic quick dinner bread. You can almost taste the missing yeast. Try it!

These are very easy to make, but they taste BLAND. Mine weren't dry, yet they tended to crumble. I won't be making them again.

I might make these again -- the teenage boys at the Thanksgiving table ate them. But then again, what didn't they eat? IF I try this recipe again, I would blend all the liquid ingredients together and add them to the pre-shifted dry stuff. (Not they way the recipe reads). It is really a challenge to mix everything adequately and not create building mortar. And then maybe the teenage boys wouldn't be tempted to THROW the rolls before they ate them! (It was quite a party!)

So easy and SO good

We loved these rolls -- so easy to make and so tasty. My husband says they remind him of cornbread (consistency-wise). If you try them, BE SURE to use Self-Rising flour. I didn't on my first try and made pucks. When I actually followed the recipe and used the right flour, they turned out GREAT. Very very tasty.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had these muffins at a Bed & Breakfast in Georgia about 15 years ago (but with cheese added to the recipe). I loved them so much, I asked for the recipe, but after one attempt, I realized something was missing, as they were a big old flop. When I saw Paula making these, I ran to the computer, downloaded the recipe and made them right there (including the cheese). They were terrific, just as I remember!! So easy and made a perfect dozen.

I know you look at this recipe and you think mayo in rolls well, I had to try them and all of us think these are really fluffy, light biscuits and very easy to make. I'm really not a biscuit maker, anyone could make these. I did have to make one change, needed to bake them for 25 minutes in a silcone muffin pan.

User: JEANNINE from Inglewood, CA    User Rating:
Yes, these were easy to prepare, but I would rather purchase frozen rolls than to make these. I didn't care for the texture or the taste for that matter. This is the first recipe out of many of Paula's recipes that I have not liked. So I guess that's not too bad. Paula is still my favorite by far.

So glad I looked at all your comments first. I made the following changes or additions: ADD 2 T cold butter, and 1/4 cup shredded cheese, EXTRA 1/4 t baking powder & 1/4 t salt (self-rising flour contains baking powder & salt). CHANGE to 3 T mayo & 1 T sour cream. Baked for 25 min. Rolls were perfect & still easy, however I could't have done it without the rest of you reviewers ~ so 4 stars. Thanks!

User: Lisa from Greensboro, NC    User Rating:
As a last minute Easter dinner filler, I made these rolls, and they were a hit. Delicious and moist, everyone wanted seconds, but not everyone got seconds. A second batch will be in order for the next function. If you like light and fluffy, be forwarned. These may not be the rolls for you. They were definitely more dense than the store-bought variety.

Love These Rolls
04/12/2007 at 10:08pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
Not only are these rolls really easy to make, they came out light and airy, and really tasty. I used skim milk because that's what I had at the time. I also added about 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and I used a muffin top pan instead of a conventional muffin pan. I hate muffin bottoms :o) Very time I watch Paula I just want to run and make something she just prepared. This time I actually did... You go Paula!

I like that you can whip these up quickly. They are a little bland but I wasnt expecting anything more. They could be easily seasoned with herbs for a savory meal or with lemon zest for strawberry shortcake. Will make them again and will recommend them to family.

User: CHARLOTTE from Springfield, IL    User Rating:
I just watched Paula make these today on TV and couldn't wait to try them tonight. They were, by far, the best that I've ever made/tasted. Everyone loved them. I will be making them a lot. I didn't have any self-rising flour but remembered I had cut an article out of the newspaper from Heloise. It was so simple to make: 1 cup minus 2 tablespoons flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Thanks, Paula!!!!

User: Janet from St. George, UT    User Rating:
Some of the reviewers indicated that this was not a "roll." It shouldn't be expected to be since "rolls" require yeast. Although it would have been better labeled as a biscuit, it was yummy no matter what you call it. The addition of mayo made for a moist texture and a nice taste. My family all loved them. Topping them with apricot jam made them even better.

User: LAURIA from Fairview, TN    User Rating:
For Thanksgiving and again at Christmas, I make the rolls for our family's gatherings, which usually numbers 35-40 people. These rolls were indeed easy. Since many of us enjoy eating a slice of ham or turkey on our rolls, I made them by dropping heaping spoonfuls onto cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart, instead of in the muffin pan. They cooked quickly, looked beautiful and got rave reviews in the taste department.

I made the same mistake in not using Self Rising Flour the first time. Second time, using the right flour, the rolls were just excellent. Makes exactly 12 and are just as advertised.....easy! Thanks so much, Paula! But, I have a question. I re-heated the few that were leftover the next day and found that they crumbled....like cake can & will. What can I do to prevent that from happening? Thanks for any input. Love the show.
