Delicious mussels - perfect for entertaining

I had never made mussels - but saw this on Food Network and decided to give it a try. THE BEST. My husband rated this as a five-star, and any time I tell friends I am making mussels they are sure to come over. It is so easy to prep ahead of time and when ready to serve - 10 minutes and your finished. Oh, don't forget to serve with LOTS of garlic bread for sopping up the juices.

Full of flavor without being too rich

This is a wonderfully full-flavored broth, and the mussels make a very nice light meal. I've made mussels in a white wine sauce involving cream. That sauce had a bit of extra depth, but of course lots more calories as well. I would certainly continue to use this recipe, since it has so much flavor and less fat.

My mouth is watering just thinking about eating this...

We've tried a couple mussel recipes and this is our favorite, by far. I used 1/2 tsp. of dried thyme leaves rather than the fresh, and didn't add any salt at the end (only pepper). Make up a big bowl of these mussels, with a nice loaf of French baguette or some ciabatta bread and you've got a meal in itself. OMG this is great!

Fab Over and Over (with Steemer Clams!)

I have made this dish many times with steemer clams, not mussels. It is great and a big eye popper for company, without much work! A very forgiving dish. Enjoy!

Almost too good to be true

I have made this recipe twice, both times the amounts of ingredients were off, and it was still amazing. I used dried thyme both times as well and it had just the right flavor. This recipe reminds me of the steamed mussels they served at the ultra expensive French place I worked at. The chef there was well-renowned and I can't believe I made something that tasted just like he had prepared it!

A Favorite!

My husband is a big mussels fan and I made this after reading the recipe and it sounded similar to a dish my husband loved on a trip to Savannah. This is a favorite go to recipe. We also enjoy cooking shrimp in the left over broth after the mussels have cooked

Fabulous!

I've been dreaming about the steamed mussels from Carrabas and thought I'd try this. It's my first time in making mussels and this recipe was easy, quick and good. Not quite as good as Carrabas, but a few adjustments in the future should do the trick. It's definitely a keeper. Thanks Tyler

This was truly wonderful - the best part are the wonderful flavours at the bottom of the pan to dip the bread in. Make sure to get very good quality mussels - meaty and fresh, as this is a very light dish...

I haven't made mussels before and I was surprised how easy it was. I made this as an appetizer for a dinner party this weekend and everyone raved about it. I will say that I think the quantity of mussels called for is a little high. I was cooking for eight and since the recipe was supposed to serve four, I doubled it. Cleaning the mussels, I started feeling like I had too much, so I only cleaned 5 lbs instead of 6. Everyone had second and third helpings, and still we probably had a pound or so left over, so the next time I make this, I'll allow for only 1/2 lb per person, rather than 3/4. But seriously, this rocked. The thyme added so much depth in taste and fragrance and I wouldn?t have thought to do that on my own.

Yum!
