Very tasty. My husband, who had Swiss Chard once and didn't like it, said that this was very good - tastes like spinach. I shared it with a co-worker who also liked it. Once you do all the prep work, it goes together fairly quickly. Fresh spinach could easily be substituted. I don't think it needed to bake as long as an hour. I think 15-30 minutes would suffice.

A tart made from swiss chard! I can't believe how good this dish turned out. The recipe reads like a lot of steps, but it's not too complicated, and very worth it. If this is what real italian cooking is like, I want to learn more.

Great Use for Chard

This is a great use for chard because it boils down to a dense fraction of the original volume. The earthy, rustic flavor of the greens remains the underlying essence.

Fantastic!

This tart was very easy to make, and was very delicious. The cooking time was only a half hour. I made it for a Father's Day brunch and I added some cooked, crumbled, double-smoked bacon. I will make this again!

So easy!

This was my first time to cook swiss chard. It turned out surprisingly good! My friend never had swiss chard before either. It was the first time that he actually praised a dark-green dish. He always tries to eat greens only for the sake of keeping health. However, he did love the taste this time! I only used 3/4 cup of bread crumb, because that's all I had on hand. It worked out fine. And I uses about 3/4 cup of cheese for reducing calories. It works out fine too. Good cheese makes huge difference.

Works with kale too!

I used kale and skipped the boiling step and just sauteed with onion, garlic with pepperoncini. I only used one pound of greens and I still thought there wouldn't be enough egg so I used 4 eggs instead of 3. Came out great, and I can't figure out what the secret is. Maybe it's the parmagianno and egg layered among the greens or maybe it's the bread crumb crust, but this was really delicious and a great way to have eggs for dinner!
