Bittersweet and cold

While preparing the Lemon Ice, my blender had a hard time crushing the ice... perhaps crushed ice would work better. It also kept freezing perhaps because of the gelatin. As for flavor, it was really sour... I went ahead and added extra sugar.... made it better. I was thinking of trying limeade and lime gelatin, but now I think it might be way too sour.

Your gelatin might have been gritty because you didn't dissolve it long enough. That happened to a jello salad my daughter made once. Now she knows to stir it longer.

I didn't have lemon Jell-o mix so I used cherry and it was de-lish! I also added a little water to cut the tartness a bit. My 5-year-old loved it!

I added extra sugar because looking at the other ingredients and ratios, I knew it would be super tart. Kids and adults loved it alike. We froze it and served it Taylor Street style. I recommend this for your next bbq and do double the recipe!!!

Ok, the recipe says 1 (1.5-ounce) can frozen lemonade mix concentrate, but my can was 12 ounces, in fact I've never seen a 1.5 ounce can (that would be tiny!) so I don't know if the recipe was wrong or if I was only supposed to use 1.5 ounces of the concentrate from my can? Either way this would have been wonderful if I used less concentrate, but the recipe should have been more specific. I was disappointed.

This recipe is awesome. I do think that using a premium concentrate is the key. I couldn't find regular lemon gelatin, so I used sugar free, and it was still great! I would advise disolving gelatin in a little hot water before adding, or you do risk some grit.

The worst lemon ice I've ever sampled. We can get lemon ice at any diner here in northern Arkansas so I've had plenty to compare this with.
