Alton does it better

The recipe was wonderful and very simple to follow. However, I did not have Alton's art of preparing as I ended up with a club hand and a club fork. Tried every which a way and still had a mess. LOL. However, the recipe was very good. Maybe I just need more practice.

Wonderful Crunch!

I used these to top the leek soup featured in this episode. Yes they are time consuming, but they retained their crunch for quite a while. I did add some of the spices Rachel Ray used in her "Spicy O'nuts", but really all they need is a bit more salt. Not an everday meal, but can definitely be used to impress your dinner guests :)

What to do with the leafy part?

It does taste better in texture over onion rings, but I find myself not sure what to do with the leftover leafy parts after making the rings.

unique treat

I wish I could figure out what the batter is missing but even still it is a nice little treat (batter is a wee bit bland). Prep is time consuming but worth it. Not slimy like onion rings.

ok, they are a chore to prep, but, 3 of us, one of whom is allergic to onions but not leeks, vote that these beat ANY onion rings we ever had. We also fried up some really good jack cheese, pickles, and pork fingers w/lime peppar,, so good you can't stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Alton

Simple and oh so tasty

We really enjoyed making and eating these, although the kids were afraid we had made them calamari when they saw the heaping plate of fried squiggly thing.

Good, but prefer onion

I have never tried Leeks before, so I was excited about trying this. I LOVE onions rings. I gave it a twist by using Panko breadcrumbs in the last breading station instead of flour. They added an incredible CRUNCH and I really liked them, but they just didn't quite measure up to onion rings to me.

Superior to onion rings...

The taste ans texture of these rings is far above what I expected, and much better than your traditional onion ring. Yes, it took a while, but the end result was very much worth the wait!

This is the first time I have ever eaten leeks, and I trusted Alton to guide me through it. Very tasty - they are indeed better than onion rings!!

Oh baby!

The sweetness of the leeks, the saltiness of the batter, and the crunch all adds up to a sublime accompaniment to some potato leek soup (not Alton's recipe). However, these were pretty labor intensive.

Great Recipe

The Recipe was pretty great! I added bread crumbs to the dry mixture and it was a great addition.
