This has become a favorite side dish in our house. I usually don't bother with the arugula - just serve the bean dish to rave reviews. It's the perfect accompaniment to the chicken florentine style from this same episode.

i made this recipe with the chicken florentin, which is also very delicious, and it was a hit. I served it over white rice and it was good. I found the arugale to be a bit bitter and it was good, but over powering. I also wasn't used to the flavor of sage because it's not something i've used before, so i'll use a little less next time. Delicious recipe, easy and yummy.

For such a simple dish, this packs a LOT of flavor. Done in a flash, a great super easy side dish. I love that it's mostly pantry ingredients that you will usually have on hand. I used dried herbs and it still tasted great! Like all of Giada's recipes....this one's a keeper!

Yeah! Great flavors here, made this tonight! It was a hit! The only thing different that I did was add one can of Garbanzo Beans instead of 2 of Cannelli and it was a good mixture. The greens are so different, mustardy and complement those tomatoes, herbs, and everything else. It not only tastes fabulous but looks really beautiful on a platter.

I loved these beans and my husband said it was one of the best things he has ever eaten (and we eat out at very nice retaurants!) Maybe we were Italians on our former life! These beans would make a great meal all by themselves. The sage and arugula are a perfect combination and the procuitto is a must! Yumm....I will make these again and again. I thought I was in Tuscany when eating these! I love Everyday Italian, we just need more recipes! I love the way they film this show! It is so engaging!

User: VANCE PHILIP from Arlington, VA    User Rating:
I'd avoid using the arugula; the bitterness should have offset the sweetness of the dish. Instead, it simply overpowered it. In fact, I'd do it again, but not even serve it atop greens. I'd also be fairly generous with the herbs and the salt.

Had some friends over for dinner and quickly threw this tasty appetizer together as they were getting settled. What a crowd pleaser! Perhaps next time, I'll mix some other leafy green (spinach?) in with the arugula, as my tastebuds were sometimes overpowered by the arugula's bitterness. Highly recommended recipe.

Even my 12-year-old son who is "particular" about veggies and beans said he LOVED it. It was easy, went together in mere minutes. And all the guests asked where I got the recipe. I said "Food Network" of course ... I think Food Network has some new subscribers.

You can really do ANYTHING with this recipe. It is great the way it is, but I also like to change it up a little. You can use any fresh herbs you have in the house (rosemary, marjoram, thyme, sage). I have also started sauteing a sliced onion until it is soft before adding garlic and herbs. I only use 1 can of cannellini beans, as my family likes a little more sauce. I am not a big proscuitto fan, but it is still awesome without. Next time I'm going to try adding sauteed pancetta. A little grated parmesan cheese on top is Terrific!

User: Kelly from Fort Lauderdale, FL    User Rating:
If you like cannelini beans, you'll love this recipe. Its flavorful and tastes wonderful over the peppery arugula. My only advice, taste the prociutto prior to making this dish. The prociutto I purchased was very salty, and I forgot to take that into account when I was adding my salt and black pepper to the recipe at the end. The saltyness of the prociutto was enough, so unfortunately, after I added even more salt, my dish was a little heavy on the salt. Despite that, the flavors were all there and I can tell that it will be even better next time when I won't over salt it!! :)

OK-more sauce

Seriously.....a 10 minute dish. I as others mentioned would prefer it over baby spinach (personal preference). Also I may not add the prosciuto next time (again personal prefernce), it's great with it but just to cut some fat and calories. I tasted it before I added it and it was still very good. Nice way to get beans into your diet. Fiber is your friend!

I'm on a diet and this was a fantastic addition to our meal. Very flavorful! Words like robust, tangy, mouth watering, come to mind when thinking about it. Instead of using Arugala I used baby spinach b/c I know I like it. This can be made in advance (to cut the stress of having everything ready at the same time). Just wait until you're about to sit down to add the mix to the greens. It's also good room temperature. Just wonderful!

A nice change of pace from the typical salads, this one can double as a luncheon course because of the beans and prosciutto. A keeper recipe. Be generous with the herbs (fresh only) and prosciutto which adds some saltiness. This all marries well with the arugula. Enjoy!

I got this out of Giada's Family Dinners book. I didn't have prosciutto, so I sauted a little diced bacon, and I used one can cannellini and one of light red kidneys (my 4 year old will eat read beans, but not white). I also did not serve it with the greens. My kids (4 and 1 yrs) both liked and ate it. The leftovers were good, I added a little chicken stock and warmed it up as a meal.

My husband and I attend a potluck once a month and sometimes it's difficult to come up with a simple, healthy dish that will feed 40 or so people. I took this dish last month, making a triple batch, and it was gobbled up. I served it on a nice platter atop mixed baby greens. Next time I will omit the arugula/greens as I don't feel they are necessary to complete the dish or improve the taste. People seemed confused by beans served over salad. This dish has really good flavor for being so simple.

I like anything cooked in tomato sauce and these beans are one of my favorites as they are mild and creamy. Yet this wasn't a 'wow.' I added to it a partial box of cooked multi-grain, high-fiber spaghetti and pasta water to make a 'gravy.' This made it stretch even further as a good side side dish more than the main event. It is a simple, fast, and nutritious recipe. For that it wins points.

I'm not a big fan of beans but even I enjoyed this recipe. I did make a few changes. I used regular northern beans - the cannellini beans just seemed too big, which is a reason I'm not a bean fan in the first place. I also took the advice of other reviewers and just used 1 can of beans to 1 can of tomatoes. This was more than enough for our family of 4. I also doubled the amount of herbs to taste and used bacon instead of proscuitto. Will be making this again!

The prosciutto was a little salty. Maybe the batch that i had. Not usually too salty for me.

This is one of the most delicious, satisfying, EASY meals I've made. I added parmesan on top instead of salt... and only had one pan to wash at the end!

I made these along with the chicken Florentine. WOW!! They were so tasty. I made some pasta for an extra option for my husband and stepson(both very picky with trying anything different). They saw me put it over the mixed greens and said they'd try a little that way. I had to serve that leftover pasta the next day!!

yummy!

Tried this as an alternative to the everyday green salad, and the family loved it. Not all the ingredients were readily available, but easy substitutes worked well.

Easy, but great taste

After seeing these on the show I just knew I had to make them. It took a little longer for me since I use dried beans, but the result was delicious. I did not have arugula so I used baby spinach. It turned out great and there was nothing left.

Sooooooo GOOD!
