Unlike another viewers opinion, I make these cookies ahead of time and either put them in a tupperware type container or freeze them and they work perfectly either way for a make ahead dessert. They are a favorite for all occasions! joan Sporn Linville, NC

They taste wonderful, but mine ran all over the baking sheet. I think it might be because I used 3 large egg whites instead of 2 Extra large, anyone agree? The egg whites where a little watery when I added them, so the batter was runny. Other than the mess that I caused myself, they were great! Definitely will make again!

This is by far the best macaroon recipe I've ever used. They are so so simple to make and a huge hit with my friends, family and co-workers. They are fantastic plain and also good partially dipped in dark chocolate and rolled in almonds. I've made them again and again and never tire of them>

I read the reviews before I made these for Easter. Since several said the batter was runny, I tried an experiment. First, I lightly toasted the coconut prior to mixing with the condensed milk. Then I whipped the egg white to stiff peaks. The batter was fine, you just have to work quickly before the egg whites deflate. I also used almond extract. They were delicious and a huge hit!!!

I tried making this recipe after seeing it on TV and especially after reading the great reviews. I don't know what I did wrong but they did NOT turn out nearly the same as Ina's. After folding in the egg whites, the batter was extremely runny and the minute I put them on the sheet pan, they spread out because they were so liquidy. I added tons of coconut to make the batter stiffer (knowing that they would not come out good but I did not want to waste the batter so I took a chance). The end result - I had to throw them out. I love Ina and I have tried a lot of recipes and I am surprised that this one failed. Any one knows why the batter was so runny??

This is by far my favorite macaroon recipe. I like to dip the bottoms of mine in dark chocolate. A suggestion for those who have runny cookies: Use a silpat baking sheet, and bake the cookies on the second or third highest rack in the oven. I usually lessen the cooking time accordingly. Also, if you don't have extra large eggs, I don't find a difference using 2 large eggs instead.

I gave this two stars only because of the flavor - - they tasted great. But their appearance is poor. They are misshapen blobs, and I wouldn't be able to serve these to visitors. I wouldn't bother to make them again. Sorry, Ina.

This is a perfect macaroon, and I have given it many times, in beautiful tins and jars, as gifts. I've even had a jar returned with a request for it to be filled again with more of these delicious little cookies! This recipe is simple, and the cookies are simply wonderful. I followed this recipe exactly and the macaroons are rubbery and the condensed milk creates an odd flavor. For the effort required, these cookies are not very good. I would use another recipe.

OK, I'm not a macaroon fan. I don't remember my mom ever making them, so the only ones I've ever tried were store bought. And I never liked them. When I saw Ina make these on her show, I thought they looked good and might be worth a try. Besides, they looked very easy to make (so my daughter could help me), and I had all the ingredients on hand. They were incredibly simple to mix up and toss in the oven. The baking time was right on, and they lifted off the parchment paper with no problem. I let them cool for about 20 minutes, and then tried one. And another one. And another one. In the end, I proved to have less will-power than the reviewer who said she stopped herself from eating a dozen of them. OK, I'm a macaroon fan.

If I so chose I could definitely devour a dozen of these delicious little fellas, unfortunately, I want to be able to fit into my pants! Instead, I eat only a half dozen and have stacked the rest in little boxes dressed with pretty little bows and given them away. A thoughtful gift for the teacher, a birthday treat for someone special...they are always recieved with great appreciation. These are the perfect dessert...for family, friend or for the most special occassion..no fail. Gotta love ya for this one Ina!

I have watched Ina and made lots of her recipes but this one is a disappointment. The cookies were runny, flat and looked nothing like the photo. I added more coconut but not much difference. I followed the recipe exactly. They tasted good but were like coconut pancakes. I will look for another recipe for macaroons.

These cookies are just wonderful! The recipe is super easy and in just a few basic steps you are on your way to a tasty treat! Even though half of the cookies were gone soon after I took them out of the oven, I think they tasted even better the next day right out of the refrigerator. I must have made my cookies large because I only got 11 out of the batch, but no one complained and they still baked up nice in 30 minutes!

I just pulled these out of the oven and am pretty disappointed. I cooked mine on silpat liners and the bottoms of each macaroon burned, even though I reduced the cooking time by about 5 minutes and used an internal oven thermometer to make sure the temperature was correct. The egg whites ran out of the cookies while they baked and turned black. Also, the cookies came out quite chewy, not light and fluffy as most bakery purchased macaroons tend to be. Good luck to all who try this recipe for the first time!

I made macaroons for the first time. They tasted really great but they burn really quickly in oven. I made one batch on normal parchment paper and the other batch on a silpat. The ones on the paper stuck on it. In Germany we only eat them at x-mas time.So, I looked up a old german x-mas cookie book, that my mom gave me. In the book it said to put a cold wet towel underneath the parchment paper for a couple of minutes and then the macaroons would come right off. I will try that next time.

These macaroons were so easy to make and so delicious! The only problem I had was as the cookies baked, the coconut stayed puffed in the center and some liquid pooled around it and cooked. They kind of looked like melting ice cream balls. They still tasted great, though. The next batch, I flattened before baking and that fixed the problem. I tried melting chocolate chips and coating one side of the cookies--delicious! They were a big hit with my kids and our dinner guests.

I have been making these for a few years with chocolate chips and they are a huge hit with the family and friends. But just finished a batch that was refreshing and super tasty. I added 1 Tbsp. lemon zest instead of chocolate chips for a totally different flavor. These are sure to wow my guests.

These macaroons are easy to make. Make sure to combine the egg whites with the coconut mix well. You need to fold in the egg whites. The recipe asks that you gently fold in the whites. Make certain to fully incorporate the whites or they will run during baking.

Seriously, these are the best ever macaroons and they aren't hard to make. My family loves them (even the ones that thought they weren't crazy about coconut). Hint: If you make the cookie on the larger size, it will be 'chewier' in the middle.

My Jewish friend said they were the best macaroons he's ever had (which is saying something because he's eaten a lot of them). I melted chocolate in a double boiler and poured them over the top which I felt made them much better. You can also add food coloring to the egg whites mixture around holidays to make them more festive.

This recipe is SUPER easy - should eat same day b'cuz' they begin to break down on the 2nd day. Also, while cooling, I dusted bottoms with powdered sugar to avoid sticking to eachother and plate.

I've made this several times, and this is a simple recipe -- if you follow the directions exactly (beat the egg white correctly and fold them in gently). I live in the southeast and have learned not to make this recipe on a humid or rainy day. It's easy to overbake. I make small cookies, and they cook at least 5 minutes faster than the required recipe time. And be gentle in removing them from the parchment. They have a tendency to stick. I've found these to be best eaten on the day baked.

I made these for a ladies fellowship and my husband looked over at me so proud when the minister had heard the men were sneaking in to sample one and mentioned it during announcements at church! I was pleasantly embarressed, they didn't know who made them! I added some orange zest. Now for Thanksgiving, I have to try to add somethng else....I am addig the orange zest and then drizzling melted milk chocolate over the top. BTW....the regular ones are awesome but it is fun having different kinds out for people to sample. This is a GREAT dessert especially if you are in a hurry! Thanks!

These were very easy to make and had a wonderful taste and texture. I took them to a luncheon and everyone loved them. This is one of my standby recipes now. (Definitely use the parchment paper though,they will stick...and don't overbeat the egg whites or they will "seep" during baking.)

Easy and delicious. These cookies are crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. They were incredible the day I made them, but for some reason were horrible after storing them in an airtight container. The crunch was gone and the cookies became a bit rubbery. I'm not sure what I did, but I will definitely make them again.

Made these cookies and was totally disappointed. They ran all over the place after placing them in the oven. The only thing I can think of is that I used Safeway brand condensed milk rather than Eagle Brand. They were tasty enough but what a mess, ugly. I will try them again with the Eagle Brand. I used a silpat mat but even that didn't help the stickyness.

This recipe is great- easy and quick to make. The coconut is crunchy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. What a great combination! I could almost hear Ina asking "who wouldn't like these" every time I read this recipe. And so, I tried them, and then decided to bring them to work. One colleague told me that she wished her dad was alive to taste them. They were, she said, the best macaroons she had ever eaten. Another colleague compared them to an orgasm! Who would have thought? I could have never imagined that a simple cookie could have evoked such sentiments. To boot, it has become my favorite food gift: quick, simple, inexpensive, and always well received. Thank you, Ina, for such a keeper!

The second batch of these macaroons came out really good because I cooked them for 18 minutes because when I cooked them for 25 minutes the bottoms were burt. I dipped the bottoms in chocolate and they were very good!

Easiest recipe ever. Great chewey texture and flavor even it you don't like coconut. I don't usually like coconut, but these are an irresistable classic. First batch was done sooner than recipe states, cut 5 minutes off the time.

I made these for a dinner party and everyone loved them! One commented that it reminded him of a perfect little package that has all of the good parts of a coconut pie.
