Best Scampi I've Made Yet 12/17/2006 at 11:02pm User: Renee from Hartford, CT User Rating: Hands down the best and I've made dozens of scampi recipes. I used angel hair and a dash of vermouth in addition to the white wine and it came out amazing. I added the parsley at the end to get the most out of its flavor. Also, I used a plastic squeeze bottle of real lemon juice from Sicily that I got at my local supermarket and the flavor was excellent. It tasted better than fresh squeezed! I recommend using that if you can find it. I added a few more squirts of lemon juice at the end too. This recipe will become one of my regulars! I used super-quality ingredients (wild shrimp from Whole "Paycheck", meyer lemon, Picholine Olive Oil from BR Cohn - which is so good you could drink it with a straw). Thanks, Tyler - I am a huge fan, your recipes, tips and techniques never fail! Yummy! 11/09/2006 at 02:16pm User: Cara from Chino Hills, CA User Rating: I thought this was really good. Dry white wine is definitely preferred. Would suggest more garlic if you like garlic. Needed Something More 11/08/2006 at 08:26pm User: Nathan from Yuma, AZ User Rating: The dish was quick and easy to prepare, and smelled great while cooking. I was a little disappointed at the tasting. It seemed like it needed something more to complete the dish. The lemon flavor was strong but there wasn't much else to taste. The pasta was too dry for my liking. I ended up making a quick alfredo sauce which made it much better. Delicious! 11/07/2006 at 08:45pm User: Debra from Salem, OH User Rating: Loved how easy and delicious this recipe was - my fiance loves shrimp but has never liked pasta - so I was somewhat hesitant - but he loved it and said this is definitely a dinner he wants to have again - I added an additional dash of red pepper - and pinenuts for added texture - delish!! tasty 11/07/2006 at 08:35pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this was a very tasty recipe. my whole family liked it. Delicious and simple!!! 11/06/2005 at 06:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is the first time I made shrimp scampi, and I was so pleased with the results! I added a pinch of crushed red pepper to give the dish a little "kick," and it was perfect - not too spicy at all. I thought the lemon made the dish a little too sour, so I added sugar to balance it out. A bit of added salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese to top it all off made for a wonderful dish. I've never looked so forward to leftovers! Thanks, Tyler! Excellent Shrimp 11/04/2006 at 11:23am User: Dorie from Sheboygan, WI User Rating: This recipe was so simple. Thank you foodnetwork good 10/02/2004 at 06:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: good Quite Tasty!! 10/02/2004 at 08:33am User: Anonymous User Rating: ...and very easy. I think it's a wonderful base from which one should tinker a little. Most importantly: USE MORE GARLIC. (But I tend to like my garlic scampi with shrimp in it!). One thing I'd recommend is to not drain the pasta too well and throw it into the pan a tiny bit wet (or possibly be a bit more generous with the OO). Mine got a little bit sticky in the serving skillet on the table. It was super fast and really easy, though -- looks really impressive for guests. Easy to Make & Delicious 10/01/2007 at 09:21pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was easy to make and the dish was delicious. When I found out he got off early one Saturday from work, I decided to use this recipe because I know he likes shrimp and he loves pasta. He was born to a mostly Italian family. The directions were easy to follow and by the time he got home I almost had it ready. My boyfriend says he usually doesn't like shrimp scampi but he loved this dish and said it was delicious. Coming from an italian, that says alot. The flavors compliment each other perfectly. Shrimp Scampi 06/28/2005 at 07:36am User: Judy from Plantation, FL User Rating: This is an excellent receipe and easy ounce you get everything in place. Fabulous 06/25/2007 at 05:31pm User: Kelly from Morristown, NJ User Rating: Excellent scampi recipe. I only had one shallot on hand but the taste was still great. I highly recommend the red pepper flakes and using more garlic than the recipe calls for (which I did at the recommendation of those who found the original recipe a bit bland). Also, I used less than half a box of angel hair and had just enough of the wine/butter/oil to cover the pasta. So if cooking a full box of pasta I recommend increasing the remaining ingredients. Absoutely delicious 06/22/2005 at 06:00pm User: Theresa from Pomona, NY User Rating: This recipe was very easy to follow, and the prep and cooking time was very quick. My family and I were very pleased and delighted...it met all of our expectations to having a absolutely delicious pasta meal. It is easy to do and very satisfying with a green salad and some hot crusty rolls or garlic bread. I have discovered that by replacing the salt and pepper with Old Bay Seasoning the flavor really pops and it becomes an even more satisfying dish. For the two of us I use one half pound of shrimp and one-third pound of pasta. Try this recipe and it will become one of your favorites! awesome!! 06/20/2006 at 10:45pm User: TRACEY from Auburn, WA User Rating: Your shrimp scampi recipe is so good. My family just loved it they all wanted 2nds! Tyler your the greatest. Valentine's Day hit 06/13/2006 at 11:40pm User: ALISHA from Kailua, HI User Rating: I made this dish for my boyfriend on V-Day and it was my first foray into dinner cooking (I'm a breakfast pro), and he was super impressed. The sauce was delicious and not as oily as when I get it in restaurants. Very easy to follow instructions, thank you! Excellent tasting and easy prep 06/11/2006 at 08:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was absolutly delicious! The prep time and ingredients were minimal. Even my friend's husband who does not particurly care for pasta loved this! Good but greasy 06/10/2006 at 12:28am User: Christian from Starkville, MS User Rating: The meal was excellent and I loved it but I think next time I am going to cut back on the butter and OO. I am a college student and the meal was a little pricey but I would make it again cause I do have a whole bottle of wine which I don't drink so I know I will be making it again. good eats 06/10/2005 at 07:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a great and easy recipe. adapted to "Crab Scampi" 06/10/2004 at 09:30pm User: DEBBIE from Pottsville, PA User Rating: My family enjoyed this recipe very much. We, too, added the parsley at the very end of the cooking, which allowed it to keep the bright green color and fresh taste. We'll have this again. Little better than ok 06/06/2004 at 06:35pm User: CHERYL from Livermore, CA User Rating: Not as flavorful as I thought it would be. Also, recipe does not state what to do with the parsley. Therefore, I threw it on top of the dish and served it family style. Good 06/03/2007 at 03:41am User: Anonymous User Rating: This dish was good. Another winner 05/17/2006 at 02:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is such a easy versatile recipe. You can make the dish in less time than it takes to cook the pasta! I halved the butter, used 3/4 cups of white wine, and added fresh chopped tomatos during the last couple of minutes of cooking. For added kick, season the shrimp with spice before cooking it. Decent 05/16/2006 at 11:30am User: n from germantown, MD User Rating: It was good, will make again. As Tyler would say...FANTASTIC 05/15/2006 at 11:32pm User: KIM from Elk Grove, CA User Rating: This dish was excellent. Light, flavorful, and so easy to make even for a novice like me. I didn't have shallots, so used 1/2 onion. Topped it off with freshly grated parmiggiano reggiano. This dish was restaurant quality! Will have to make it when company comes. Quick & Easy Plus Romantic, What More 05/14/2006 at 03:59pm User: Sidney from Port Gibson, MS User Rating: This recipe made even myself look like a gourmet chef. I left the garlic at two cloves...ya know, the old one clove a person pasta rule. A little less lemon than the recipe called for. I also added some parmesan cheese and chopped tomato at the very end. Absolutely delicious. really, really good 04/28/2006 at 08:37pm User: Sarah from Athens, GA User Rating: I made this recipe with a few of my friends recently. It was SO easy to make, and took me less than 20 minutes to make (precooked, frozen shrimp- hey I'm on a college kid's budget!). I added just a little bit more garlic, and the one extra change I'm going to make for next time is to add some creole seasoning when seasoning the shrimp. I put a little bit in this time and it was really good. I definitely recommend this recipe. Loved it! 04/27/2005 at 12:08pm User: SAM from Las Vegas, NV User Rating: This was a great and easy. I will probably add a little more olive oil and wine to the sauce next time though, just so that there is more at the bottom of the plate. good 04/24/2006 at 09:22am User: eileen from east islip, NY User Rating: this was very nice yummy 04/24/2005 at 08:28pm User: Anonymous User Rating: quick, easy and delicious Shrimp Scampi w/linguini 04/17/2005 at 08:48pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Excellent recipe. Good and Fast 04/13/2005 at 05:55pm User: JOHN from wonder Lake, IL User Rating: Very good and easy to make. Delicious 04/12/2005 at 04:53pm User: DONNA from Haymarket, VA User Rating: Added a few cherry tomatoes at the end, doubled the wine, and added a little chicken stock, we like alot of sauce. Also added a bit o lemon zest for that extra zing. Instead of adding the extra oil and butter at the end, to thicken it just a little I rolled a bit of room temperature butter in flour and added it off the heat. Divine!!!! The one thing that I thought could give it an extra boost would be to add additional garlic. I am not a huge fan of shrimp but thought this was very good, and he said it was excellent. He is fussy and commented the garlic and lemon were "just right." (I did not add the extra evoo at the end or add the red pepper.) Thanks Tyler! Sorry Tyler.... 04/05/2008 at 07:23pm User: Kelly from Benton Harbor, MI User Rating: To me this one was a complete dud. My shrimp was tender as was my pasta. All my ingredients were very fresh. This recipe was so bland. I guess if you're someone that thinks that if you add shrimp your meal is elegant this one would be a winner. We filled up on bread and salad and threw out the main course. Thumbs down!
