the kids liked helping to make them, and they also tasted pretty good, but they did burn a little

Very bland

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
These are really bland and the cheese burns extremely easily. Also, they have absolutely no nutritional value.

These tasted good but were a pain to make. I had to turn them because they were burning on the bottom.

Great for Kids to try

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
These are really fun for kids to make with you. Although, I think the dough should be cut into 3rds or halves instead of sixths. Also, they are very quick and easy.

Needed a little change

User: Sarah from Hackettstown, NJ    User Rating:
I found that my hot dogs rolled off the biscuit when they cooked. Pulling the dough a bit more and completly wrapping it around seemed to fix it. Very tasty

Burnt a bit
10/29/2006 at 09:27pm
User: Indie from Liilesford, TN    User Rating:
The cheese burnt a bit but that part was easy to peel off. Even so these weren't anything special. My kids said not to bother making them again.

Excellent

User: Teri from Raleigh, NC    User Rating:
I made these and the kids told me to save this one and make them again - they were that good. The cheese doesn't burn if you put in on the inside. This is easy and a keeper.

Yum Yum

I might make these again but with the cheese on the inside because it all burned. But I probably won't make them again.

A Salvaged Disaster

User: Linda from San Jose, CA    User Rating:
I'm giving it two stars because they tasted good - just like pigs-in-a-blanket, which we like. However, this recipe did not go together according to the show or the recipe. The biscuits opened up and flattened out, the cheese ran and the dogs slid. After the first batch, I inverted the "pillow dogs" so that the biscuit couldn't open and flatten out. We ended up with "Turtle Dogs". Nope - this recipe was not a winner for the time involved.

Changed it up a bit
08/06/2006 at 10:54am
User: Patty from Phila, PA    User Rating:
I made these into a breakfast snack/sandwich. I heated up some precooked sausage links and put them in place of the hotdogs. Since I had some biscuits left over I did the same thing as with the base of this snack but put in on top..sealed the sides. Made a little sandwich.

Lovely to look at but far too fancy
08/05/2006 at 05:19pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I thought these were delightful and although everyone oooh-d and aaah-d when I set them out, not one person at my lavish pig roast party ate one. They were far too fancy to consider eating. Everyone thought they were part of the tablescape. So 10 stars for appearance but -10 for being a waste of food stamps.

Pigs on the Pillow~ YES

We were really rushed for a quick appetizer & I had the ingredients for these on hand. I know Sandra came up w/ these for kids but the adults @ the party loved them. I should have doubled the recipe. Cannot get any easier to prepare & a Brit friend even remarked that he finds very few savory dishes here in the "colonies!" & gobbled several up. Will be making more this weekend for the teenage boys staying over. It will hold them awhile & not cost us a fortune. Enjoy!

These are so imaginative and cute and most of all:

delish! I used to wrap little dogs in crescent dough only, but now I'll never do it that way again. The bisquit cheese mixture makes these extra special.

NEVER ENOUGH :-)

I love Sandra and all her recipes and her tablescrapes and her family and most of all "COKTAIL TIME!" I dearly love these pillow dogs and eat them most every day and like those kids, I secretly like the burned chesse the best. Less is not more, more is more, and more is FABULOUS! Nuff Said.

Okay but boring

Pigs in a blanket with cheese on the outside
04/28/2006 at 11:25am
User: Cimone from Houston, TX    User Rating:
Personally, I think regular pigs in a blanket work better because that way the cheese doesn't burn.

My girls wouldn't eat these without smothering them in ketchup, which makes this recipe a loser in my book.

My teenagers thought these were silly

Once I'd plated them up and had a good look, I had to agree. Small children may enjoy these but I can't imagine why.

Messy
03/31/2006 at 09:26pm

My dough pieces slid right off the wieners when I served these. I thought they would be good 'handles' for the wieners but what a mess it turned out to be.

These weren't the worst

But we really prefer Pigs in Blankets. They are much tastier and don't burn as easily.

My cheese burned

I made these for my kids last night
03/25/2006 at 12:50pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
and they just loved them. It's true that the cheese does not burn. Were you putting it on the outside of the dough? It's supposed to get mixed with the batter, so it comes out like a cheesy biscuit coating the hot dog. Try again that way and you'll love them!

this isn't a coating
03/25/2006 at 12:09am
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
it's more of a covering. It wouldn't matter if they were wet. Did you people even try this recipe? They were delish! And also, the cheese doesn't burn!!!

I used 'LIL Smokies

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
they came out great. It's true you need to not try to batter your dogs if they are wet? though. Thanks for the tip.

Ours didn't turn out that well
03/24/2006 at 09:14pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
If you use the canned weiners be sure to dry them off first. I couldn't get the dough to stick. We won't try these again.

These are so fun to eat and make. The cheese makes the biscuit dough very moist. We added some garlic to our dough and they tasted like Red Lobster's biscuits surrounding a hot dog! YUMMO

Great finger food!

This is the first time I have reviewed a recipe. I felt compelled to comment on the nasty remark from anonomous. If she had nothing better to say than this it would serve her well to keep her thoughts to herself. This defeats an accurate rating of a recipe.
