Tweaked it a bit... sooo good and easy!

This was absolutely wonderful. I used chicken thighs-browned them ahead for some color, and added them whole into the soup. I also added an extra 1/2tsp of cayenne and 1/2 a jalapeno instead of adobo, as well as a can of chopped tomoatoes instead of the single tomato. I threw it all into a crockpot too and was absolutely wonderful! So easy and fast!

Great recipe, however I couldn't locate Chipolte in Adobo sauce so I had to go ahead without it and it still turned out great!

Classic tortilla soup

This soup was very easy to make and very delicious - what I consider to be the classic version of tortilla soup. I served with tortilla strips, sour cream and shredded cheese and hot sauce for those who like it spicy. The flavor of the chipotle pepper made the meal. I served with cornbread on the side.

It's perfect for a nice chilly night or for someone sick to eat instead of the famous chicken soup.

I have always heard how good Tortilla Soup was but had never tried it. I got this recipe by email from you and thought I'd try it. My family had a wide range of taste preferences, some like it hot and some don't. Well this was great for everyone. My family loved it, and it was easy to make. Thanks and please send more great recipes. Rebecca R Victorville CA

easy soup

Easy soup, not too much effort but, as I taste it now, a little too salty, so omit salt when making this...I'll add sour cream and some cheese, so maybe that will get rid of the saltiness. But overall, a good recipe! (I had to use cream corn 'cause I didn't have regular corn and it was still fine)

WOW!!!

This recipe is fabulous. The soup has such fresh flavor with the lime, cilantro mingling with the sweetness of the corn. A real treat for the tastebuds.

The full tablespoon of chili powder in this recipie is too overpowering for the rest of the flavors, next time I would use half that amount. Besides that it was good, but different from tortilla soup that I am used to eating in resturants.

I had to subsitute a few of the ingredients, but I really loved this soup. I wasn't sure what to expect and was hoping that my wife would like it. From the first spoonful I was hooked. I'm going to make it for my parents when they visit us later this week! Thanks for a great, easy recipe.

Great fast soup

User: Cheryl from Mountlake Terrace, WA    User Rating:
This is a very fast and tasty tortilla soup. I cut up and quickly fry regular tortillas rather than using the store bought variety. As with most soups, it's even better the next day. Reserve some fresh cilatro, avocado, tortilla strips/chips, and sour cream to top the soup just before eating. Enjoy!

This was okay but definately needed something...I just wish I knew what that something was. Maybe some body. It was also quite salty/tart, without a whole lot of other flavor going on. Unfortunately I dont think Ill be making this again.
