This was simple to make but the bottom of the crust was gooey and you almost had to let it dry out after it was cooked.

Delicious!!!

Interesting Bars

I made these in a pinch for a holiday party dessert and was a bit disappointed. The flavor was really lacking. Add more jam than you think you need- I think that was part of my mistake. They were kind of bland too- next time I might sprinkle a bit of grahm cracker over the top with the nuts as well. Just needs more flavor. On an upnote- they look really beautiful. I sprinkled powdered sugar over them and they looked bakery perfect.

on a scale from 1 to 53 this would be a modest 37 1/2. Needs to be alot sweeter!!!! just add about 1 7/9 cup of pure hawaiian cane sugar (if its not hawaiian in wont work!!!!). this should sweeten it up nicely! enjoy your holiday everyone!!!!

Just buy a box of lemon bar mix instead!

I must be a glutton for punishment, I keep trying this silly woman's recipes! This was nasty, and I agree with the majority of the other reviewers, WAAAAAY too sweet! Instead of wasting time with this recipe, go buy a bok of lemon bars and make them ~ I think they actuially come in a raspberry flavor now, too; and I guarantee they will taste much better!!!!!

So GOOD!!

I think I'd like to spread my sugar consumption around a bit and not blow the whole thing on a substandard baked good using pre-fab chemical dough and jam.

Who found this way too sweet. Semi-homemade is one thing but far too much sugar is another. Tossed the whole batch. Not even my 9 year old would eat it and you know they'll eat anything that's sweet.

Foil Issues and Peach Rules
08/10/2007 at 09:10am
User: Stephanie from Havertown, PA    User Rating:
I watched Alton Brown make fudge using a similar method of lining the pan so I figured it would work well. It would have been a much better idea to line the pan with 2 sheets of foil so that you could pull up on 4 sides of the pan. Instead I spent of good amount of time trying to disengage little bits of foil from the 2 sides that weren't the "handles." Also, I made two batches, one with raspberry jam and one with peach preserves, and the peach was superior by far.

Yummy

My family and friends love this recipe! I have made it many times. Once I doubled the recipe and used half with raspberry preserves and half with blueberry. It was a big hit! My family now request me to make this for them over and over. I have also given out this recipe to a few friends. Great job Sandra!

This is an amazing recipe. I have tried it with all different types of jams, my favorite is cherry and I substituted pecans for the walnuts. My guests all say more please. This truly a keeper.

The lemon extract and pecans added such wonderful flavor. I loved the easy idea of kneading the extract into the dough. It's an easy semi-homemade idea to use often with other flavorings!

Delicious and easy breezy!

Raspberry cake bars are wonderful, this recipe however isnt but she is so close. I mean what is up with kneading in lemon extract? America's Test Kitchen, on PBS, has a cookbook with a recipe that is just as easy, cheaper, and produces a way better product in the end. Plus you can take credit for the dish. IF you really cant cook ATK is the way to go. They even do taste tests, and test... and triple check all recipes to get them just right. There is a better way.

just good

The pecans, lemon extract and raspberry jam cut down on the sweetness of the sugar cookie dough. Not that I don't like sweet stuff, but these are so good. And I just didn't think they were too sweet as other reviewers have mentioned. They are sweet enough though! I wouldn't want savory dessert bars anyway. Thanks for a wonderful and easy recipe :)

Easy and Great!

Taste great, but not as shown in the program

User: MElissa from The Woodlands, TX    User Rating:
Just made these, and they are great, but I followed the recipe and then went back and watched the show a 2nd time, and she mixes a few things up. For instance, she adds the pecans after the second layer of dough in the recipe, but in the show she adds them before. Also, she uses one whole package of dough for the bottom layer in the show, and only 2/3rds in the recipe. Either way, they turned out great!

Dry but otherwise good

I used a very thin layer of cherry jam instead of rasberry and my whole family loved them. They were slightly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. The toasted pecans added just the right amount of crunch. They were so easy and quick to make also. Thanks.

I used a little less lemon extract for these, because I wanted to taste the raspberry mostly. They are very very very good! Not to sweet at all. Next time I make these I'm going to dust them with powdered sugar. The nuts were a great addition. Thx for an easy, yummy recipe!

Will be making again and again
