Mine didn't turn out as expected. The pineapple mixture didn't stick at all. I think I didn't drain the pineapple well enough. Also - I didn't have real butter so I used margarine and think that may have had something to do with it. BUT - I have faith in Paula and everyone else who gave rave reviews so I'll try it again!

This recipe is amazing! So quick and easy, and just as good the next day when reheated in the microwave for a few seconds, which was really surprising. I am befuddled by some of the reviews on this recipe...several people said they didn't reheat well, but I found the opposite. For those who said it made a mess...did you use CRUSHED pineapple? The first time I made it, I used 1/2 crushed pineapple, and 1/2 pineapple chunks (misread the can). The crushed pineapple stuck, the chunks didn't. So read the can carefully!

This is a very simple recipe and no one has had a bad word for them. I use freezer biscuits and mix my pineapple juice with some of the cherry juice which adds just a little more sweetness, Recommend everyone tries this recipe .

Pineapple Upside Down Biscuits, Yum!!
11/17/2007 at 11:25am
User: Shari from Spring, TX    User Rating:
I made these almost exact with the exception of the extra juice at the end. I drained the pineapple from the can, I didn't try to get out all the juice. There was just enough juice to make the topping and biscuit perfect. They weren't soggy and we heated them up in the microwave for breakfast the next day and we enjoyed them even more the second day!

I made these biscuits along with the Chicken and Rice Casserole from the same episode. I wasn't sure if my boyfriend would like them as he is picky, but he just loved these pineapple biscuits. He sais he could have eaten all ten if he wasn't stuffed from the excellant casserole. He "biscuit-napped" the remaining 9 and took them to his hunting cabin for the weekend to share with his grandkids. These are so easy to make and take hardly anytime. I will make two batches from now on!

I just made these with scrambled eggs and sausage links for breakfast and the taste paired real well with the sausage links. They are very easy to make and make a very pretty presentation! The only thing I noticed missing from the recipe is a temperature setting for the oven, so I went with what was recommended on the can of biscuits. In addition, I used an 8oz can of pineapple, could not find a 10oz can. They were still very good! Thanks Paula!!

What a great dish for a kid to cook! My daughter LOVED the results of these pretty biscuits and she's never even tried a real pineapple upside-down cake so this was such a treat for her. The ONLY suggestion have is that it is a MUST to keep kiddos away from the muffin pan after baking. Hot, melted sugar=VERY SERIOUS burns.

User: Sarah from Frankfort, KY    User Rating:
.....I made mine in mini muffin tins, using 1/4 of a cherry and 1/4 of a biscuit. To get them out whole, I refrigerated them and then did have to pat with a knife since all of the filling didn't come out, but managed to put them back together just fine. I kept in the fridge to serve the next day and served them with mini pecan pies and mini brownies, too cute! I used real butter, and think (ok, I know) that I could have just eatten the filling with a spoon!!!!! Thanks Paula, I love ya!

Terrific. There are only two of us and I had been craving a pineapple upside down cake, but didn't want to make the whole big thing.. So I made this - we both had two and I froze the rest. They froze very well--just a few seconds in the micro and we had a little bit of cake.

I gave this recipe only two stars because the topping at least tasted like Pineapple Upside Down cake. But it is just dreadful on a biscuit! Ick! And like other reviewers, I found that they did not come out of the pan neatly, instead they just fell apart. Sorry Paula, usually your recipes are winners, but this one's headed to the Delete file.

After reading the reviews, I thought this would be a pretty fool-proof recipe. Its not. After 15 minutes of baking, these were no where near being done - only the top half of the biscuit was baked. Of course I didn't find this out until after I had flipped the biscuits out. When we flipped the biscuits out of the tin, pineapple went everywhere except where it was supposed to be. What a messy disappointment!

very quick and easy to make. my entire family loved them (except the cherries). only problem i had was the pineapple topping...whenever i flipped my tray over, the topping wouldn't stick. i think it's because my family wanted to eat them so badly that they wouldn't allow the biscuits to cool in time.

I don't like overly sweet desserts and these were perfect because they weren't that sweet. My kids loved them and my husband even liked them and he's not a biscuit person. What a wonderful recipe.....will be added to my favorites.

I tried this recipe yesterday and it was great! Easy to make, easy clean up and quick! After reading an earlier review I chose not to use the buttermilk biscuits and used the plain instead. A co-worker made them on Saturday and since she isn't a fan of cherries she didn't use them and hers came out wonderful!

My 12 year old daughter watched Paula make these & wanted to make them herself. I was skeptical ... but, when she made them, they were delicious! The pineapple mixture makes a rich, syrupy sauce on top of the biscuit that is wonderful. I plan to try this recipe using my homemade biscuit dough instead of prepared bisuits. Or maybe I will try her Sour Cream Muffin/Biscuit recipe that she just aired today ... can you imagine Pineapple Upside-Down Sour Cream Muffins/Biscuits? Now THAT'S a good thought! LOL!

Its a nice idea but the buttermilk biscuits made it too salty. Somethings to remember is make sure all juice is out & don't get the extra large biscuits as that doesn't work well.

Way to easy and good

These biscuits were so appealing to the eyes, it looks like I slaved in the kitchen for hours. My co-workers loved them.

We do not have any children here, but, the adults really loved it and I printed out the recipe for everyone to enjoy at their homes. If there were more than 5 stars, this recipe would get them.

This is the best dessert ever !!! It tasted just like a pineapple upside down cake 2 thumbs up Paula ! I drained the pineapples and added the butter and the brown sugar together then done as the directions stated. And went by the baking on the side of the biscuits = 400 degrees for 12-15 min. and I just put mine in there for 12 min and they turned out wonderful. This recipe was not messy and it was a quick and easy ,satisfying dessert! I will be making these for Christmas and many years to come it's deffinately a new family recipe for many generations ! Thanks agian Paula !!!!

The idea sounded good but the biscuit didn't really go with the pineapple upside down topping. It wasn't quite a dessert and it wasn't quite a dinner roll. My guests didn't like them at all. I would not make this recipe again.

User: SANDRA from Louisburg, NC    User Rating:
This is an excellent dessert at dinner or side at breakfast. It is easy, fast, and so beautiful on the plate I was just proud. I varied the recipe because there are only 2 of us and I would feel a personal obligation to eat all of the left overs if I used a can of 10 biscuits. This is how I varied the recipe: I used 4 frozen biscuits, 4 tblsp pineapple, 2 tblsp butter, and 3 tblsp brown sugar. I used the Texas size muffin pan with 6 cups. I poured hot water into the 2 unused cups. I followed Paula's directions for mixing the "pineapple upside down" sauce. I put 2 teaspoons of pineapple juice on top of each biscuit. Then followed the frozen biscuit package for cooking time and temperature. Oh Yum, Yum, what a delight! Paula, sincere thanks for another great dessert! - - By the way next time I'm going to try a ramekin, and make one biscuit for each person. They are very satisfying!!
