We made this with some marinara sauce for our family party, it was a big hit, and I think it was a nice difference from all the sweets everyone always brings. I would definetly make again.

This recipe was very simple and easy to follow but,the breadsticks were too dry for my taste. Maybe I'll try pizza dough next time.

Great with pancetta
12/22/2007 at 03:41pm
User: Kelly from Chapel Hill, NC    User Rating:
I goofed and bought pancetta instead of prosciutto. So I rolled the dough in parm cheese and wrapped it with pancetta. I baked it for the time instructed on the roll. It ended up great! My husband ate a ton of these and he's already asking for more!

it looks pretty good, but nothing to jump up and down over. chese and prosciutto is a nice touch though and the fact that the bread is ready mixed is a big help

great idea---toughest part was to find plain breadsticks-----grteat flavor--need real fresh grated cheese--but more important--find a good Italian prosciutto--

Veggie Twist

User: Landolphe from Homestead, FL    User Rating:
For a vegetarian version, substitute a thin slice of Worthington's Wham or Healthy's Veggie Salami; either works perfectly.

Yum!

I recomend just using a pizza crust instead of the breadsticks- you just roll out the entire thing and cut the slices how you like. These are a great start to a meal. My family loved them.

A Little Bit Dry

Although quick, easy and tasty, I found these to be slightly dry. They were prepared and baked according to the cooking instructions.

I was so glad to see this recipe again so that I could print it out(not that you need to read directions to make it)and add it to my recipe box to remind me to make this delicious snack, appetizer. I did not cut the bread sticks in half. As Giada says put the prosciutto around the bread sticks just before serving, and buy really really good prosciutto. Everyone loved them.

An Easier Way

In a pinch for time? Buy prepackaged breadsticks, spread with softened unsalted butter, sprinkle with a little grated parmesan cheese, if desired, and wrap with a thin slice of prosciutto. You can make ahead, wrapped well in plastic wrap and refrigerated until serving time.

Delicious and easy

We really enjoyed this. Have made them w/just the Parmesan, too. My store was out of breadsticks, so I used the French Loaf dough. Rolled it out and cut into 12 strips (about 1"x6"). It was my husband's favorite part of the meal.

We made these as one of the appetizers for our Christmas Party. I made the breadsticks in the morning, added the prosicutto in the afternoon and they were still fine by the evening. They went very quickly. Simple and easy I would definitely do this again.

Make sure you don't overcook the breadsticks!
04/10/2005 at 09:58pm
User: ALBERT from Flushing, NY    User Rating:
The breadsticks are chewy and tasty, for safety's sake you should make sure they are in the oven a bit less than the 20 minute recommended time to get them golden brown, but not burnt. The more Parmesan and other cheeses the better!

oh my gosh - how something so simple tastes so good. I made these as appetizers for Christmas dinner and they flew off the plate. Simply scrumptious! (and oh so easy , too)

Great...they were gone in minutes

User: MELISSA from Bloomington, MN    User Rating:
The breadsticks are a simple twist that everyone is sure to enjoy. We ate them right up! Only bad thing was getting the proscuitto to stay wrapped around the stick. Otherwise, real good.

Great as an appetizer or with the meal!

I fixed this for our large family game night. They disappeared first! I did not read the recipe closely so wrapped the prosciuotto around the dough before baking. We stilled loved them and have not tried them the way the recipe was written. We've had them several times since then. Thanks, Giada!

Not appetizing
01/23/2006 at 10:01am
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
The breadsticks came out o.k. but once you add the prociutto to it if they are not eaten RIGHT AWAY they get soggy. But regardless the recipe is not appetizing even if eaten RIGHT AWAY.

Great alternative...

User: JOSIE from burbank, CA    User Rating:
Great idea but I did something a little different...I added ground oregano and ground thyme to my parmesean cheese...made the breadstick a little tastier. The breadsticks are bit dry so I used puff pastry the second time and it was much better. Make sure your prosciutto is sliced very thin with more "meat" than fat and it'll work better when you wrap it around the breadstick...can be tricky but tastes really good if you do it right. I made this for Christmas and it was gone quickly.

Proscuitto Wrapped Parmesan Breadsticks
01/03/2005 at 09:16pm
User: RENEE from Scottsdale, AZ    User Rating:
I have made for several gatherings and they all disappeared. Children and adults both seemed to enjoy them. I also prepared the breadsticks and took them elsewhere and later wrapped them just prior to serving (I would not recommend this as they were much better fresh.) I found that it is easy to roll the sticks too thin which make them drier. Don't overbake. Easy and different appetizer and would highly recommend. In the future I would like to try adding some crushed red pepper or very finely diced jalapeno to give a bit more kick.

A winner

too sloppy
01/01/2005 at 08:21pm
User: SHARON from San Ramon, CA    User Rating:
The Parmesan breadsticks were good, but the presentation was sloppy and the flavors didn't work together well. It was impossible to keep the proscuitto wrapped tightly around the breadstick and hard to cover most of the stick with one piece.
