Tuna muy expensivo

The key to this dish is thge Yellowfin Tuna usually $18.99 per-lb where I buy fish. Obviously not something most folks can do every night or even a few times a week. So I suggest trying this with salmon, or swordfish - maybe even halibut.Depending on what kind of soy sauce you're using you may wnat to cut back on adding salt until the dish is on the table. My dinner was wonderful but just a bit salty.

Good but a little salty

This is a good recipe and very much what you'd get in a restaurante and very easy to prepare. I personally found it a little salty, due to all the soy sauce, a little more sugar may sweeten it.

I put this together over a bed of romaine lettuce and it was beautiful. If you don't have fresh ginger use ground; it works just as well. It's a great presentation, so feel free to entertain with it!

I made this dish for a large dinner party and it was a hit! I sliced the tuna to make it easier for everyone to eat. And I made the marinade a couple days in advance so all I had to do before the party was grill the tuna. We grilled the tuna on the BBQ and it turned out wonderfully. We'll definitely be making this dish over and over again. Awesome!

If you have all the ingredients, a sous chef to help and plate up dinnner, this makes a great meal. Followed the directions to a T and both my husband and I enjoyed the meal. Next time I would use less soy sauce as we flt it too salty, or an ingredient that cuts it. Avocado did that well. Thanks Tyler!!

I was amazed at how easy this recipe was to put together, and also at how delicious it was! Although it is very simple to make, this tuna is sure to impress. I recommend using sashimi grade tuna since it tastes best when served very rare. I had one guest who did not care for rare tuna, so I made their's well-done and it was still delicious!

Intensely delicious and beautiful to observe!

User: Meredith from Raleigh, NC    User Rating:
I made this dish as a "preview" for a dinner party I am getting ready to host, so scaled (or guessed!) the ingredients for just one person. I cannot adequately express how beautiful it was to look - the green of the avocado; the cherry red of the tuna against a crisp, white backdrop of the plate... Magnificique! A couple of things: Just sliced the avocado and immediately coated with lemon juice to prevent browning, and then sprinkled modestly with salt and pepper. Done. Had marinated the tuna in a soy and vinaigrette marinade during the day, and then liberally coated with black sesame seeds* prior to searing on the grill (approx 2 min's per side; still sushi grade on 90% of the inside). Done. Fixed the cilantro, etc. marinade as close to possible for one person and kept it on the side in a ramekin. It was delicious (left out the salt, per the other reviewers). Just dipped the tuna (and the avocado slices) into the marinade before allowing it to melt in my mouth. An exquisite and strikingly pleasing entree sure to please your guests... or just yourself! *a trip to the Asian grocer is always a delightful adventure? potstickers and edamame for a quick and tasty meal are found in the frozen section, as well as the black sesame seeds? a large back for a mere $1.25!

I love fresh fish but am clueless about how to prepare it. This recipe is so unbelievably simple and delicious I couldn't believe it. I fed this to a friend of mine and he raved so much that he talked me into cooking for a family get-together. I followed a reviewer's advice and paired it with Sara Moulton's coconut rice and it was perfect. Instead of sugar I used honey, and I did it in the blender instead of chopping/grating/mincing separately and it was even easier. Delicious...

I love seared tuna, and this may be the best I've tasted in a restaurant or at home. Incredibly easy; the flavors cannot be beat. I took the advice of another reviewer and eliminated the salt-- wise choice. The soy sauce packs enogh salty punch on it's own. Top 5 of my recipe collection.

This recipe came out so great. The tuna was on sale at the groc store so I bought some and made it for my fiance -- he said it was one of the best things he's ever had. We loved it! I didn't have the avocado on the said -- we just didn't think we needed it. And I might leave out the jalepenos altogether next time as it was a bit spicy and it doesn't even really need that spice; the flavors as they are are so great. Definitely try this -- it's fantastic!

I've been using this recipe for about 3 years now, and it's been a success every single time. I don't like tuna, so I only use it for chicken. It makes a great gravy for mashed potatoes, as well. It's pretty messy the first few times, but after you get the hang of it it's really easy! Enjoy!
