Family favorite 07/15/2008 at 04:11pm User: Kira from Concord, NC User Rating: This is the best shrimp recipe I've found in a long time. I cut down on the spiciness for our family but any way you make it you will love. The sauce is great for dipping crusty french bread too. Very quick and easy to make with very little cleanup. Great Shrimp Recipe 05/14/2008 at 06:03pm User: Patricia from Franklin, TN User Rating: Loved this dish - I split the backs of the shrimp from the top to the tail so more sauce could permeate the shrimp. I thought 20 minutes was a tad long, and knew that the shrimp were done in 14-15 minutes. Pat from Tennessee WOW, excellent flavor 04/12/2008 at 10:37am User: mary from westland, MI User Rating: I used 2 lbs of shrimp and halved the rest of the ingredients because it was just for myself and my husband. This dish is soooooooooo simple and full of flavor. Will definately be making it again, especially this summer when I am entertaining. Thank you Paula!!!!!!! Try with these tips... 02/08/2008 at 06:03pm User: jen from davenport, IA User Rating: I was really excited about this recipe based on the reviews and thought it would be similar to a favorite recipe of ours at a local restaurant. However, while it definatley has potential...here's what I think I'd do differently. I used jumbo (13-15ct) peeled shrimp cuz some of the reviews said it worked fine...I would use unpeeled shrimp next time and not do the jumbo. The sauce was really lemony also...I like lemon just fine...but I was looking for more cajun/spice to come through. I might use less than half the lemon, very little lemon juice in the sauce, more worcestershire, add some white wine and kick up the spices. I will try again with hopes of reaching that deep, dark and spicy sauce I was looking for. Family pleaser 07/17/2007 at 12:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is so easy and delicious! I serve it with/over risotto, rice, or pasta and my husband and children just love it. no so fiery shrimp 07/10/2007 at 08:21pm User: Valerie from Rocklin, CA User Rating: I thought that the shrimp would have a little more kick to it. The buttery sauce was good, but the shrimp was ok. Absolutely wonderful! 07/08/2007 at 11:38am User: TORI from nashville, TN User Rating: As usual, Paula rocks. For those who don't like heat, leave out the hot sauce and you've got a wonderful garlic shrimp. add more heat! 06/07/2007 at 09:56pm User: Shelley from Houston, TX User Rating: Loved this, but the ingredient list didn't seem enough to be truly fiery... so I added red pepper flakes. Perfect! It was OK 06/07/2007 at 09:30am User: Anonymous User Rating: Wasn't very spicy. Tasted to much Worcestershire sauce. Recipe could me modified a little. Might try again. Great taste 05/13/2007 at 08:37am User: KAREN from Hackettstown, NJ User Rating: I loved the flavor the shrimp takes on but was a little dissappointed that the sauce separated. I cooked this shrimp recipe. It was a hard time for us: I was in between jobs and my husband was working at a butter factory long hours to pay the bills. I was nervous making this recipe due to the amount of butter and his disdain for butter at the time. Never the less, he loved it and I am making it a tradition on Christmas Eve to make it for him and remember where we have come from. I can't cook worth a cent but with this recipe I was able to give my husband hope. Thank you. The best ever.... 12/05/2006 at 11:19am User: Melissa from Rego Park, NY User Rating: I have made this meal a number of times and every time I do my friends and family cannot get enough. SIMPLY THE BEST 09/25/2006 at 04:05pm User: SUSAN from NEWARK, CA User Rating: This is simply the best shrimp I have EVER eaten. I've made it several times but the best was when all I could find were jumbo easy peel prawns and oh my gosh my husband and I could not stop eating them.In fact we finished the whole platter when before there were always leftovers. I will stay with the jumbo prwans from now on. The Best!! hot shrimp!!! 09/24/2006 at 02:31pm User: CINDY from portsmouth, VA User Rating: My husband loves this dish. It's spicy but not gratuitously (sp?). Up here in the north you can't always get good shrimp so the last couple times I used peeled/deveined and served it over rice. The family went nuts. It's easy to resize the recipe but the leftovers are even better after a day or two. Make this recipe. Great for a dinner party 09/05/2005 at 01:43pm User: Raynald from Allentown, PA User Rating: Great recipe everyone loved the shimp especially the sauce which we all dipped italian bread into. We made a "barbeque shrimp" with hickory flavoing. I'll try this out and let you know if it's as good as the one we ate 20 years ago. SHRIMPLY SCRUMPTIOUS & EASY 08/14/2005 at 05:31pm User: HELEN from Brooklyn, NY User Rating: I alternate between Paula's Black Pepper Shrimp and this one. We love them both, but this has a special kick. The hot sauce and lemon add something really special. I usually make it for 2-4 people. I use 3/4 lb of shrimp and 1 stick of butter for each 2 servings, and half the amount of other ingredients. A large mixed green salad and warm, crusty bread make a meal that is a real treat. Great Shrimp 08/13/2005 at 09:28am User: CORITA from Sarasota, FL User Rating: This is such a good recipe, even though I mistakenly used 6 times the amount of hot sauce and 3 times the worst. sauce for 1 pound of shrimp, it was great. Really, really hot, but great! It goes together so quickly, uses things I usually have on hand, and bakes up perfectly, even in a toaster oven. I'm making it again tonight, but I'll use the right amount of ingredients this time. Thank you, Paula!! Easy/Delicious 08/08/2005 at 09:39pm User: Judy from Hercules, CA User Rating: It is spicy but very good. Shrimp that everyone loves... 06/23/2005 at 10:11pm User: james from Lunenburg, VT User Rating: My whole family loved this recipe. Perfect for a boat cruise on the lake. Thanks Paula. Can Make This 5 Stars 06/23/2005 at 10:59am User: AL from Odenton, MD User Rating: Great quick and easy recipe. Hold the lemon in the sauce...there is enough in the slices added to the shrimp. Also, I have to believe most want more pizazz than is here. Add a tablespoon of cayenne (a teaspoon for you non-hots folks, cuz it needs the flavor). Finally, if there was a way to thicken the sauce a smidge after baking and before going in the dipping bowls, then you have 5 Stars!!! Easy and delicious 05/31/2005 at 03:36pm User: AMY from McKinney, TX User Rating: This couldn't have been easier and tasted great. We had some shrimp leftover that I served over rice for lunch the next day and the flavor was even better. I used Tabasco (what was on hand) but will get Texas Pete to try next time. The reviews are right on, the sauce is EXCELLENT. Next time I'll also have two loaves of bread instead of one. My bf couldn't get enough. Even my 7 year old granddaughter loved it. Way to go Paula. It was so easy and using the garlic, hot sauce, and worcestershire sauce really added a great flavor to the shrimp. I normally just cook shrimp with butter and this really spiced it up! Also, with my french bread, I cut some slices, coated them on one side with the extra butter sauce and put them in the oven on the rack for about 5 min. This turned out very good too! fantastic 03/23/2005 at 05:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: fantastic Hot, spicy and OH SO GOOD!!!! 03/22/2005 at 05:13pm User: MARIE from south huntington, NY User Rating: This recipe was so good, that my family requested it again next week....easy, easy, easy and don't forget the crusty bread for dipping!!! Better Than I Thought!! 02/11/2005 at 08:50pm User: DONNA from Branchburg, NJ User Rating: Tried this for the first time tonight after reading all the reviews. I have done a similar recipe with shrimp in the shell - but with olive oil and grilled. This was even better - more moist and easier to cook (without fear of overcooking or drying it out). I had to scale the recipe down to 2 portions, which was the hard part. So I used roughly 3/4 stick unsalted butter, added about 1/3 cup white wine, scant lb shrimp, 1 generous TBL of both Worcestershire and lemon juice, 1 1/2 tsp pepper, about 2 tsp hot sauce, (sorry to admit this - generous amount of chopped garlic from the jar) garlic salt and threw in both a few slices of lemon plus some zest. My husband, who will eat shrimp but never asks for it mopped up the whole plate. I think I went even a little more on the hot sauce because I know he likes it. If you like shrimp (and I could eat it everyday) TRY IT. Way to go, Paula!!! As a southern girl, I was raised on peel and eat shrimp, but this recipe is right on the money. The sauce is wonderful with french bread. Paula, you even turned a country Tennesse boy into a shrimp lover with this one! Thanks!! Shrimply Delicious! 01/03/2005 at 11:47pm User: JANET from Gallup, NM User Rating: Love it, Love it, Love it! I used Maine shrimp(they are small) and it was a hit with everyone! Yummy 12/20/2004 at 11:36am User: MARY from Camdenton, MO User Rating: This recipe is easy and delicious. This recipe is ready for the oven in 5 minutes and ready to eat shortly after. Don't forget the bread for mopping up every bit of the savory sauce! This is a grand slam, Paula! A friend of ours is originally from Louisiana and she has made a recipe similar to this for get-togethers. However, she will never share any of her "secret" recipes. When I saw Paula make this on her show, I told my husband I was going to buy all the ingredients and make it at home. I could've dipped bread for hours in the spicy sauce! Thanks! finger lickin good 12/09/2004 at 07:19pm User: PAUL E from palmdale, CA User Rating: the potlikker(juces from cooking) with tosted garlic bread was just as tasty as the shrimp Very Good 12/08/2004 at 12:33pm User: VIVIAN G. from Gretna, LA User Rating: I live in the Deep South. The best shrimp I ever had!!!!! 10/03/2004 at 01:00am User: LEAH from riverside, CA User Rating: You must try this recipe, you won't be sorry. adrienne sez 10/02/2004 at 06:26pm User: ADRIENNE from floral park, NY User Rating: Shrimp so pink, plump and perfect, you'll be surprised by the soon to follow kick. This easy to prepare dish needs only a big bowl of steamed rice or loaf of crunchy French bread to soak up its buttery hot sauce. I've even made it low-carb style over chopped broccoli and it still delited the palate--I used peeled shrimp life is too short-- Thanks, Paula! 09/29/2004 at 07:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a sure hit at my last bbq. And don't forget the bread, the sauce is to die for. This is one I will use again and again, even the kids loved it! Thanks, Paula ! A new standard! 09/28/2004 at 09:16am User: Anonymous User Rating: The bar has been raised. My husband and I love this recipe...and we've been eating shrimp all of our lives. All the dipping is devine. Thank you Miss Paula! elbow lickin' good 09/24/2004 at 01:53am User: CAROLINE from Pocatello, ID User Rating: My whole family loved these shrimp. I'm in charge of Thanksgiving this year for my side of the family and you can bet these will be on the menu!!! Mmmmmmmm 09/20/2004 at 08:40pm User: ALISON from Whitehall, PA User Rating: Wow, what can I say? I am not one for spicy things, but for some reason I decided to try it. The only thing I would suggest to those who haven't tried it...I used unsalted butter (the recipe didn't specify..that is what I had)...the other ingredients make it salty enough that you really don't need the salted butter. Other than that...all I can say is :::in Paula's Southern accent::: "It sure is good, y'all!!!" My new favorite! 09/19/2004 at 01:59pm User: LINDA from Chicago, IL User Rating: This recipe has taken the crown from an old Frugal Gourmet recipe I have always loved (Cajun Barbecued Shrimp), but which is considerably more complex and time-consuming. Frankly, this has every bit of bang for the buck and is incredibly simple! The Worcestershire sauce is a savory and delicious ingredient on top of the richness of the butter and the spiciness of the hot sauce. This is just fantastic (and the best part is sucking on the shrimp before peeling them!)! Delicious! 09/15/2004 at 03:03am User: ANDREA from bend, OR User Rating: Great recipe! A dish to put up against any coastal restaurant entree! 09/14/2004 at 05:00pm User: DEANNA from Madison, AL User Rating: This recipe is so easy and quick. Actually, I was a little short on butter so I made up the difference in olive oil. Other than that, I followed the recipe to a "T" and loved it. But if you like a little milder or even hotter, you can play with those ingredients. We had French bread and a salad and called it a meal. This shrimp dish will stand up to anything you can get in a coastal restaurant. A real time saver for me is that my grocer carries fresh shrimp deveined but still in the shell. It's worth the extra you may pay to get them already deveined. Love It...Love It ..... Love It!!!! 09/09/2004 at 01:35am User: LAURIE from peoria, AZ User Rating: MMMM MMMMM Good. Couldn't get enough of this dish. Will make again and again. Not too spicy for us but just enough to give it a kick!! You won't be disapointed!! Excellent 08/20/2004 at 04:50pm User: KIMBERLY from Boulder, CO User Rating: This was so good. I halved the recipe and made it for 4 of us. It was great with french bread. It was the perfect amount of spiciness. It wasn't too hot, but still had a kick to it. Easy 08/15/2004 at 11:20am User: Anonymous User Rating: So easy, so quick. What a fabulous dish for entertaining. It made me a winner 08/14/2004 at 10:16pm User: TERRI from Treasure Island, FL User Rating: Absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to server this again at my next dinner party. 08/14/2004 at 10:10am User: Anonymous User Rating: Excellent 08/14/2004 at 09:47am User: Anonymous User Rating: These shrimp are excellent! I half the recipe and use 1-1 1/2 pounds of shrimp and I use 1/4 the amount of black pepper - It's still fabulous!! I made it for me and my husband on a Saturday and he sent me to the grocer on Monday for more fresh shrimp because it was all he could think about and craved it so badly. We served it over angel hair and it was to die for!! Superb - Thanks Paula - You are a gem!! Dipping french bread in the sauce was heavenly! AMBROSIA!!!!! 08/09/2004 at 03:35pm User: NATALIE from Huntington Beach, CA User Rating: This is honestly the best shrimp recipe I've ever tasted, let alone prepared myself. I just finished off the leftovers from last night and I'm on some sort of fiery cajun shrimp-enduced high. What a nice combination of flavors! The butter and the lemon complimented the fieriness just right. I just wish there were a bit more sauce left for dipping! I've still got nearly a half loaf of bread. : ( Paula, your recipe rocks and rolls!!! 08/08/2004 at 10:56am User: Anonymous User Rating: Great!!!!!!!!!! 08/07/2004 at 11:51pm User: SARAH from Irving, TX User Rating: My kids love shrimp to start with, but when I made this they went crazy.I did not use the whole amount of hot sauce but it sill had abit of a bite.I've recomended it to my mom and others. The best! 08/07/2004 at 03:04am User: NADA from Fort Worth, TX User Rating: It is fast, east and oh, so good. A great week night dinner entree. I served it with sour dough bread rolls and a fresh green salad. Wonderful! Thank You, Paula!!! 08/06/2004 at 08:09pm User: KIM from Bensalem, PA User Rating: I was so excited when I saw Paula making this recipe.
