This recipe was quick and easy. The hardest part was going to the grocery store. I doubled the recipe, they are better re-heated. I also added a little cayanne pepper for some heat. Delicious!

I had these for dinner this evening and they were just terrific. The only changes I made were: left out the red pepper, added a little chopped broccoli and added some brown rice to the wrap to make a compete meal. Very good. Easy. This will be a great meal to use up the fresh summer basil from the garden.

I saw the recipe on TV and it seemed really easy and great! I tried it that same night. I liked it okay but it was not as fantastic tasting as it looked on TV. I was the only one in the family who liked it though. Also, I don't know if it is the sweentened chili sauce I got that had lots of MSG in it or not, because I felt very thirsty after that. It was probably not the other ingredients because I have used the fish sauce and other stuff before in other dishes.

This is okay, but I won't make it again...

I followed this recipe exactly. I usually love lettuce wraps, but this was very mediocre. I thought the fish sauce gave it a weird taste. It was very runny and the sauce dripped everywhere. None of my family liked it. I won't be making this again.

I made this and served it over Thai white rice. My husband loved it. I found this extremely flavorful yet not overpowering. The plum sauce was the perfect addition to the dish. The second time I made this, I used jumbo shrimp and Japanese scallops instead of the chicken and served it with lettuce. This was equally as good as the using the chicken. I will definitely make this again.

This is a fast, easy starter either on a weeknight or for a small dinner party. Though calling them Thai is a bit of a stretch, these are still very tasty. I skipped the fish sauce. Next time I may add a hit of chili garlic sauce for a little kick.

This was my first attempt at Thai cooking, and it was absolutely delicious! The only problem was that the iceburg lettuce fell apart a little bit. I considered boston lettuce, but I was looking for the contrast between the soft veggies and the crisp lettuce, but you just need to find the best pieces of lettuce to use. THANK YOU RACHAEL!!!

This took me less than 30 minutes. If I'd used the food processor for the garlic, ginger and veggies, it probably would have been even faster. I didn't have any plum sauce so I used a combination of peach preserves and tamari (dark soy) sauce, which seemed to work well. If you like a lot of veggies, you should double the red pepper and cabbage quantity. As it is, the chicken dominated the dish. I'd make this again, and even try it with beef or shrimp instead of chicken.

My kids LOVED this dish!

It was quick and easy. Made it just as the recipe said -- even got to use some home grown basil from the garden and my fussy fussy husband loved it. Make sure you use high quality chicken breasts - those frozen or thawed frozen mushy things don't do it justice and you'll end up with too much "juice" from all the liquid fillers they put in them. Mine tasted fine with fish sauce, thought it made it taste more Thai, but I like fish sauce.

Forget rating...raving!

Yummy recipe! I substituted cilantro for the basil and definitely added the fish sauce. The iceberg lettuce as a wrap is a cost effective substitute for the usual Boston lettuce.

Very good light weeknight suppoer
09/07/2005 at 11:14pm
User: Caroline from Lynchburg, VA    User Rating:
These wraps were very good. I made them for a light weeknight dinner. I left the fish sauce out because I thought there were already a lot of flavors going on. I had the windows in the apartment open while I was cooking and my husband said he could smell dinner coming down the walkway. He liked the wraps very much also. The one thing I will say is I think this takes more than 10 minutes of prep. If you can chop as fast as Rachael Ray, maybe 10 minutes, but it took me a lot longer to chop everything.

Easy and good!

Loved the recipe. My husband was GOO GOO over it. I have never made lettuce wraps at home, but love them out. This was as good as take-out. True to the episode title. I thought the ginger flavour was a little strong and next time I will ease up on the ginger a bit as it tends to get too earty and dirty tasting for my tastes, but othe than that, AWESOME. So quick and simple, too.

Over all it was yummy. I was a little scared to try the plum and fish sauce so I only put a little in, which left it a little bland. I added cliantro (made it SO good), lime juice, jalape?o, more garlic, red chile flakes, and a pinch of salt. Delicious!

This looked great on the show, but was not nearly as good as I expected. Maybe the brand of plum sauce I bought wasn't very good? It would have been better served over rice than in the lettuce. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't make it again.

I hate to say it, but it was pretty bad. I ended up adding Peanut Satay Sauce, Cilantro, Jalopeno, extra Fish Sauce and warm roasted Peanuts. Prior to the additional ingredients it was incredibly bland and runny. I served the chicken on Butter Lettuce and it was quite delicious...given that I made some changes to the recipe.

I absolutely love this recipe. Like it's a hot summer day where I live, it was really a cool and refreshing meal. My husband and I both liked it. It's a keeper. Like many others have suggested, if you'd like a kick to the chicken, add some chili garlic sauce or any other kind of hot sauce. I also used the spicy Montreal seasoning, which added great flavor. The crispiness of the lettuce and coolness of the cucumber was great! Great job, RR! :)

Season and marinade the chicken strips
06/20/2006 at 08:48pm
User: SANDY from Astoria, NY    User Rating:
I don't know what the limit is to marinade chicken but...I sliced the chicken, seasoned it with salt and Emeril's Creole seasoning and placed it in a bowl. I then chopped up two cloves of garlic, poured a tablespoon of olive oil into the bowl and turned it all over to coat. I placed it in the refrigerator in the morning. When I got home from work, I followed the recipe to the letter. Tasted great. I think it was because of the marinade however. This makes it more than a 30-minute meal. Try it anyway.

Tasty! Try ground chicken, too
06/17/2006 at 08:04pm
User: Todd from San Francisco, CA    User Rating:
This was pretty tasty -- although I think the quality of this dish boils down to the quality of the plum sauce you use. (Sorry -- I don't remember the brand I used) I also recommend trying this with ground chicken from your butcher department. Not only is the texture better, but you don't have to spend any time cutting up the chicken.

Added some extra minced up fresh garlic and used the whole bag of shredded carrot mix instead of the recommened recipe instructions. Also used romaine lettuce instead of regular salad leaves. My husband loved it, never pictured him a lettuce wrap eater, so i made some lo mein noodles for him to put the chicken mix on, and he wanted the lettuce instead. he enjoyed the meal.

YUM!!! This recipe rocks - I almost ate the whole skillet full myself. The only change I would make is to throw in the cabbage mix at the very end of cooking, so that it's wilted but still a tad crunchy. Also, if the lettuce wrap thing isn't working out for you (I had a little trouble), just put a handful of raw cabbage mix in the bottom of a bowl and pile the cooked chicken mixture on top - EXCELLENT!

I made mine like Rachael demonstrated on T.V. by adding crushed red pepper to the oil before the chicken. I also only used the plum sauce and omitted the fish sauce. Everyone raved at the recipe. Thank you Rachael!!!

Made this tonight for dinner and the whole family liked it. The only things I did differently were I didn't use the fish sauce, and I served it over brown rice. This dinner disappeared in no time flat. Next time I make this, I will double it or just add more chicken. Was enough sauce leftover to do just that. Enjoy!

My fiance and I just can't stop eating it although I did not follow the recipe exactly. I didn't add fish sauce to it, as it will make us thirsty but I add chilli and make it spicier. It defintely got a kick to it although I didn't add a lot of stuff, like basil and the veggies. The lettuce is so crunchy that we just had so much fun munching it. Great taste and look attractive too!

This is a good basic recipe to follow and/or modify. I didn't make the plum sauce and used a store bought sesame garlic sauce. Also, I added water chestnuts for more crunch. Good staple recipe to have and be creative with in the future.

Fabulous - Rachael did it again! Prep takes longer than the cooking, but definitely a 30 minute meal. Flavor combinations were great if you like Thai food. A bit messy to eat wrapped in lettuce, but the flavor is worth it. Could serve with Chinese pancakes or just over rice. Wonderful, healthy meal.

I really love lettuce wraps, in fact, I went on a search to find the most perfect recipe. I found a copy cat to PF Changs, which was my favorite. Then I saw this one, so I tried it, with really disappointing results. I am not really a big fan of fish sauce, but since the first time I make any recipe, I like to do it to the letter, and then adjust the second/third, etc. time I make it, unlike a lot of the reviewers here who seem to substitute everything. Maybe that explains why they can give 5 stars, since they don't follow it like it is written. Anyway, I tried it with the fish sauce, and it was awful. Too fishy tasting and it didn't complement the other flavors. I guess I have to change my approach to cooking now and substitute half the ingredients to make something that is palatable. I think I will stick with PF Chang recipe, much much better.

I couldn't find my usual recipe for chicken lettuce wraps, and I liked the balance of flavor and spiciness, so I didn't want to wing it, so I tried Rachael's version. It is definitely missing a couple of things - sauce tasted like an asian version of american barbecue - maybe it was the grill seasoning.
