They didn't turn out like she showed on TV

I was excited to find this recipe

It tasted nothing like a thin mint cookie.

No way is it easy to make

It was time consuming and at the end it didn't taste that great

Messy!!

The ingredients are completely wrong! The chocolate turned out horrible and I will never try this recipe again.

Messy, but fun!

Microwaving chocolate would not be my first choice. A double boiler works better. And two bags was way too much. Used chocolate wafer cookies. I With a rubber spatula, I slathered a big wad of minty chocolate onto the chocolate wafer (which were much bigger than vaNilla wafers) and shook it a little bit. That evened the coating out. Both my son and I ended up with chocolate everywhere, but since I only make these for the holidays (nut allergies) we just sat down in front of a Christmas special and licked it off our hands. Yes, I could buy these at the store, but then it's not (semi-)homemade!

Something went wrong

The concept of these cookies is great, but the actual outcome is not. Something must have been left out of the recipe or changed because it did not work at all for me.

Good holiday cookie........

I made these with my 3 year old son. We made vanilla wafer sandwiches using 2 cookies and using a dab of the chocolate to hold them together. Instead of pouring the chocolate and wasting a lot, we dipped them into the chocolate, used a spoon to coat evenly, and placed them on a cookie sheet with wax paper. I yielded a lot more than 24...about a box and a half. I chilled them for about a half an hour and then put them in tins. Have gotten rave reviews from friends and family and am going to make another batch.

What happened

I tried making it per the instructions and when I added the extract to the completely melted chocolate and butter it turned into a ball of mint fudge. I saw the episode and really wanted to try it for holiday cookie trays,,,,no can do now.

incorrect ingredients

User: Cassandra from Mineral Ridge, OH    User Rating:
i followed the recipe exactly how it said...and its wrong. if you're making these cookies you should either use 1 bag of chips...or more butter. i say just keep adding some until its a pouring consistency. and if you add more butter make sure to add more peppermint extract. other than that they were quite yummy.

Why bother?

Just buy some cookies and serve as is. This is a time-waster and nobody is impressed with how well you can pretend to have purchased girl scout cookies.

I made these cookiew after seeing the show. They were SO EASY!! Everyone loved them and the disappeared quickly. Chocolate chips and wafers are cheap, so this seems to be a good alternative when you can't buy Thin Mints. :)

The kids just loved these

I made these like the directions called for and then I also made ones that I used white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, mint chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and milk chocolate chips. I also added different extracts and candy pieces (Chopped really fine)to the different chips. Then I used different kinds of cookies and they were a really big hit at our Halloween Party...

Very Messy.

Not really worth the effort. They didn't taste bad but they didn't anywhere near as good as the picture and like I said: messy. I was real disappointed.

I made these awhile back and I found that they were very messy. After making them, your fingers would get messy from eating them. I think the recipe would probably work better using candy bark.

I LOVE IT

These are great i love them because i get these cookies from the scouts once a year and now i can make them while i wait for the time to order them again!!!

Use a Double-Boiler

User: Nancy from Green Bank, NJ    User Rating:
I couldn't get the choc chips to melt in the microwave as directed, & had much better luck with the double boiler. The end result - these were pretty good & made a nice easy addition to a cookie tray. I don't think I'd make these by themselves, too. Too boring!

Not Easy. No Good.

Very messy. I GUARANTEE that they will look nothing like the photo and taste nothing like a thin mint GS cookie. These are poor imitations which are difficult to make.

Another time-waster

These are so easy to make and they don't last long in our house. They taste so close to the original.

We didn't care for this idea

It's very time consuming and the cookies don't look very good. They don't taste that great either. I found mint wafers in the grocery store so I don't have to wait for Girl Scout season anymore.

I dipped mine

dipping vanilla wafers in your own melted minty chocolate is a good idea. We thought so anyway.

I don't think the same person wrote all these reviews. They don't have the words gack, offputting, vile, chemical tasting, or skip it in them. Those are the ones that are written by the same person. Please review the recipes and stop complaining. It's kind of offputting....LOL

Messy to make

They all sound exactly the same. Sorry, but I don't trust them for a second. I don't believe you made them or have kids. I'm not bothering with this recipe because of that.

I went to the grocery store and found two different brands of thin chocolate mint cookies! Apparently I can get these all year round at the regular grocery store. I'm very happy because making these is such a pain and since my electric was disconnected I can't keep Girl Scout cookies in the freezer anymore. What a relief!!

Year round treat

These taste very much like the mint wafers you can get from the girl scouts. They are my favorite, but they only sell them once a year!! Now I can have my mint wafers whenever I want :)

won't make these again

I liked these better than the mint Girl Scout Cookies. But I will still buy them from the girl scouts.

Impossibly to make
02/24/2006 at 04:17pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
Anyone who claims this is "easy" is pulling your leg. This recipe is basically impossible to make come out as pictured. Try dipping those cookies and having them come out nice and even. Plus, the coating falls right off the cookie. It's a messy disaster.

VERY DISAPPOINTED....

These cookies were messy, uneven, awful taste, time consuming and waste of time and money. My family was disappointed. I am afraid to try another of Sandras cookie recipes again.
