Waaaay Better the Next Day!

User: Jim from Rochester, NY    User Rating:
I've read a lot of comments that this salad is bland, and it IS right after you make it. However, if you make it the day before you eat it, it's amazing. Give the delicate flavors of the shrimp, celery, eggs, and seasonings a day to blend together and you'll be glad you did.

A little too much celery
10/31/2006 at 11:56am
User: Joan from Knoxville, TN    User Rating:
I thought that 3 celery ribs and 3 eggs over-powered the flavor of the shrimp. I think the next time I make this, I will reduce the celery to 1 1/2 ribs and just use one boiled egg. I will also use a little more of the salt and onion salt and will add chopped onion.

this is an awsome recipe. best shrimp salad we have ever had. we use 1 egg instead of three as we are not too fond of eggs in salad. the egg does add to the flavor though.

It's something that is okay to eat. It is not anything wonderful. I can take the celery more than anything. Maybe you should use less celery.

Too Good, y'all!

User: Roxane from Rocklin, CA    User Rating:
I needed a better recipe for a salad... so I looked through Paula's recipes, because everything she makes is so good! I had some fresh shrimp and wanted to serve it cool, not hot, on lettuce leaves. So, I chopped my shrimp rather than processing it, and this was absolutely wonderful! It's so great that Paula is not afraid to make/eat rich or tasty, satisfying foods... this is wonderful for salad at dinner or parties. Just scoop it onto lettuce leaves. The egg makes it sooo creamy!

Great light lunch!
07/13/2006 at 12:50pm
User: Jennifer from Shawnee, KS    User Rating:
I used this recipe for a light lunch and it was a hit! I did change it up a bit-added 1/4 c. sour cream, omitted the celery and 2 of the eggs and instead added a cubed avacado. So delicious on a toasted bun with thick, juicy tomato slices!

Easy and Delicious

User: Kathleen from Simi Valley, CA    User Rating:
I loved this recipe! It was so fast and easy and tasted great. I used a little less celery though since I'm not a big celery fan. I also added a little kick with some paprika and seasoning salt. You can also use the recipe to stuff mushrooms, peppers or tomatoes!

Needs a little zip
02/27/2006 at 04:52pm
User: Kristine from South Elgin, IL    User Rating:
This was a hit at my house but needed a litte extra zip. I used a red and black pepper blend (a staple at our house) and a little sour cream with the mayo. Serve it cold! I served it right after I put in the warm boiled egg, too runny. I'll make it again for a summer sandwich.

User: Zaadia from Middle Village, NY    User Rating:
Shrimp salad tastes wonderful! All the ingredients combine well. I chopped fine instead of putting it in the food processor which worked well for me. Celery is somewhat prominent so if you don't like celery cut back on amount. I did and it worked! Thanks!

Very good shrimp salad and so simple to make. Chopped the shrimp for more texture. Used only 1 celery stalk and Janes Crazy Salt for the seasoned salt. Good as a sandwich and especially good stuffed in an avocado.

I love this recipe...made it exactly like Paula except that instead of seasoning salt, I used Old Bay...it was excellent...so fresh tasting and even better with a little finely chopped, fresh parsley. Great served in a tomato or in a bed of lettuce. Also good with crackers or chips. This one is definitely a winner...thanks Paula!

User: DEBBIE from Alpharetta, GA    User Rating:
I have nothing to compare it to since I've never tasted a chopped shrimp salad, but I like that it is prepared totally in the food processor (she did on the show) which makes it more of a spread. It was quick, simple and very tasty! I only added plain salt and onion powder. It would also make a great finger sandwich spread.

Paula's Shrimp Salad
09/26/2004 at 12:20pm
User: SUE from Tucson, AZ    User Rating:
Made Paula's recipe exactly from recipe. It's texture was more of a spread than a salad, so I made it again and chopped the shrimp (rather than use food processor), and found we liked the texture better. Also, I added 1/4 cup of chopped dill pickle, then stuffed the salad into a whole tomato. It was fantastic! Would make a great ladies luncheon dish. Love your recipes Paula.
