Mint Wafers 12/23/2006 at 12:42am User: Anonymous User Rating: They didn't turn out like she showed on TV I was excited to find this recipe 12/22/2006 at 02:16am User: Sherri from Evergreen, IN User Rating: It tasted nothing like a thin mint cookie. No way is it easy to make 12/21/2005 at 06:29pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It was time consuming and at the end it didn't taste that great Messy!! 12/21/2005 at 01:22pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very messy to make and did not set! the mint extract was strong 12/18/2006 at 10:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and tasted chemically What a mess!!! 12/13/2007 at 02:59pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The ingredients are completely wrong! The chocolate turned out horrible and I will never try this recipe again. Messy, but fun! 12/10/2007 at 09:36pm User: Heather from Sunderland, MA User Rating: Microwaving chocolate would not be my first choice. A double boiler works better. And two bags was way too much. Used chocolate wafer cookies. I With a rubber spatula, I slathered a big wad of minty chocolate onto the chocolate wafer (which were much bigger than vaNilla wafers) and shook it a little bit. That evened the coating out. Both my son and I ended up with chocolate everywhere, but since I only make these for the holidays (nut allergies) we just sat down in front of a Christmas special and licked it off our hands. Yes, I could buy these at the store, but then it's not (semi-)homemade! Something went wrong 12/09/2006 at 08:41pm User: Joy from Decatur, GA User Rating: The concept of these cookies is great, but the actual outcome is not. Something must have been left out of the recipe or changed because it did not work at all for me. Good holiday cookie........ 12/09/2005 at 04:05pm User: kari from albuquerque, NM User Rating: I made these with my 3 year old son. We made vanilla wafer sandwiches using 2 cookies and using a dab of the chocolate to hold them together. Instead of pouring the chocolate and wasting a lot, we dipped them into the chocolate, used a spoon to coat evenly, and placed them on a cookie sheet with wax paper. I yielded a lot more than 24...about a box and a half. I chilled them for about a half an hour and then put them in tins. Have gotten rave reviews from friends and family and am going to make another batch. What happened 12/05/2007 at 09:20pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I tried making it per the instructions and when I added the extract to the completely melted chocolate and butter it turned into a ball of mint fudge. I saw the episode and really wanted to try it for holiday cookie trays,,,,no can do now. incorrect ingredients 12/05/2005 at 09:03pm User: Cassandra from Mineral Ridge, OH User Rating: i followed the recipe exactly how it said...and its wrong. if you're making these cookies you should either use 1 bag of chips...or more butter. i say just keep adding some until its a pouring consistency. and if you add more butter make sure to add more peppermint extract. other than that they were quite yummy. Mint Wafers 12/01/2005 at 08:55pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a very quick treat to make at the last minute Why bother? 11/14/2005 at 09:28pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Just buy some cookies and serve as is. This is a time-waster and nobody is impressed with how well you can pretend to have purchased girl scout cookies. great eats made easy 11/06/2005 at 08:40pm User: Della Mae from Louisville, KY User Rating: Its easy to be a grest cook with semt home made WELL WORTH IT!!!! 11/03/2005 at 04:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made these cookiew after seeing the show. They were SO EASY!! Everyone loved them and the disappeared quickly. Chocolate chips and wafers are cheap, so this seems to be a good alternative when you can't buy Thin Mints. :) The kids just loved these 10/28/2005 at 04:30pm User: Gloria from Barberton, OH User Rating: I made these like the directions called for and then I also made ones that I used white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, mint chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and milk chocolate chips. I also added different extracts and candy pieces (Chopped really fine)to the different chips. Then I used different kinds of cookies and they were a really big hit at our Halloween Party... Very Messy. 09/28/2006 at 09:15pm User: Jill from Riverton, AL User Rating: Not really worth the effort. They didn't taste bad but they didn't anywhere near as good as the picture and like I said: messy. I was real disappointed. Easy For A Sweet Fix 07/10/2006 at 12:42am User: Anonymous User Rating: I like that they are so easy and I can make in a pinch without going to alot of effort. Very messy 07/08/2006 at 12:55pm User: Andy from Crystal, MI User Rating: I made these awhile back and I found that they were very messy. After making them, your fingers would get messy from eating them. I think the recipe would probably work better using candy bark. I LOVE IT 07/08/2006 at 12:37pm User: Tamara from Minot, ND User Rating: These are great i love them because i get these cookies from the scouts once a year and now i can make them while i wait for the time to order them again!!! Use a Double-Boiler 07/07/2006 at 06:08pm User: Nancy from Green Bank, NJ User Rating: I couldn't get the choc chips to melt in the microwave as directed, & had much better luck with the double boiler. The end result - these were pretty good & made a nice easy addition to a cookie tray. I don't think I'd make these by themselves, too. Too boring! Not Easy. No Good. 07/05/2006 at 02:19pm User: Beatrix from Orange, MO User Rating: Very messy. I GUARANTEE that they will look nothing like the photo and taste nothing like a thin mint GS cookie. These are poor imitations which are difficult to make. Another time-waster 05/21/2006 at 11:36am User: Anonymous User Rating: I swear, one of these days I'm just going to stop trying her recipes altogether! AMAZING 04/04/2006 at 08:14pm User: Anonymous User Rating: THESE COOKIES ARE SOO DELICIOUS AND EASY TO MAKE EVERYONE LOVED THEM! BUT A LITTLE MESSY...IT IS ALL WORTH IT THOUGH These are great 03/14/2006 at 09:04am User: Carole from Slippery Rock, PA User Rating: These are so easy to make and they don't last long in our house. They taste so close to the original. We didn't care for this idea 03/04/2006 at 11:45am User: Anonymous User Rating: It's very time consuming and the cookies don't look very good. They don't taste that great either. I found mint wafers in the grocery store so I don't have to wait for Girl Scout season anymore. I dipped mine 03/04/2006 at 12:40am User: Anonymous User Rating: dipping vanilla wafers in your own melted minty chocolate is a good idea. We thought so anyway. These are easy and tasty 03/04/2006 at 12:13am User: Anonymous User Rating: I did make this recipe. Sheesh Anyione who calls this easy didn't really make it 03/03/2006 at 12:09pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe is nect to impossible. The cookies come out messy and uneven. I know I won't bother again. These are yummier than Thin Mints to me! 03/02/2006 at 11:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: yummy yummy! :) easy easy easy and good! 03/02/2006 at 11:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: thanks! great wafers! minty! 03/02/2006 at 10:44pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I don't think the same person wrote all these reviews. They don't have the words gack, offputting, vile, chemical tasting, or skip it in them. Those are the ones that are written by the same person. Please review the recipes and stop complaining. It's kind of offputting....LOL Messy to make 03/02/2006 at 09:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Plus they didn't look that great when we were done. Won't be keeping this recipe. I think the same person wrote all of the 5 star reviews 03/02/2006 at 04:56pm User: Anonymous User Rating: They all sound exactly the same. Sorry, but I don't trust them for a second. I don't believe you made them or have kids. I'm not bothering with this recipe because of that. delightful 03/02/2006 at 01:10am User: Anonymous User Rating: just great and easy. great cookies 03/01/2006 at 11:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: fun easy and good! and minty! :) 03/01/2006 at 09:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These looked like they had potential, so I made them. I was right! These were so fun to make with my kids 02/28/2006 at 10:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: They kept eating the wafers before dipping them in the chocolate though....so not all of ours came out round :) These tasted great though. minty!!! 02/27/2006 at 10:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These taste minty and yummy. homemade Thin Mints!!! 02/27/2006 at 09:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: too easy. I can't believe I didn't think of this myself! Thin Mints are my favorite, so five stars for this semi-homemade creation :) These were fun to make 02/26/2006 at 11:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and they taste great with the fresh chocolate coating. chocolate peppermint delights 02/26/2006 at 11:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: That's what we named these! No need to make these ever again! 02/26/2006 at 09:44pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I went to the grocery store and found two different brands of thin chocolate mint cookies! Apparently I can get these all year round at the regular grocery store. I'm very happy because making these is such a pain and since my electric was disconnected I can't keep Girl Scout cookies in the freezer anymore. What a relief!! Year round treat 02/26/2006 at 06:43pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These taste very much like the mint wafers you can get from the girl scouts. They are my favorite, but they only sell them once a year!! Now I can have my mint wafers whenever I want :) won't make these again 02/25/2006 at 07:33pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Girl Scout cookies are so much better and much easier to make. :) I won't bother making these again. Easy idea 02/25/2006 at 05:48pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I liked these better than the mint Girl Scout Cookies. But I will still buy them from the girl scouts. mint wafers 02/25/2006 at 05:39pm User: ELLA from mt. jackson, VA User Rating: These were just as good if not better then girl scouts. Impossibly to make 02/24/2006 at 04:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Anyone who claims this is "easy" is pulling your leg. This recipe is basically impossible to make come out as pictured. Try dipping those cookies and having them come out nice and even. Plus, the coating falls right off the cookie. It's a messy disaster. VERY DISAPPOINTED.... 02/04/2007 at 10:08am User: Anonymous User Rating: These cookies were messy, uneven, awful taste, time consuming and waste of time and money. My family was disappointed. I am afraid to try another of Sandras cookie recipes again. |
